Thats a good point Sam, I wonder how they could enforce a rule that would require a judge to bring back the card personally? I can almost see a rule like that getting abused..like a hunting job who lost the cast, leaves after the hunt and then the winner's points dont get submitted...or card is thrown out, etc..

Making the rules is probably just as tricky as following them sometimes!

I brought up some of the off game and fighting issues after the 2 hour hunt but under the Authority of the Judge concerns to Allen G last week and he gave me a clear interpetation of the rules and how they apply. Unfortunately, I've tried to explain that to 5-6 other guys and only one agrees with me ( the correct way). The Others say "BS, not if I'm carrying the card!". I guess this is going to cause a few issues if there is only a few people enfocing this when others choose to turn a blind eye to anything that happens after 120 mins are used.

AMEN!! to often on here you hear people talking about fights and not knowing which dog started it.. rules say if you know which dog then scratch dog that started it.. if you don't know which do started then scratch both... but they think interference is the same thing.. i agree, interference and fight is two different things... and discribed as such in rules.. now that i was off topic i will shut up!!

I was thinking of this last night in between trees which didn't have alot of time as we made 8 trees and seen 7 good night. Anyways I feel once the 2 hrs is up the hunt is over no one CAN get plus or minus points, so how can you scratch a dog then. In this case if the dog's tree wasn't on the card what gives the judge or anyone the right to look up the tree and did they take the full 10 mins shining time to make sure there wasn't a coon in the tree also. This is just giving guys another way to get rid of the cast winner, to me.How many times have dogs been left out in the woods after the hunt is over for running off game and get away with it.

I maybe wrong but I'm pretty sure you have 30 min. after you turn the scorecard in to go to MOH if problems arise. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

i agree with a moderator for once.. LOL like allen said, we could all request that when it is time to change rules that our breed make a few changes... as for my professional, (OR STUPID) feelings about this, be it my dog, or your dog a ntch or grntch is suppose to be a coon dog.. if mine trees a opposem, runs a deer,, chases a cat,, whatever.. then SCRATCH THAT SUCKER!!! and before he/she goes back home and gets in the pen to eat, sleep or drink he/she is going to tree a coon.. might mean i don't get no sleep but if i would not have fallen short on my training then would not be off game messed with...

So, who wins the cast if the winner is scratched after the hunt, during the authority of the judge? Scenario: Cast is over, all dogs are gathered, scorecard is signed, Winner and judge head to the club, everybody else goes to the house. Back at the club, Winner is tied out to the back of the truck, and lo and behold, a cat walks by and Winner barks at it, before the card is turned in.
SCRATCHED! cries the judge. Who wins, and what do you do? You danged sure can't call the second place guy in the cast and tell him to come on over, because that would violate the cell phone rule and you would be barred for life. Throw the whole cast out?

Cell Phone

You need to reread that because as long as you DO NOT CALL ANOTHER CAST AND DISCUSS SCORES UKC SAID IT IS OK. YOU CAN EVEN CALL ANOTHER CAST TO FIND OUT WHERE THEY TURNED LOOSE BUT DON'T ASK ABOUT SCORES.

Thanks

The main thing is to score things as they should be according to UKC's rules, policies and procedures during a UKC hunt. In this case, anytime dogs come into a tree "after the judge arrives" (during hunt time or otherwise) Rule 5 (b) would apply to those dogs. Which...........rule 5(b) states that dogs coming into tree will recieve minus strike points (during hunt time only) if coon is seen. Otherwise, you simply circle their strike points. Yes, even if there is a grinner in the tree.

Maybe it's one that should be addressed with your Breed Association for discussion and possibly a change in the future? Until that happens you need to apply 5 (b) and score as suggested above. Goes for you too, John! lol!

And if the dog or dogs that come in, show tree or tree with the other dog or dogs treed on the grinner. Than they should be considered treed or not?

In this situation, do you scratch the entire cast. Rule 1 clearly states that you must hunt the time indicated. Once the judge begins searching that tree, he is using more time than what was indicated. Right or wrong?
