This law isn't not worth a penny then. Why don't they make it for all hunters that hunt. I tell you Illinois is one of the worst state to get any thing passed.

Chuck we ended up with from what it looked like 3" give or take,I'm with you brother on spring. Mike we gotta crawl before we can walk,it is a crock on s**t,but it's a start. rrs send me a pm on some prices & where your at. All Illinois State Coonhunters & coon clubs should sign a petition and send it with our support on bill 1216,I'll bet that would perk their ears up.

We have been crawling long enough. It is time we start walking. If this bill is only going to support those two hunts I say don't pass any of them. I am boiling.

I agree Mike boiling. look at it from there point of view look at all the revenue the states gonna make on trespass tickets off of just some good Ol boy running his hounds minding his own business only in Ill may as well be Russia! Now anybody that knows me knows I'm gonna go get my dog, whether it's a argument, knock down drag out, whatever I just well get bail money in sock drawer and that's what they want to end the FREE CAST OF HOUNDS. Now at least south of greenup I'm able to hunt just about anywhere only one or two city slickers that own one acre and think they own it all. but I am quick to let them know thay don't, I know we're every property line is and who owns it, for now but things change evryday, Someday none of us will not be able to hunt nothing because the government will have everybody's guns! So let's stop letting this Polititions walk on our rights!!!!!!!!! GUTS PI$$ED & GONE

Mike, I understand exactly how you feel. I have spent hours on the phone getting support for this bill. But this bill will do us some good. If we get this bill passed and we have no problems arise at the ss and world hunt this year related to this bill, then it gives a little more leverage to proceed for a year round bill. I am on the board of directers of the Illinois State Coon Hunters and have talk at length with Jim Temmens. We are not just gonna be satisfied with something like this either. But as I have said before, it is a start in the right direction. It is not going to happen overnight but you can bet we are trying to do what we can for the coonhunters. Please continue to support this bill. If we don't get this one, we may never get the one we really need.

Posted by Mike Milam on 03-06-2013 11:40 PM:

You know Bobby If I was told the truth the first what it was all about I wouldn't be pi&^%$ so much. I get tired of the ole saying tell then what they want to hear. I hope you are right about next year getting our feet in the front door for a better Bill. I just can't understand why Farm Bureau and trappers and deer hunters are bucking us. I am going to get my dog no matter who property he is on. He is my property and I have a right to retrieve it no matter what the law says. I am sure there is lots of other coon hunters feel like I do.

right to retrieve

Mike, you are right, but especially deer hunters think coon hunters poach deer at night hounds run deer ruining their hunting leases etc. If I wanted to poach a deer sure would not be hauling a hound along.. Hope legislature does something, but would not get my hopes up, just not a big deal to them, no big $$$ lobby or voting bloc....

Posted by Bobby Reynolds on 03-06-2013 11:59 PM:

Mike, I sure do not understand the trappers going against us either. They may not know how much they are hurting themselves by doing so. I agree. Somewhere in the begining of this whole bill someone knew that it was going to come down to this. I can promiss you this, bigshots of Salem sure will support the bill for fear of loss revenue. I think most people would be suprised at how much money is generated at the ss and the world championship. We just have to hope for the best and do what we can.

Boys just like Charlie Daniels said a drunkard wants another drink of wine & ah politician wants ah vote, if we pressure 'em & they think they might lose that paycheck & pension they'll see things our way,you can bet on that.

rrs and Bobby I agree with both of you. It just does not seem fair to treat a group of hunters this way. I started coon hunting back in 1958 and you could go any where and the farmers and land owners wouldn't say one thing to you. To me this has become a business and sportsmanship. Hunting is suppose to be fun and enjoyable something you take your kids out and teach them something about the woods. That all mighty dollar has took over and has made hunting a business. One of these days someone is going to get their fill of it and shoot someone. I think the coon hunters are tired of being pushed around. Have a nice day.

Thumbs up

Well the only thing we can do is pressure the Reps. into signin' this bill the way it should be,tell 'em 2014 is comin' & we can remember that far back, remember we're coonhunters who can find their way around in the woods ... at night even. Let 'em know we won't forget who was on our side.

Posted by Mike Milam on 03-07-2013 08:59 PM:

I wish it would be that easy TD. What needs to happen is the no one out of state can lease ground in this state. If you look bet half the people that leases farm ground is out of state. We are the one pay taxes to this state and live here and I know by rights we have no say so that we can hunt on anyone's land. This deer hunting has got out of hand and half the deer hunters that are hunting couldn't set up or find the signs they need to so they can hunt. I still say the should make every hunter kill four does before they could get a buck permit. Then you would see the decrease in the deer population or the amount of hunters that would hunt this state.
