WB, I'm reading Bruce's thread. I have a bookcase full of horse books...nothing on dogs or dog training.

Was hoping to get r dogs out tonight, but my hip hurts and I'm still chilled from being out waiting for the trimmer to come do the horses. I wanted to weigh Dandy since he was a yr old yesterday. He looks like a gangley pup yet, but he weighed over 70 lbs and Ruby weighs over 75 lbs!! She looks heavy, but I didn't think she'd weigh that much. I have her cut back to 3 c of food a day and she acts like she's starving.

It rained here almost all day. This afternoon, it quit for awhile, the sun came out and we had a January rainbow.

Going to the Salamanca casinos tomorrow because I got $90 freeplay😉 Hope I win because we're going to Erie on Thursday to celebrate a friend's bday.

Hey Price me all my friends went tonight too me and Storm one down Strom said she was glad I was shooting got baseball practice till 7 tomorrow night after that I am good if you want to go late Tyler wants to go Thursday night if want to bring your friends a come along but will Connie let you out two nights in a row ? But I didn't get wet I dodged the rain drops Friday looks like a rain out but I am good Saturday night if you can make 4 nights in week I will wonder what ever happened to Linkous ? Lost at the casino today, but I'll try harder to win tomorrow 😉

Talked Chuck into taking the dogs out tonight. Was really starting to regret it when they were out of our hearing distance (650+yds) and we were walking through mud and water in the rain. Finally heard Ruby treeing and the last 350 yds got pretty easy, even though it was through brush and treetops.
Old DEAD EYE shot twice and it came down really pissed off! The dogs kept her from getting away, but Chuck had to shoot it 2 more times.

I had no clue where we were. Came out on a road and Chuck told me where we were, UGH! Only walked a little ways until a car came by, I flagged it down and asked the woman driving for a ride to our car. She saved us a 1.3 mile walk.

Rob, I came home today ahead enough to make up for yesterday's lost. I hit right off the bat for $100, if I would have went with Chuck, we probably would have cashed out and left, but went with friends and we set up a meet and leave time. I don't have the willpower to set in a casino for 2 hrs and not play a machine.

REx the coyotes were all killed east of the miss, it was a 2 day contest and was conculed in wytheville va.,the winner got $6000.00 --300 hunters competed the winner had 20 coyotes for 2 days hunting another showed up with 31 foxes, i hope they have more contest like this. -- see ya-- PS all were hunted no roadkills or trapped . I;m gone

Pennsylvania Predator Hunt
Laurel Highlands Coon Hunters will be holding their annual predator hunt February 17-19,2017
Open to all.. but the animals taken must be from the state of PA adhering to all applicable state laws including a state hunting license and furtakers permit.
Coyotes, Red Fox Grey Fox, and Raccoons(no calls allowed).
Trapping ,hunting, or calling.
Last entry by pre-registration or at the banquet in person on February 12,2017 between 4:00 and 6:00 PM.
Entry fee is 15.00 for first category and 5.00 each additional category.
Payout TBD by entries in each class.
1ST 50%...2ND 30%....3RD 20%

Trapping season for fisher and bobcat is out, but everything else is in until sometime in February. It's just been so wet we're waiting for it to dry up alittle. We want to set some fox traps here. There are 2 red fox that like to go thru the back yard, I think just to agitate the dogs. One was hanging out with a spike buck.

We went hunting tonight. Ruby treed in a hemlock. Then we started back toward the car and they took off through the corn and were gone. When I left Chuck to get the car, they were 740 yds away. Just as I got to the car, I heard a shot. I took off out the rd trying to catch up with Chuck and the dogs. Went almost a mile, when Chuck flashed his light at me. He was about 100' back a lane and he had Dandy. We loaded Dandy and noticed someone walking with a light to our right and Ruby was 300 yds in front of us, but she had quit barking. Chuck said the guy that shot was only 40-50 yds away from where we were when he shot. We started to whistle for Ruby, just as we saw her coming back an ATV started up. Some guy probably in his late 20's came up to see what we were doing. He said he had just shot his revolver at 3 coyotes. We got Ruby and got out of there. The dogs have lights on them and he said he wouldn't shoot a dog. We've had 2 people we know tell us that coyotes started yipping when they heard the dogs barking.
So now we're wondering if the dogs were chasing coyotes or if coyotes were chasing our dogs or if the kid was full of it.

I DO NOT LIKE YOTES. BUT I WOULD WATCH THAT YOUNG GUY. PROBABLY JUST LOOKING FOR A SHOT AT ANYTHING. BUT I HAVE HAD YOTES COME IN WHEN DOGS WERE BARKING. I HUNTED DUCKS ON SATURDAY AND GOT THREE MALLARDS. GEESE WOULD NOT COOPERATE. CLEANED THE DUCKS WHEN I GOT HOME. MY NEIGHBOR AND HIS SON HAD JUST COME IN FROM TURKEY HUNTING. THEY HAD NO LUCK. I GAVE HIM THE THREE DUCKS, SINCE THEY NEVER HAD THEM. HE WAS GLAD TO GET THEM.

WE HAVE A THREE DAY WINTER TURKEY SEASON. THIS IS ABOUT THE FOURTH YEAR. WHILE CALLING DUCK YESTERDAY, I HAD GOBBLERS ALL OVER CALLING, WE CAN ONLY HUNT THE WINTER SEASON IF YOU NEVER GOT ONE IN FALL.
