Can this be true? I see where they even had one dead cast. Do you mean that 3 of the Top 20 coonhounds in the world can't tree a couple of coons in 2 hrs in the coon capital of the world? I also heard that the dogs that advanced weren't the dogs that treed the coons. Of course I wasn't there so this is just hearsay, but I heard that the 2nd tree dogs were the ones that ended up winning the casts. Can this be so? What in the world was going on up there last night? What will they do if they have a dead cast tonight in the Final Four?
I hunted in the aka world hunt there several years ago certain ally not the coon capital of the world treed coon both nights but dogs had to hunt to tree them they were thin where we hunted both nights

It's happened twice in the last 5 years.

Flora and low scores.

The Flora IL area is a real good place to tree coons and test a coondog. Usually real good hunting with plenty of coon.
This years World hunt just proves that conditions can get tough anywhere. Bad nights happen everywhere. Coon don't always move as much as we'd like.
Notice this final 4 cast stayed in the same location all night. They had all dogs handled a couple times, they could have called timeout and moved to fresh hunting. Usually when you move to a new location you'll get a fresh start and tree some hot tracks. The more you can move, the bigger the score. Notice I said usually. Sometimes on a bad night you move and end up with nothing.
Either way, staying in one spot or moving 5 times, It's an even playing field for all dogs on the cast.
I've guided several casts over the years. $kc handlers ask to go to a big section and stay there all night. UKC handlers ask if we can move several times. The scores are usually low (below 400) $kc and scores are higher (400-800) UKC.
These days dogs are being bred and trained to be more independent. It makes it about impossible to move much.
Go easy on Lambert. He's a good guy. He is still kind of a Green Horn. He converted over from the bench show world just a few years ago. Still has lots of questions is all.:-)

Oh my goodness when I make a post, I get slammed. But when Allen Gingerich says/reports the very same thing later that night no one says anything about him.
