Rob our turkey came back in jan 14th and go;s out jan 28th, i always wait till spring love to hear them and call them in legal like i always do. PS back is better but i still know it;s back there.--- see ya

Atl was a good choice. Pgh maybe not.
Chuck usually hunts spring gobblers and will hunt in the fall, but not much unless he has his archery deer. I don't hunt turkeys anymore, but I enjoy seeing and hearing them. Had a couple memorable hunts. Most end....then I shot and it ran or flew away 😀 But one, after I emptied my shotgun on it, I ran it down and caught it. There I am an empty shotgun in one hand and a turkey beating with its wings in another hand. I finally got its head down and stood on its neck and chest until it died. Started carrying it home and could see lice on it...yuck! Was happy to see the neighbor driving toward me, he stopped and gave me a ride home.

Yeah Rob, I had 2 scares last night. Before the 357 packin ATV rider, the dogs ran into a camp yard. I thought I saw someone at the door and I asked Chuck if he saw anyone. He said he did; so I told him I was going over to let them know what we were doing. The guy had come out and was standing in the dark watching us. I was about 20' from him and he spoke to me. I hadn't seen him so I screamed. We both laughed and he wished us luck, but I think my heart took a couple of xtra beats.

I AM NOT MUCH FOR LAND OWNERS AFTER DARK. HAVE HAD SEVERAL RUN INS WITH SOME DECENT ONES. ONE A$$ WHO THINKS HE OWNS HALF THE MOUNTAIN. LETS JUST SAY THAT HE WOULD NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR TO BACK HIS MOUTH UP. TOLD US THAT HE WOULD SHOOT OUR DOGS. TOLD HIM IF HE DID I WOULD SHOOT EVERY HORSE HE OWNS. THAT SET HIM BACK AND HE LEFT. HAVE BUMPED INTO HIM WHEN NOT HUNTING HE JUST STARES WILL NOT SAY ANYTHING. SOMETIMES I WISH HE WOULD. OH WELL. I WAS ON A PKC HUNT ONCE WHEN A FRIEND OF MINES DOG WAS KILLED BY LAND OWNER. HE HAD PERMISSION TO BE ON GUYS GROUND. LETS JUST SAY THAT NIGHT GOT UGLY QUICK. JOHN GOT ABOUT 3000.00 AFTER COURTS.

We never start out on land that we don't have permission to hunt on, but some nights end up on property, we don't. Haven't had any NASTY confrontations with anyone while we've been coonhunting. But had a few with people Chuck arrested when he was a deputy game warden. One guy threatened to burn our house down. Chuck is great at just walking away from that kind of stuff, but I go a little crazy. Told him if anything happened to our house, I'd burn his and shoot him when he walked out. Most people he arrested just smashed our mailbox, threw dead deer or roofing nails at the end of our lane.
Can't imagine someone shooting your dog, if they give u permission to hunt....must have been some nutcase! Can't imagine how someone could do it even if u didn't have permission.
I've caught and returned or gave away (if no one claimed them) dozens of dogs over the yrs. Chuck says leave them alone and they'll go home, but I'm afraid they'll get hit on the rd or shot before they make it.

We were very fortunate that the storms this past weekend kinda surrounded us in Mitchell Co. but no direct hits. It was a crazy 48 hours with 3 fronts passing through. Albany, Dougherty Co. and Worth Co. probably has the most and wide spread destruction. The clubhouse missed it by 1/2 mile.

Corky, thanks for the good luck wishes. Pretty much even so far. But planning another trip tomorrow.
I saw on FB that Gen Mattis is picking Rear Adm Craig Faller for an adviser. Faller is from Fryburg, just a few miles from here. Kind of nice a local guy gets picked for something like that.
Hope all u southern guys/gals are safe away from the tornadoes.
