-- Gr Nt ch Mead,s Blue Jet 6 Again (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=432349)
Joe thanks for the picture of 6 Again. Pete-your question on how these compare with Bawler. First I will say this-Bawler and 6 Again were the type I would have hunted against any one, any where, of any breed, at any time in history. Several outstanding individual dogs came from these respective lines. What I have found in my personal experiences with them both is a greater % of the Jet dogs make it for me. Knowing what you want and selection are so important. John-sounds as if about half of Buzz's pups are young. I am more interested in what type of dogs he is throwing than the number that make degrees. If you do some checking on PADS of most dogs you will be disappointed to see the results. Dogs are listed as studs who have produced nothing. Breeding and maintaining a line of dogs is one of the hardest but most rewarding efforts I have ever experienced. Fix in your head what you want in a coon dog. For many that gets turned around to mean-what you think it will take to win in the hunts. Next question is-where are you at with the dogs you have? How can I utilize them to get where I think they need to be? And bred to what? And to those who have to cheat to win-it don't matter about breeding anyway-Persy Sledge's song "Cover Me" is their theme song. Hope to see you at Autumn Oaks and/or Flora.
CW
that pic isn't the best and I was going to delete it but as I look at it, it seem historical. The night that picture was taken I told ED just put the dog on the back of my truck I'll take him. lol.

AND SEVERAL YOUNG ONES IN THE MIX
I was first shown how to sack a coon as a teenager and still do this on a fairly regular basis. Those that hunt with me know that I slip behind the coon while the dogs have his attention, grab it by his tail, being careful to keep him shook down and then put it in a burlap sack-just be careful if you try this. No matter the size of the coon-the method will work. There is a half grown coon loose around here that I see every day or two and leave feed out for. The people tried to raise it as a pet but he got mean. I have petted him and he growls but that was about it until the other day. While working on my lawn mower and in a bent over position, I guess my buddy the coon decided he was hungry or he wanted to play. Anyway he jumped on my leg and started crawling up my pants. When I jumped, he started growling and climbing faster, determined to hang on to me. He and I danced a little jig, around and around until I got him off. After catching my breath I had a good laugh. Under other circumstances I would have headed to the hospital for rabies shots. So now if I begin to drool over these good looking Blue dog pictures you post, at least you will know why.

Zones
Well, Lucy is in heat so it looks like the folks going to the zones in Clanton Alabama can breathe a sigh of relief LOL!!! Might have to keep a male pup when I breed her. From what this little female has shown me in her 2 years, these jet bred dogs definitely have what it takes to be at the top!! Thank you Mr. CW for giving me the opportunity to own such a nice young hound. She has been a pleasure to have in and out of the woods.
The flood gates have opened up again down here. This Summer of 2013 has seen the most rain ever on record and that record keeps getting higher. We have a hog hunt planned for this weekend- that may be in jeopardy now with the flooding. Regardless I do need to eliminate as many of them as possible. From time to time I receive request about older materials-blue books and coon hunting magazines. Two calls this week have me digging around to see if I can help. I enjoy helping people with this sort of thing-a lot of people helped me years ago. Ed Meeks, Delma Smith, Ted Warchak and Walt Jones (Black n Tans) were more than generous to me. I try whenever possible to as they say now-pay it forward. The great common denominator between then and now is and has always been the Raccoon and these Bluetick Hounds. Our equipment and methods have changed and often times improved but those two main ingredients have remained pretty much constant. Availability of land and the time to pursue our sport seems to be shorter supply with each passing year. All the more reason to enjoy your hounds, your hunts and your friends right now, along with the memories you are creating. Even this rain can't dampen that!
Joe and John-enjoying all your post. Joe looking at Hope and Junior treed together sure makes me think about them being "TOGETHER!"-and 63 days from then. John-wish I could get Lonesome and Big Boy on the same tree just to get one photo of that-they are built so much alike. Hey lets just get Junior and Rejet in the same photo. I do enjoy your post. If the Maddy female of Scott's was at 100% we would all be talking about her as we are Junior and Lonesome. I will be easy to spot next time you see me headed your way-I'll be the guy with the camera. Thanks again guys!
Jamie-you know your kids need a pup from I Love Lucy to play with and yes a male pup out of her would be just the ticket. Lucy is young and I know you have all kinds of plans for her. I enjoyed getting to hunt with you and her-look forward to more. Zack Blount's Bronco is a full brother to Lucy from the same cross, maybe we can get the two of them in the woods next time you come down. I tell all of you I will be your number 1 cheerleader. No reason to fill left out around here. Bob Kennedy has started working his female and you could here him smiling through the phone lol. Gary-thanks for the pictures of Belle and tell tylerman thanks for posting them on here-good luck with her this hunting season. John you are gonna have to start thinking about crossing Lonesome to something pretty soon-huh? Keep em in the woods-hope to see some of you again soon.
hey C.W. im really thinking of penny and lonesome,i look at all the pedigree on both sides and don't see how it couldn't work? 6 again jet 6 and so on Rambo II smileys blue levi, rambo and so on,penny is almost 100 % alone and lonesome will be 95% of the time, both huge houndy dogs with good confirmation.he will be performance sire for 2014 and so will buzz. gonna try the annie lonesome cross and a shnook pup with him also, big plans if I can live that long im thinking I need 50 more years don't see it happening!!! you take care and think of a cross off one of your dogs and mine I will make the trip to do it!!!thanks for all the support and advice!!! oh lonesome had a not so good night fri nite 2 trees by self couldn't find coons then last night at buddy hunt he won it all!!!

Ed and I have just completed the process of getting Gr Ch Nt Ch Mead's Bl Rejet DNA and on the performance sire list. This decision was based on the pups he has produced. Hope to have Rejet back up at Ed's soon so we can get even more females bred to him. Ed will not offer a dog at stud until he proves he will reproduce. If you want more information on him you can contact Ed or me. My intentions are to do the same with Big Boy. Both of these dogs have put some nice young dogs on the ground. Both are line bred Jet dogs and both are houndy type dogs. Ed does not give a rip about the bench but it does not hurt that these two look good on timber and plywood. 6 Again is the sire of both. The Junior dog in Virginia and Buzzard in Illinois are also out of 6 Again and are excellent choices to breed to if this line of dogs interest you. Either way good luck and thanks for reading.
that intrests me on him going to eds I wanna do an annie up x rejet cross, annie is outa buzz and precious

Our temperatures got in the low 60s this morning and have been in the 80s during the day. High so far this summer has been 94 I think. We are dry and in the 100s most summers at this time of year. Bobby Carter and I made a short hunt with a couple of these females. Our intent was to stay dry and tree a coon-we did. Swamps aren't just flooded, they were running water, over the hip boots flooded. Our humidity is unusually nice as well-feels like Fall. I like when everything is in sinc with nature. Many of my females past and present would come in "season" each fall and spring. Have plans to make a cross on Lady Bug from Big Boy X Lady ( 6 Again x Tree Slammin Lady). Lady Bug is all hound, like Big Boy, she has the loudest mouth and best locate of any dog on the place. Does not open enough on track unless it is hot but when she does, she is fun to listen to-Cadillac on the tree and puts on a show. She trees a lot of coons by herself. She is so mild mannered I expect her to be a good Mama to some houndy, loud pups. Hope to see many of you soon!
A male pup and I getting ready for the woods earlier tonight. Been hunting the little fella by himself and he does not seem to mind, in fact I get the impression that he likes it. Lots of muscadines on the ground and squirrels are hitting the acorns hard-plenty of them too. As I have said before plenty of mud and water also. Farmers Almanac is predicting a cold winter. Should make for some real good coon hunting-sure hope so.
Cw
is that the pup you were telling me about. how you doing ? Looks a like you hot down there the weather here been pretty nice, today although its raining now. Are you going to the A.O.
Joe
Just returned from Richmond and a great time. Was delighted to see so many old friends and fortunate to meet many people from this Bluetick board that I now consider friends as well. I do like the attitude of this bunch of Bluetick guys-they not only want to win, they expect to. Surprisingly the weather was responsible for producing our best BS sessions. Saturday afternoon showers caused a large group to crowd in under Ed's canopy. The weather cooled off and the stories and jokes began to fly. These sort of impromptu get togethers are priceless. We had from 25 to 30 people at times-everyone was welcome and this went on for hours. A virtual who,s who of the Bluetick World- a purple ribbon haze was floating above the canopy. My ride summoned me it was time to head South. I left with a few more pictures and a lot of new memories and some new friends along with a satisfied sense that the future for our Blueticks is in good shape. Thanks again everybody!
CW
I talked with Ed while he was at the O.A. and he said you were there. Hope you had a good time. Dogs have been looking good lately. you can feel the change in seasons coming this is my favorite time of year. Joe

This is Maddy, a Night Champion female out of 6 Again, with her owner Scott Phillips-along with Ed and I at Autumn Oaks. Maddy was one of the dogs in the episode of Tailgate Adventures that featured Ed and the Jet Dogs. Terry Tucker's Boomer dog was also featured. I have had the pleasure of hunting with Maddy in Michigan and Georgia. She is the type I like, I want and that I breed for. We hope some line bred romancing is in Maddy's immediate future. We are an extremely selfish lot -so don't ask me no questions and I won't tell you no lies.
Just got back from one of my early morning rounds. Bow season for deer will come in this weekend so it is not as safe after that. One advantage of no longer living with a "Plaintiff" is being able to go any time I wake up. Had a good hunt, she treed at 6:15 and I got to the tree at 6:30. Still dark enough to use my light and I had seen eyes walking in. I petted her up a little and then backed up to take a better look. I counted several times, shook the vines, squalled a little and looked from several spots around the tree. I know there were four up there, may have been more. At least two were kittens and two adults-which made me think there may have been another kitten. My experience is that it is unusual for two adults to be up there with a sow with kittens. I write these down in these yearly calendar books and have since the 70's, so I try real hard to make sure only the truth gets written down-want it to be a good record(s) for my boys or someone one day. This is the coolest part of the day. I got to go chase some dollar bills now-hope you have a good day. Best day of my life so far!
the morning hunting sounds real fun,but when I get up and get going my mind gears to work and at nite hunting? gotta try it sometime its really hot here now!!!

We said good bye to one of our friends tonight. We are not sad about his departure. With just a hint of Fall he and his kind are entering their silly season. Treed a coon too-so it was a good short night.
