If hunting alone where does the competition of having the best dog start? You gonna turn the same coon lose in the same place 4 times and see who gets it treed the fastest and he will b the winner.

No sir the dog that treed the most coon was the best dog. Then and now if its with a pack or not. We have seen what being the "quickest" gets us.

the best dog always wins now right? Are the dogs at the hunts today really competing against each other to see which 1 is the better dog? Some times I wonder if there could be a better way to title dogs

Lots of hunters around here an across the country still enjoy company, some good dogs around here that has never been in the woods alone, they hunt 4/5 nites a week and support there club anytime the doors are open, they still meet at the cafe every morning and pick on each other and see who earned bragging rights from the night before, some of you have forgot that!
