The American flag flew over slavery longer than the confederate flag. Confederate flag flew from 1861-1865. The American flag was flown prior to this flag and after until slavery was abolished after the war.

Its just an excuse for haters to hate. Heck fire I hate the mexican flag, African flag, Cuban flag, and all those other foreign country flags but they get to fly em here in the good ol usa. Yet California has outlawed the confederate flag. Makes a lot of sense to me.

I fly my confed. flag on all my trucks , my reason is not for hate but to honor men and women who had the courage to stand up for their beliefs just like today, thugs get away with looting , setting fires , calling for police to blame , we need more people to do what is right , not politicly correct ,but honest and truthful . thank you to all vets past present and future--- god bless

Most of my ancestors fought for the Confederacy. I don't fly a Confederate flag. But I certainly don't see a problem with it. Those men that served in the Confederate Army deserve to be honored too the way I see it. But all to often their forgotten as the stain of our past. For me, it's all about heritage!!!!

Only one flag means anything at all to this U.S. citizen. While I have no problem with the confederate flag, I'm not willing to go to war or die for it. Had I lived in that time, probably so. As for the RED, White, and Blue I am more than willing and ready to defend her at any cost, including dying. IT'S the symbol of freedom that allows each of us to make the choice to fly and display other flags if we want, but I personally can't understand why we want to. Like Mike, my blood boils when I see her disrespected, and each time I hear our anthem played, I think of all who have stood up and fought so hard to defend those rights we have. Yep...can bring a tear to an old man's eye it can.

OLD GLORY FOR ME! She has been through much, and always came out flying high and proud. I'll display her at my place with PRIDE. The rest....well they have their places in history, but I live in the present....most times. lol

The Confederate flag is apart of our American history! Our past is our heritage, right??? I served in the armed forces for 10 years (active duty) 1992-2002. Old glory is our national flag, and is to be honored and respected. The Confederate flag is our history, and should be remembered! But for me, my ancestors deserve remembered for the price they paid for their country (not forgotten). Even though they lost their war, they we're still Americans, right???? They certainly believed in their cause, though it was a "Lost Cause." Nevertheless, they we're American Veterans and shouldn't be disregarded and not remembered IMO.

The final straw will be over guns. They will come after our guns one of these days, and that will cause a revolution IMO. They keep forcing their unconstitutional agendas down our throat as we speak, and we'll keep taking it. But when they come after our guns, well, that my friends won't go over well for a lot of us red blooded Americans (North & South)!

The confederate flag will always be flown at my house. The south fought for states rights not slavery. The Fed gov wantes they're cut of the cotton sold. IMHO it is not a black/ white or even a race issue,the real issue is lack of faith and trust in Government solely because of government corruption and abuse on both sides of the political aisle. No matter what most think of Edward Snowden what he did was criminally wrong but morally right, similar to the decisions our founding fathers had to make when the English King and parliament refused to honor or abide by the Magna Carte that was written and made law after the English civil war in the 1650's which the royalist lost. Both of Americas major political parties RNC/DNC are full of traitors from top to bottom that have no intention of honoring nor abiding by the Constitution.

And imho it is only going to get worse the backlash against the police is similar to the backlash against the Redcoats in the 1770's not because all police are bad it is because they enforce the law only on the civilian populace, not on the politicians, every once in a while they throw us a bone by sacrificing one of their own usually when they have no more use for him or her, that gives the illusion that the system appears fair. There are more people in prison on less circumstantial evidence in our country than is currently available against many on both side of the political aisle. If this ship is not corrected soon, trial by Combat may become the only option to Kangaroo courts. Just my thought and observations.

sad to say the least.....�The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Texas is allowed to reject a license plate design that featured a Confederate battle flag.

In a 5-4 decision authored by Justice Stephen Breyer, the court held that, "When the government speaks, it is not barred by the Free Speech Clause from determining the content of what it says."

"We hold that Texas's specialty license plate designs constitute government speech," Breyer wrote in an opinion joined by the unusual line-up of Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Justice Elena Kagan. Breyer said that "Texas was consequently entitled to refuse to issue" the plates that were submitted by a group called the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) and prominently featured the controversial Confederate battle flag.

The group sought to honor the reputation of soldiers who fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War.

Breyer said that because private speech was not at issue in the case, "just as Texas cannot require SCV to convey the State's ideological message, SCV cannot force Texas to include a Confederate battle flag on its specialty license plates."
