Sounds like

you had fun deer hunting. Im not bowhunting this year but will gun hunt for the first 2 days. With the dogs there just isnt enough time in the day to bowhunt and coonhunt. The pups are doing good and Im training 2 for a friend. 4 pups at a time can be hectic but they all listen real good and dont need to be leashed. The first time out the new pups went right along and one didnt make it back and was barking lost so he was easy to find. One is a littermate to my Ciscoe and acts just like him. Both should turn out as they both like to hunt. I still plan on hitting the hunts next year but will have to decide who to hunt. Angel will be in some for sure. She is a pleasure to hunt. Its been many years since a nitehunt and kinda look forward to it. How did you do in the last hunt? Take care and say hello to your wife.

Kitty's in heat again. Didn't go to the hunt.

I had Kitty in with Holly who came in. I think she brought Kitty in to soon and messed up her normal cycle. She went out and came back in. Found this out when I went to load her up for the hunt. Don't think I've got but a day or two to breed her. So you know what I did. Short time span to catch her + Having job = Cryo Joe x Kitty pups. I was planning on holding off on this cross but Joe was a natural since his first time to the woods. He was treeing at 4 1/2 months old, regularly hunts out at a mile or so and his 4 brothers are doing well to. There is no doubts about what he is and what he will be. Several have tried buying him even where he's at now for over the $1,200 I sold them for. He's one of those super pups I was breeding for whose bred tight enough to PRODUCE. Did I mention LOUD he's got a horn on him. It's a little higher pitched and carries real well. Another one of those 2 mile in type hounds you can hear at that distance. NtCh. Kitty is a coondog for sure, from a cross that produced a pile coondogs, and there again bred super nice. She will make GrNtCh long as something bad doesn't happen, just like Joe.

Here's what the PED will look like for these pups out of Joe and Kitty.

For those that don't know Daisy's mom and dad are the two I kept while in college and gone to Iraq so I didn't loose my blood. Man was hunted but was almost killed by a shotgun blast to the face that ended his hunting career and Ann was hunted very little but would trail and tree just fine. Neither ever saw a hunt. That's the only reason they don't have hunt titles.
Daisy will be titled as she is a coon treeing machine, period. She is a winding fool and will get treed quicker than any I have ever owned and is producing some LOUD, Early Starting hounds. However, I have two other frozen semen studs I'm breeding her to first, one here in a few weeks.

Hey Dr. Gummy,
She had me all messed up. I sure was looking forword to breeding her to Rock but she wasn't in. The she came back in apparently. I've never had one pull something like this but have heard of it before. Of course it would happen to me. Only choice I had on that short of notice was breed her to Joe. He the only thing I would want something out of and Kitty at this point, other than Rock and Eddie Terry's Sherman dog. She's already back out or real close to it today and I didn't find out until Sat. evening. Think next time I may make a trip up at first sign and leave her until whenever it is and then come back and get her. I was sure liking him, the PED, etc... and hate it didn't work out this time. Next time it will happen one way or another.

1st Time by himself for Cryo Joe.

Well Joe has now been in the woods 6 or 7 times. Took him out last night we hunted for over two hours finally hit one track right in from of my cousins house. I have seen coons cross there but always around 9, this was around 11. As most know it's supper dry and he just couldn't move it out of there very easily so I finally talked nice enough to get him to come on to me. It was one of those spots where it's to thick to walk through but not thick enough to walk on top of it all.

Steve. I tried to get Kid out coonhunting but you know how that went. I think its a waste to leave him sit till snow flys. Got the house appraised so I can put it on the market and get out of here. I will miss the house but not the location or the pool. Hope to build a pond and I have the machinery to use for free to build it. There will be no more you cant hunt him on coon or hes not good enough. A guy is bringing over a Prarie Chicken for me to mount. Never thought Id be doing one of those. Made 4 trees last nite and Chief and Ciscoe split treed just a short ways away from the big dogs. Took 2 20 pounders and one tree was a den and the other was a giant pine and couldnt find the coon. Did see eyes for a second but that was it. Thats all thats new here

For down here he was a pretty good sized deer. So was the Doe. I try to shoot does that are either real old or young but not good breeding age and then the bucks I shoot the ones that aren't as big as they should be for thier age. By doing this I have ended up with some pretty nice bucks around and several does that produce twins. I do something simular with coon. There I just try to keep the population from getting to big and places where there aren't enough I put extras in the woods. Down here with the swamps and low areas and a warm climate most of the year if you don't regulate the population mother nature will kick in and kill them all of from disease, etc... for ya. I've seen it time and time again. Have a spot full of coon that no one else hunts or can hunt then the population gets to big and boom everything gets wiped out by disease of a slow painful death most of the time. We've had areas in places down here that the coon would catch something and we would go in and shoot em until we quit seeing sick ones. Then other healthy ones from the area would move in and fill the gaps.

Heading to Nevergone!

Daisy is in and about to be bred to another passed frozen stud. Think once this litter hits the ground I'll be on to finishing Daisy and put her in the hunts, finally. This was the other main one I was wanting to breed her to if at all possible. It's a shame Daisy hasn't had a hun title before now but I just couldn't let myself hunt her that much and risk loosing everything I had worked on all these almost 20 years without anything to replace her blood.

Kitty is out but isn't to where she won't stand at all. Having females can be a pain.

So she won't be making the Zone Hunt. I do plan on stopping in up there anyway, however. I think she would be fine but I'm not going to possibly mess up someone elses hunt to hunt her. So looks like me and Daisy are on to Nevergone for another stud she'll never know. From here on out I'm keeping Daisy and Kitty far away from each other so hopefully they don't both come in together again. I was sure looking forword to the hunt. See you guys tommorrow.

Drive, Drive, Drive!

Had a question about drive. If you want something that'll go these should. I've only had one pup out of Daisy that wouldn't flat go that I know of. That pups still hunts what some would consider deep at a quarter or a little better. Most all mine hunt well and what I consider early, around 7 to 9 months. They range out to 3/25 or a mile real regular sometimes more than that if the coon are real thin. They will flat go. However, they aren't blowing past stuff, they hunt very hard all out to those distances. They aren't straight line hunters. They hunt anywhere normally in front of where you turn them though. Once they've got things figured out they'll tree from right at your feet to 3 miles. With or without competition. Daisy is also pretty LOUD for a female and is throwing that in her pups. Several have said they are the loudest pups they have ever heard. I'm not saying that but they have plenty of volume. We're talking people who are legally deaf coming by wanting to know what they are becuase they can hear them a mile or better away.

Drive?

These have drive alright. Kid Rock treed his own coon at 4 months old with no help. Treed his own bear at 1 years of age and can lead the pack and be so far out front at times my brother would think he was on deer only to find him treed ahead of the pack. And these are all top bear hounds with nose and speed. Here is one of the trees where Kid was there first. Speed,guts,drive and tree power at its best. And best of all is a good nose and knowing how to use it. These dogs have it all. This tree was after running the bear thru a swamp full of blowdowns and 3 feet of water. It takes determination and a TOP dog to stick with it like Kid Rock does. Steve has the right combination when it comes to breeding for results. I had never met Steve until I purchased Kid Rock from him. I have to give him credit for all the research and only breeding for results. Steve and his wife are some of the nicest and most honest people you will ever meet. I am truly honored to have them as my friends. The world needs alot more people like these 2.

Really excited to get Daisy finished out in the Hunts.

Unless you have seen her go which few have so far then you don't know what I'm talking about but she will get hooked in a heartbeat close or near makes no difference. Trail or no trail. She runs with her head up all the way into the tree and regularly trees coons off of no trail at all. It's not that she's silent on track as as soon as she smells coon she barks but she regularly gets hooked when there is no trail to be had just a coon sitting in a tree somewhere.

Now I've got to sit back and wait to see what we have. I've got 3 females spoken for and one male. So the only other thing I'll be reserving any spots for, for now, will be on two more males.

Family and new medicine

Well my wife had a whole crew of people over this weekend and the new muscle relaxers the VA tried putting me on had me sick, so no hunts. Got to run up in Ind. to get Daisy next weekend and then hopefully I'll finally get Kitty in some hunts. She needs to get finished and quick so I can start putting my time in Daisy once the pups get off her.

Sure wish I didn't need to go pick up Daisy this weekend.

With the rain we've got the coonhunting should sure be better now. I'd be taking Kitty to some hunts for sure. Well that all starts up next weekend. Me and Kitty will be hitting them hunts up until she gets bigger with her Cryo Joe pups.

Steve, this pretty much sums Sherman up to a T he is the same way as what you have written about your Gip.He does it in short order.

Our Sis gip I got back from Ed has started & is coming on nice she is a litter mate to your gip she has been in Tn for 2 weeks now & he said she is a TREEDOG.

O I haven't forgotten about Sherman. Sure looking forward to breeding Kitty to him once she's made a trip to Jayroe's Rock hound in S.C. I'm almost exactly where I want to be in my breeding program. A bunch of nice hounds, bred close enough to each other to be a consistant producing group of hounds.
