Thanks everyone

We have a cool spell that makes it alot more enjoyable to hunt. Still need rain bad. Tracking is super tuff when they get away from the creeks and river. Still treeing coon but just not able to enjoy those long hard going races.
We were planning on hunting Smoke and Robin at the Missouri Federation State hunt but I think Robin just came in heat again. Bad timeing for the Federation Hunt but might be ok for the Quarter finals in Flora.
Have 4 young females all in heat and or going out of heat and now Robin. She just cycled 4 months ago so I hope this is just a false heat because of all the others.
Guess we will just concentrate on ole Smoke for the time being.
Most male dogs that have just been used on some females and totally surrounded by females in heat would have problems drawing out with 3 females in a hunt. Thats what Smoke faced last Sat. night but he just went hunting and had nothing but coon on his mind. He looked good and won his cast.
Wendy still has 8 pups and Pearl will welp this comming weekend.
Little Smokes will be running everywhere.

Spanky was the real deal, had it all. Got sick and went sterile around 4 yrs old, produced some real hounds early in his life. You can find his blood in a lot of the Mad Dog bred hounds. One of the things that Spanky was known for was the ability to pull a coon out of thin air, I have seen Smoke do the same thing many times, It's in the Blood! If anyone wants any more info on Spanky just give me a call 660-563-3710............Tim

I see alot of Ole Spanky in Smoke, Hard hunting (not a straight line hunter) may tree next to the truck or beside the next road, outstanding winding ability, trees a lot of coon without opening up on the ground, can tree on a locate, when it comes time to be a hero he can pull a coon out of thin air and will hold a TON of pressure..............Tim

Keith, I have you on the list. Hope that cross will happen but the female has to show us she is a coondog first. She is started but just hasn't turned the crank yet.

Tim, Pearl had 11 pups and saved 9. Five males and four females. Good lookin little rascals.
Wendy had nine and saved seven. Couple of them for sure show they have Coz Spare Time Spanky tripled up in them.
Not pushing to sell them for a little while yet. Might put them up for sale in about a month. We will see.

Had a one inch rain that has helped a little but now I remember what humidity is all about. Have to carry a towel just to keep the sweat out of my eyes. Tunning on Smoke and Robin will be out of heat by this weekend and then she can go.

Update

I havent had a lot of time to focus on coondogs the last month due to our extreme drought. Many of you know I make my living running cattle and this year is a bit more challenging than any ive encountered. Got everything slowed down now and gong to focus most of my attention to smoke and robin for the semi finals. Tim i think thats a good idea cause u know we would draw out together for sure. Went last night and treed two. Its amazing what a little rain will do for the tracking.

Smokes first litter is proving to be a success. They are ten months old and out of the 6, 4 are running and treeing and doing a good job at it. Talked to bill kaneal in wi. his buddy has a female and is super excited about her. said shes the nicest young dog hes had in a while. female in ne. was running and treein at six months. a male in north central mo. was running and treeing at 6 months. Taylor kellermans female from centerville ks was running and treeing at 8 months. he moved to ok. for work so i'm huntin her now. she ran and treed on both coons last night. The other two havent been messed with yet. These two litters we just whelped should be dandys.
