-- Who Would You Like To See Featured In Coonhound Bloodlines ? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928399251)

One more: If you do an article on SHOWING HOUNDS, I would like to nominate Whitney, and Debbie Killough for the article. I think it is WONDERFUL that showing is a part of hound events. I like a good looking dog, as most of us do. These girls came from seemingly nowhere, as unknowns, and have achieved tremendous success on the show bench They have won some very prestigious titles with their hounds.

I'm done. Just a few that have/are making a difference, yet they have received very little recognition.

SAM LITTLEJOHN. My dad and one of the most dedicated bluetick breeders I have ever known. he Never was one to seek out any recognition and he deserved a lot! but he past away several years ago. He was a true bluetick man! Loved the Vaughn bred dogs but he wasn't afraid to add any blood as long as they had dark eyes, good ears, good feet, a big mouth and was a "coondog"
WISH he was still here! I'd no doubt still be hunting today!
( I'll be back to hunting in a few years)

SAM LITTLEJOHN WOULD BE A GOOD ONE. I BOUGHT A PUP OFF HIM SEVERAL YEARS AGO. HE TREATED ME VERY WELL AND I GOT A BEAUTIFUL PUP THAT MADE A NICE DOG.

MAD DOG

Id love to see the Mad Dogs featured! It would be nice to hear from the Tim and Paul about their original vision, and all the bumps along the way. These 2 men have been great influences on me and many others.

Jacksonville, Illinois. You will be surprised to know what hounds he had a hand in, what top hounds he is responsible for, and how much he has impacted the breed!!

Chuck Coats

He would make a great choice. He's made a very big impact on our breed and done so with a small scale kennel . He has raised trained and hunted top reproducers andPurina Points leaders and winners . He's as knowledgeable as anyone in our breed. But has always kept a very low profile!

JOHN J HENNEMAN, Thats who I'd like to see featured. He's the source of Del Cameron's dogs. And many more. He's been breeding dogs long before most were even a twinkle in their parents eye.

Posted by Mike Lovekamp on 02-25-2015 11:57 AM:

Unheralded

I'd really like to see someone who has done a lot for the breed without all the notariety . Those big name people are written about a lot . Someone who's always looking to breed a better hound and nows how and what to do to achieve his goals. Without national attention!

Mitch Mueller, Jeff Timms, Chuck Coats, Jim Combs, Ed Mauney..... lots of under the radar breeders that have made an impact.

Of course Ed Mead, Paul and Tim Vaughn, the Ucthmans etc etc etc have made a huge impact.

Dave Dean, Warren Haslouer etc etc etc. Many of the new guys have no clue where their hounds really came from.

GOOD MEN

Frank Erwin, Jack Smith, and Ed Mauney. All 3 have had some great hounds through the years that have impacted the breed in a positive way and they have introduced and helped a bunch of young people get into this great sport of coon hunting.

Opinion

Id kinda like to read a good write up on Scott Vandenheuvel and his hounds over the years. His adds and dogs caught my eye back in the late 80's early 90's in full cry......over the years any time I bought ssomething outta his dogs ya could be durned sure theyd start on their own and tree a coon.
He has made a buncha crosses over the years that produce good ole coon treein hide hounds.....
Scott gets my vote !!
