The majority of the pups out of Smokey that i have hunted with all have the same things in common, they all seem to start quick, they all have average or above mouths and they all seem to have a coon when they get treed. Hes definitly done his part in the breeding pen

I hunted Puff for Bo. When I got him, I considered him to be barely started. He was 11 months old, I think. I hunted him 4-5 nights a week. Even in August 85 degree weather. I always have done, " Make 2 trees, whether 25 minutes or 2 hours and 25 minutes" .. anyway.. Puff came on strong. What I saw from him, Good mouth, independent and not trashy. He would split tree at 12 months and real good about having the coon. Saw him work a coon out of waist deep Soy Beans and have it. A "puppy" when it came to attention. He wanted so much to please me. At 13 months old, I put him in a night hunt, came 8 minutes from winning it. A walker got treed and shut him out on strike, Puff backed him on the tree, but, beat Puff by 50 Plus points and winning 1st place.
I also drew Tilly out in a night hunt with my female. She is out of Smokey. Owned by Dan Kraut. She won that night, again showing me what Smokey dogs do. I bred my Nite ch Female to Smokey and they are smart acting good looking son of a guns. They are 4 months old. I hope they act the same.

What type of tracking ability do they have if it's 5' out will they take a track to the end ?

not sure what 5' is suppose to be? if it's degrees my weather is close to the same as your weather there in il and they do a fine job on cold frozen ground. hope this helps!

I've never seen his pups stand on their head and be really slow, it depends a lot on the females that's crossed on him, a lot of pups IMO get a lot of traits from the dam, Smokey hisself wasn't the type to keep u out all night boo hooing, but I can remember on occasion him working a track tht was a little colder than I would like, smokey was so natural, he hunted by hisself and was super accurate, hunted hard, usually always got him off a tree somewhere, independent, and fun to hunt, he never ran a deer the best I remember, but he would tree a opposum and I'm sure he still will, Smokey is gettin arthritis and he's rusty, sure don't look like the dog he once was, just order him some glucos plus from dogbloom, Smokey will produce some
Nice hounds but I'm sure there's several better hounds and producers out there, they all don't make it, every cross is different!! If anybody wants to breed to smokey just give me a shout, we will work it out, Thanks for all the comments on smokey everyone!!!

P.S my Katie female is bred to foggy Mtn blaze, check blaze out on the stud page, she's due tomm, should be a nice cross!!

Smoke

I hunted smoke in his first UKC hunt tonite and he was highest scoring dog of hunt with 575+ and picked up his first win. This dog has really turned it on the past couple of weeks he has been split treeing with coons and holding all the pressure you throw at him. Special thank you to Brandon and Bo for selling smoke to Russell and myself. Smokey is throwing some nice pups and the cross with Jenny , Russells grand nite all the pups are starting good. We off to Goochland tomm nite to see if we can make it 2 in a row. Thanks again guys!

Smoke Wins Again!

Put smoke in his second UKC hunt at Goochland VA he had 425+ won first place registered and was highest scoring dog! This boy is on a roll treeing coons just comes natural to him, by far best dog I have ever owned!!! Time to get nite champion out of the way!!

I have really enjoyed hunting train he's really a nice hound got the mouth and just good mannered dog I can't waite to finish him in the the hunts and hopefully try to grand him he's jus about accurate as they come I jus wanted to say thanks to you and your dad for sellin train to me I will keep you updated on him thanks again
