GOT A QUESTION FOR YA'LL NOT SURE IF YOU'VE EVEN HEARD OF IT OR SEEN IT; BUT I'VE SEEN IT AT A COUPLE OF HUNTS.
(TRACKER) DOES ANYONE KNOW WHO MAKES IT?

Posted by Mizzou on 11-08-2005 06:13 PM:

Hi-Standard

I have said it before and I will say it again! For the money, Hi-Standard is the best dog food for the money.

I truly believe that if an individual would try the Hi-Standard on their dogs, they would switch. The price of the feed, accompanied with quality of ingredients (very little clean up) will make most people switch feeds if they are not currently feeding Hi-Standard.

I like Blk.Gold,Pazzaz and Diamond is O.K. except that the waste is so smelly.None of these are readily available and first two are 5o miles away. Ran short and picked up a bag pf ADULT PERFORMANCE at SAM'S CLUB and dogs do just as well as ant that I've ever seen. Now I use it. $10.88 per 50#.

the pride

its the best i've found our coon club does like jake and buy a ton a month from a dealer he delivers it to our club every meeting night and brings a variety from 21/10 all the way to 26/20. highest is $15.00 for 50# lowest is $11.50 and they love it stay as slick and pretty as ever no matter how much u hunt them, i feed 22/17 lamb and rice in most types corn is the 4th 5th or 6th ingredient. i like it i fed pro plan for a while dogs didnt eat it and man was it expensive 24.00 a bag na i'll stick to the pride.

Purina is by far the best dog food on the market. I've fed it for many, many years. I've had great success with Purina. The dogs love it and always look great. I wouldn't feed anything else. Purina does a great job supporting the hunts and shows. Keep up the GREAT work purina !!!

I have been feeding Diamond for about Fifteen years, the cost is a little higher but if you aren't feeding a dozen dogs 300# a month what is a couple dollars to keep old cooner in tip top shape.

My dad has gotten into some deal with Purina where after you buy like 800lbs, you get it for so much a bag or something like that. We've just went in 1/2ers with him. Before, we couldn't get Hank to gain any weight, he looked like a bean pole, ask Coondawg, he saw him. He's such a beautiful dog now, you wouldn't believe it was the same dog. I think that we're going to stay with Purina for the big dogs, but I dont think that we'll ever feed anything other that Diamond to our puppies. It's $$$, but the pups are worth it.

I like Nutro Naturals myself. The HIgh Performance dog. Lots of protein and fat and no corn. Corn just rips my dogs up. I found the same ingredents and % of protein in a Kirkland brand that I buy at Costco.

Posted by gablefan on 11-15-2005 08:57 PM:

Old Yeller. It's ingredients are comparable to purina, diamond etc. and the price is $9.99 per 50lb. bag.

feed

If you look on the back, or sometimes it's on the side of you dog feed bag, you'll find where it shows the proven ingredients!! The first 3 ingredients that you read is what the feed mainly consist of!! If it reads corn as the first ingredient, then that's pretty much what you are feeding!! Also look at the protein and fat levels! To me, the fat is most important!! When your hound is running, the first thing his body burns is fat!! I feel like it is more important than protein!! I raise black and tans, so when I see that they are shiny and slick, I know that the feed is doing a good job!! I have also learned to feed a feed that has omega 3 or somekind of omega fatty acids. I have found that feeds with the omega, and at least an 18% fat level, that keeping them shiny and slick is not hard!! I have tried alot of different brands, but I cannot find a meat or poultry based feed, that can compete with diamond!! That's with what the feed consist of, for the money!! Diamond also has a 24/20 meat and bonemeal based feed that's around $12 for 50lbs!! I like the poultry based 26/18 the best, for perfomance, and overall maintaining their weight, through the cold weather!!
