A lot, but that's not the point. I'd pay twice the entry to know I was getting a good judge.

their wouldn't be grumbling or complaining if the rules were enforced! And when trees absolutely do not touch its not a judgement call when dogs pull 150 yards to another dog trees its not a judgement call when you recast your dog while all dogs are trees or handled its not a judgement call when there is absolutely no place to hide a coon its not a judgement call!!!!!

$KC has no problem getting the best judges at their big hunts...
I have been on quite a few truck showdown casts. I have never seen a cast that didn't go as smooth as butter.

PKC hunters are professionals, hence the name, Professional Kennel Club. And Tar they would probably pay you some of that foo foo money to stay home.

alright now, had this conversation with a fellow this morning. Some of these cheaters been at it a longtime,20 yrs plus's, with their famous self proclaiming righteousness. We're infested with them down here,their pros.Person circles a slick tree, they cheated,plain and simple. Just saying.

o we are not supposed to take the ukc world hunt seriously? Just a bunch of clowns goofing off? Well I guess I had the wrong impression! Ill be completely honest I really liked my judge I would have him over for dinner any day! Real nice guy.......but some really bad calls were made that I will say nearly put me over my breaking point. I felt bad for my judge I drew some guys I actually thought would be straight up and was excited, boy I was wrong! Ill admit I wasn't in a great mood after I saw how the first dump went, but I will still minus my dog when he has it coming!

John, while I feel your pain, that is not true. I drew a miserable judge in the SS Semi's this last spring. We had a terrible cast. While I agree with you whole heartedly, qualified non hunting judges are hard to find.

Eventually we are gonna have to go to more hunting judges, or pay them more

I cant remember but I think they pay the full time Judges $900 and their Hotel at the SS. Depending on where you live you could spend more than 1/2 of that on gas. Then you also have to eat, that isn't enough to miss work and be away from home for a week. Not near enough.

Oh I know that there can't always be great judges, but PKC has a whole lot more big hunts and seem to overall have solid judges. Just my experience. I just feel like for one night of the year for UKC's most prestigious hunt that they should be able to come up with 25 solid judges. They only need 4 or 5 the second night.

I went to the finals back in 2006 and after the judge I had that night I feel the judge should just be the 5th voting member of the cast. Judge should keep card, time, take all calls, control cast, make calls, but three members should be able to out vote the judge.

Does no one remember the big possum blowup on the final cast a couple of years ago? There was only 1 judge needed that night. Who was the judge on that cast? Complaints about judges come up every year. There is always someone who is unhappy with their judge. This year is nothing new.

I have to judge every time I go to a large open event it seems like, and I am stuck as a hunting judge at SS and the World hunt in most casts. I hate it. I don't go sometimes in fear that I may have to judge

I guarantee you $900 isn't enough for me

Ukc has no interest in putting money into coonhounds..they collect money and give back nothing of assest value.
You pay for your degrees..entry fee, fuel, time off..ect.
All ukc does is print paper telling you what you already know.
There needs to be more return on our dollars..lets start with atleast top judges.
Aint no newbeis judging NFL superbowl.
The whole thing is ran so poorly it looks rigged from outside looking in.
If any other sport ran a WORLD CHAMPOINSHIP like this was put together, there would be serous questions asked...
Good job UKC....Ill bet if it was a poodle show UKC would fly in judges from all over.

If UKC said that the judge was right, then why is he a "bad judge"? Do you think that Cheyenne will get on the message board complaining since he "should have won"? Did Rhodes' dog have a coon treed?

looks like it would help if all cast members knew the rules.one member knowing the rules against three that dont and a judge that dont ,well thats a hard row to hoe.ask a scoring question on here and you get ten different answers.whats bad they cant even read the back of a scorecard.you will get a bad judge here and there but if ukc had a voting system might help.a bad judge could only get away with what the othe three let him.

Is this true ? I didn't think a guide or spectator or anybody that a judge sends with a handler to a split tree had any authority other then confirming the dog was being handled at the right tree. Beyond that are you not just supposed to wait there for the cast/judge ? Was the fourth dog even declared treed ?

Or maybe it don't matter because with a non huntin judge you don't need to keep a majority together to score a tree. A lot of moving parts tho at the point a handler leaves alone from a tree they were told to wait at ...

How is this scenario even possible ? You said the guide and judge went to score another dog. The Tucker dog & handler was scratched during the cast hunt time by the Judge. UKC upheld it. YES, When you cuss at the Judge, you will most likely be scratched.
I know the Judge personally. He is a honest, no nonsense man that has a Master of Hounds license. He has won a World title in another registry before. He didn't have a dog in this hunt nor any favorites. There is a way to go about things and this handler didn't do it.

No Cheyenne won't get on here complaining. And Nick was right to question and the call and would have probably went his way if he hadn't got himself scratched at the club house. The tree in question was not a coon it was a circle and ended up deleted. Everybody on the cast knew the rules including the judge who took the question and cast returned to the club house. Both Shack and Sambo treed their own coon, Sambo had 75 on strike and Shack 25. After the question they had 38min to hunt. Cheyenne's opinion they both had 2hrs to hunt and his should have gotten another treed and didn't. It is what it is. Congrats to Sambo.
