-- Night Hunt Cast Judges (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928417093)
I use to never want the score card because there are times where it cost me points. I would be writing down tree calls, or listening to two cast members argue and trying to resovle the problem, when my dog would get treed. Next thing I know a cast member trees there dog. ( my spectator would tell me later how long my dog had been treed). Then one nite I drew out a dog that was running the purnia race( the old system). It was a three dog cast and I was winning after 2 drops. Well the 3rd drop my dog got treed and the purina dog backed him the 3rd dog treed split by himself closer and two the left a few yrds. The purina dogs handler was the judge. He told the guy that was split to go handle his dog and wait there why we handle and score our tree. We walked in handled our dogs as I tied mine up he says hey your scratched. I calmly said and why is that? He said when we walked in your dog grabbed my dog by the head. I said really. Mind you we walked in side by side and it never happened. I said ok but we need to go to the other handler I want to vote on it and then I will ? it. The purina guy had a paid guide and we were over an hr from the club. I knew there was nothing I could do it was the judges word vs mine. But I could make him go back to the club and he wouldn't be able to use his guide. He was so mad he never shined our tree. Went to the other dogs tree and that handler said were shining his tree. I found his coon for him and now the judge was really ticked. Of course the MOH said he had to rule with the judge but he knew what was going on and that this guy would never judge another cast under him or this club again. I never got mad but I learned a lot of lessions that nite. Now I ask to carry the card and when I don't I'm not afraid to speak up when I think something was done incorrect.
