hope you get back at it soon I like reading your stories about your hunts.if I was closer I would help you out on keeping your dogs in the woods.my kids keep me on the go,my daughter goes to college at ucm and we hunt fri and sat nights and my son and I hit it about 2 times thru the week.

This sucks. Coon season starts Nov 14th at midnight. All I can be is truck man. No walking.
Hopefully I can go hear some dogs anyway at some point.

Hunted with Terry Estill with Spud Earl Howell had a Hawk II male and a black and tan and I turned Lumber loose.
We treed two doubles and a single and one slick tree. I got to set in the truck and listen since I cant walk.

Hunted tonight

I was truck man again. Hunted Lumber and Terry hunted Spud off Thorn x Lace cross Earl hunted a Hawk II and a pup. We treed a double and a single and one den tree.

We treed 4 and Lumber sure sounded good on all tracks and trees. I can't wait to be able to walk to a tree and really pump him up.
Spud looked good off Thorn and Lace and Earl's Black and Tan did a good job as well.

Hunted by myself tonight

I took Lumber he went about 500 yards and opened on a old track made about 10 barks and got treed. I was disappointed in how he treed he was all over the place. He met me off the tree and ran back and treed real hard. I think is is a product of me not being at his trees the last 4 hunts where coons where shot out. I don't think he was tied at every tree. Oh well he got some tree work and I let the shotgun bring down the meat. He didn't seem to mind the loud boom as long as the meat fell. It took a while to get him to go on hunting but finally did and the garmin stopped working so when he came in I called it a night.
First night alone for me since my calf injury and I made it to the tree very carefully.

Good night

First dump Lumber Boomer and Spud stuck in at 150 yards and dog blew up treed at 225 with a huge boar coon.
Next drop dogs struck in at at 240 yard and at 780 dogs blew up treed with the meat.
Last drop just Spud and Lumber Dogs horse raced down a corn field. Hit the creek and went .79 miles tree right beside the road with the meat. Easy walk in. We was done by 9 pm.

He has shown me enough I think he will make the grade here at Breathless Blue Kennels.
He has lots to learn but well on his way.

Hot fence

Lumber ran into one last night! He sure didn't like it.
We ended up treeing 2 doubles and saw at least 4 more sets of coons sitting around. Not sure why so many are doubled up. It has been a boar and a sow so I think they might be breeding early who knows.
Spud and Boomer did a good job! I hoping Lumber forgets about the hot fence.

rough night of hunting tonight

Hunted with Terry Estill with Spud I had Lumber. We treed two dens and two slick trees. We had enough for the night.
I decided on the way home to make a drop with Lumber alone. Well he went 500 yard opened maybe 5 times and treed. I went to him and he had his coon. I petted him up and rewarded him with the meat and came home.

I will hunt Lumber solo Wed. night. Coons have been a little tough the last two days so might as well take an old dog and see what tricks he can pull. This dog is going to make me walk if the coons aren't moving.

Took Lumber alone

He hunted decent and finally got treed and had a nice boar coon. I called it a night and came home.
Weather looks like it might hold a man in for a while. Time will tell.

Hunted tonight

Lumber and I hunted with Terry and Spud and Earl with a young walker male. Lumber got first tree on one on the outside. We ran one in a creek bank. Called it a night. I decided to make a turn alone and didn't even get a bark.

I had Lumber. First dump they worked a old track and made a den at 600 yards.
Next drop .83 and treed hard with the meat. That Spud dog sure is a nice tree dog and acts like his mommy for sure. He is all coondog and plenty of go go go.

Took Lumber alone tonight

First drop he struck about 200 yard and ran a coon under an old car and junk.
Next drop cut him loose he went about 300 yards made 7 barks and tree with the meat.
Next drop he went in about 150 yard and just treed a layup and it was a big boar coon. Lumber is not a coon killer that is for sure.
Next drop he went in 400 yard struck and made about 15 barks and treed I finally got the coon to look through the vein mess he was in. Dropped him down with the shotgun.
All in all a good night. Lumber didn't tree as hard as I thought he would but never the less he had the meat.

Not bad for a full moon and snow 17 months old.

I must say Lumber is doing well as expected. He doesn't mind finding a coon alone. He is very accurate so I like that as well. He hunts about 500 yard in a circle right now but he seems to find a coon and get treed so I'll take it. I don't need anymore that go till they tree because I don't have the hunting ground for that. He will do his fair share of winning I believe by the time March rolls around.

Going to waiste. I need to get him out some more. I have mainly been pushing Lumber this winter. If I don't do more with him in the future I will sell him. He won't be cheap but may have to make room for more future Breathless Blues.
