Na, no treeing yet. They are only three months old. They will get their chance soon enough though. Have had them messing with a hide though. He is a good looking little dude, the female is two weeks younger but she is bigger. I didn't get her to stand quit as good as the male. They are off coondog mothers so they should turn out.

pup

That male is nice . I like he blanket ,Do you think he will have that bigole head ??

If the female didn't have that little white mark on her they would be twins. She actually has a bigger head and is thicker than the male right now and she is two weeks younger than the male. They are a nice pair of pups and I'm proud to have them. I like getting pups out of females that I like and know are coondogs and these both qualify. Lots of old blood up close on the female side of both those two.

I used my numbers from april 23, 07 which were 720 pups 1Gn and 10Nt, and the other numbers from the start of this post which were early June 08 1320 pups and 14Gn and 48Nt.

11/720 X 100= 1.52%

62/720 X 100=8.6%

On the second figure I again used 720 as number of pups to eliminate the number of pups that would be younger than april 07. Now this would no doubt be more accurate with current numbers but it is close.

Will he ever get as high as Rat, Sackett, Nite Heat or Clover.
After all the ads and hype are gone the numbers will tell the tale.

Posted by John M. Horner on 12-26-2008 02:29 AM:

Nelson Jr I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and hope you realize the amount of pups that are very young, the amount under two years old.And I do hope you realize the # you left out 70 some performance points.Whats the next closest because I don't pay alot of attention to them but I think its 18.But to answer your original question yes I think his #'s will keep climbing to where I'm not sure but time will tell!!!!Cornell was like out of his fourth litter so when he was born he probably had maybe 40 pups.Cornell just turned three this month!!!!!

Posted by chris baker on 12-26-2008 02:39 AM:

He may not reproduce anything. Who knows? All I know is John Horner has put the name Trackman on the map in PKC pretty much and ask him how he likes the dogs he has out of him. I liked the one I had, sure he had his faults but he was also still only two when he was killed. My buddy and his dad had a couple and they were nice hounds as well. You might also want to figure that most of his pups are hunted in PKC mostly and not UKC. You are correct, only time will tell and he is being compared to the biggest names in stud dog history. There will never be another Sackett Jr, or Rat Attack ever. No dog will ever fill those shoes or Nailor or Lipper. They each made their own mark on the dogs of today and you can never truly replace what is gone. How would he fare if those dogs were still here or if he was around when they were hot? I guess that is a dumb ? cause he has most all the great studs in his pedigree.

i just dont think many trackman dogs have the drive it would take to make it at my house again i have hunted with several and am making my opinion on personal knowledge no bashing here but in thin coons the ones i have seen go just run and tree never have coons allison chains is by far the nicest 1 i have ever seen go but that was only up north you just never hear of many good ones coming from down in my area i think his name should have been treeman my self

Jason I know your not bashing and understand your opinion but I have owned ten TRACKMAN dogs.Have taken two of them to Gold ch and three to Grand Nite, two to nite ch.And I'm not sure how many to PKC CH.Cornell won casts in thick coon and he won casts in thin coon.I have had TRACKMAN dogs that I didn't like as well as other one's but they all treed coons. And one thing they all had in common they did it in style nice locate, tree dogs.To me that matters its the same as watching a good bird dog its like a form of art!!And I will not haul or hunt a slick treeing idiot!!!!!!!!!

Posted by chris baker on 12-26-2008 11:01 PM:

I think some of them do have to be kept hunted up or down how ever you want to put it. They are bred to tree and if they are not hunted enough they will mess up. Mine had plenty of hunt in him. He didn't blow through the country but he would go hunting and get struck and treed. Yes he was better on hot coon but I didn't get him untill he was over a year old and he was killed before he was three. In that time I didn't have a lot of time to hunt due to work but he could look good. He could run old bad tracks and tree the coon but on a hot track he would burn your ass in a heart beat. Huge screaming mouth and an awsome locate and nice tree dog. He had his faults but when he did it it was in style. He took no back seat right or wrong.

Posted by nelson jr on 12-27-2008 12:48 PM:

Nocturnal styles percentage in april 07 was 8.6% probably higher now maybe 12% or so.

More than a couple guys in this business could take any decent coon dog and turn him into the best stud dog going. Money and ads and hype and top notch handlers that could make lassie a tree dog. Are some dogs much better reproducers than others, sure they are but alot of them are about even and just appear better due to circumstances. Just as sure as I am sittin here if some of the top stud dogs in the country got run over today their owners would have even better dogs next week to promote.

"Winner's train,Loser's complain" read it on a kid's T-shirt!!!LOL

Nelson Jr. find a strain of dogs you like, tree style, trail style and go out there and show some people why you picked them.If they send you back to the club house as the first loser.Re-examine your program and figure out why your losing is it my handling skills or my dogpower.Fix the problem be succesful simple formula no secrets!!!!

Posted by chris baker on 12-28-2008 03:59 PM:

You are very correct. Not every dog that is a nice or even excellent coon dog is a stud dog. Some are definitly better than others in the stud pen also. Take for example two brothers, one is a whale of a hound and one can't run a track out of the house. Have pups out of both and the ones out of the coon dog are dumb as mud and the ones out of the pot licker are treeing at five months old. Given todays hunters, which ones will sell as pups first? The ones out of the well known coon dog or the full brother that is known for keeping the porch warm? Not everyone will like the same style of hound. If they don't have a good personality for example, I can't stand them. You give me one that has the desire to please and tries to get better and I will give him a chance. One that just wants to go along with the crowd and only do what he has to, he will be looking for a new address. I am not the greatest handler or trainer but I do know what I want in a hound and what it takes to win. There are good and bad in all strains and you could get a world champ and just not give it the attention it needs or get it in the right setting as a pup and it may never make anything. All these dogs have the blood to be great, some may not have the brains, but I think that a lot of people don't know how to handle some dogs. I have watched several guys who hunt the same line of dogs and they can consistently get what they want out of them. Give that same dog to someone else and they can't do it.

Why don't you get off Horner's back, sound like your jealous to me. All you post is what you won from north to south which is great. What has Cornell won?...Tons of cast from north to south. MORE THAN YOU MY FRIEND.

ps. And I have yet to see his name in PROHOUND for SCRATCHED FOR FIGHTING MORE THAN ONCE! Thats the kind-of dog I WILL NOT OWN PERIOD! I'll walk to an empty before I walk to a dog fight.

There isn't a person in UKC,AKC or PKC that can't applaud John, Cornell and his team for what they accomplished this last year in PKC. Jealousy is a terrible thing.

Posted by chris baker on 01-02-2009 11:03 PM:

Have to run to those dog fights. Ha HA. I won't hunt a mean dog either. If the dog can't win on what he does then I really don't want to hunt it either. I do my best to call them for what they do and it gets me in trouble sometimes. Should have won a bunch more but always tried to be fair and not pitch my dogs and stuff like that. Guess thats the difference in me and most handlers. I'm not saying all handlers but some of them are no fun to hunt with. I enjoy the hunts and as long as we all play by the rules and the dogs look half way decent I have a good time at what I do. enjoy the hunts and hunting a nice hound. Hope one of those pups turns out and I'll be back at it again. Kind of side lined right now with not much to hunt of my own.

Posted by harper english on 01-04-2009 02:45 PM:

my dog has never been in a dogfight yes he has 2 scratches but he is not rough at all i will prove that to anybody that would like to see it have you ever heard of wrong place wrong time look at primetime buckwheat he also carried 2 scratches for a while but i have never seen anything rough out of him it just sometimes happens when you pack a male i got my 2nd scrath because i was winning the final cast at the illinois state champinship tom took 75 and 100 shut patrick and ransom out ransom treed for 50 and patrick was there and not treed in mr love decided he needed to eliminate the competition something mr horner also knows about getting scratche because your winning ransom ended up winning with 50 he recieved on my coon but i have set my year out without complaining at all and i will be bact to winning by treeing coons in 09 and by the way i am absolutely not jealous of anybodys dog power what so ever you can ask anyone who has ever hunted with my dog what they think of him he trees coons any time of year anywhere in the country

I know what you mean. My old dog was hunted in the hunts for several years and was scratched once for fighting. Let a guy take him to the Alabama State hunt and him and another dog got into it. He won't take any crap or atleast not much but have never seen him start a fight. He made a den tree and had to cut back in and the walker treeed and mine came in after the five and when he hit the tree the other dog bailed on him. What a way to get scratched. Guess it was better than one of the other dogs getting ran over and killed in the same cast. Also had a little female scratched once that would rather like you than bite you. Her and a female got into it and when they went in my dog came out to my buddy who was hunting her, she was half his, her back leg was all chewed up. They put them back on the tree and a male black dog moved out of the way and the other female came over and got her again. Thought they had the aggresser and went back to club and master of hounds said they had both been involved and wrote them both up.

Mr Horner

Might be laying up to enjoy the Family. Or to just enjoy life. Or maybe just maybe because they need a break . Jmo
