Hunted Lumber alone tonight

He treed a big den tree about 300 yards. Then he went 500 and struck a good running coon at 900 yards bang treed with the meat. The ole shotgun pushed that ole coon right out and he was ready to fight. Lumber is not a kill dog by any stretch
Oh well if he can get them up I can get them killed

Here are some pictures of my pups out of Sounder and Dixie. I know that they aren't the best pictures, but you should be able to get an idea what his pups are going to look like.

They're going to be good looking, houndy rascals with plenty of size. They all seem to have big mouths for their age. I really like their actions so far. They have tons of energy and are constantly using their noses. They're still just puppies, and only time will tell if they will make the grade, but they are definitely some of the nicest pups that I've ever raised. I don't think a person could go wrong breeding to Sounder.

I think you will be very pleased at what you see out of your pups. Time will tell! Thank you so much for giving my Sounder a chance in the stud pen. I hope He gets a chance to a few more people happy!

Hunted tonight

I had Lumber Earl hunted a black and tan Lumber struck in at 560 yards on a old track nad treed at 659 we drove around and Lumber was treed a the black and tan was trying to split about 40 yards away. Lumber had his coon.
Next drop he went 759 yards and treed in a hole in the bank we called it a night. We got a late start and someone beat me to my honey hole. First time I have seen a hunters truck down there in 6 years. I didn't hear any dogs treed or gun shots.

Next drop he ran a coon in a whole and I called it a night. He is getting better all the time.

Hunted different terrain tonight with Lumber

Cut him loose he went 725 yards stuck and made about 8 barks and treed. He had a big boar coon. I know I need to site my gun in for sure. The coon walked out very mad and Lumber had his hands full but he got the kill.
Turned him loose while skinning and he stayed in close. I finally got him to go on and he just treed about 400 yards away on a tree with cut overs all around and he had nothing. The wind started picking up so I called it a night.

It was fun. Can't believe the weather changed so quickly. The one coon got in a hole on us. There will be more nights to hunt after my surgery. Not sure how long I will be layed up so the dogs will be fat for sure.
At least Whoodoo got his on the outside where your brother turned him loose.
I saw a fat one run across the road on the way back so they where moving.

Well last day of season

I have a MRI today and not suppose to drive. I reccon they will tell me when my surgery will be sometime next week so hunting will be out for a lon while.

The weather this season has been horrible. I have hunted less this winter than ever before, and it looks like we're in for another round next week.

My Sounder pups are doing good. They're definitely lookers with good mouths. I can't wait for spring and decent weather to get here so that I can get them in the woods.

I hope it is that easy. Cutting into my calf is not going to be a good few weeks but if it gets me back in the woods then that is the choice I have to make. At least Feb is a slow month for hunting and hunts. I'm hoping they don't have to do anything.

Sounder is going East

Robert Randalph will be taking him and hunting him out East.
Robert was a good enough guy to let me have Timber Sabrina and Knight when they was younger and allow me to work my magic with him In return Sounder will be going east.
I will let everyone know where he is out east and you can work out the breeding or hunting with him with Robert and his son.
I will miss him but I only hunted him once during season and that bothered me. I have been blessed with coondog after coondog and I have plenty to finish and another to make a coondog in the future.
