Reddawg has ended on places of refuge every time I've cut him loose. Now that we actually get a xpl hours of darkness it should help.

finally

Finally managed to sneak out tonight in between fatherly obligations. Got the girls off to a dance at school and the boys got to play a little bit.

Good night

The high winds made for rough hunting last night, but my older female put this bobtail boar up last night. Been a while since I got a boar with no tail, weighed in at 30 lbs

We have hunted all 8 nights so far. Been really rough, we only have 59.

New Berlin Hunters?

I have a section across the road from me that is like Fort Knox. All through the year I heard dogs running in treeing in the creek bottom. One night the man that owns the property told me to keep my fricken dogs out of his land. I told him that my dogs don't go on his and tried to explain that it wasn't me. Well last week he caught these guys in there. Turns out they are from New Berlin and they did the same thing last year! Fricken slob hunters make it harder and harder for the the guys that go out and get permission and keep that access open for the next year. So if anyone knows who this is, PLEASE PM me!

I've hunted 6 nights and it's been rough too. I've got 5 in the freezer.

Urban Coon Hunting

You realize that our coon hunting areas are diminishing when your dogs have to tree on an electrical tower. Tried to take a picture of the coon up the tower but he was too high my pic didn't come out.

I don't know if anyone else is having the same problems we are but we hear other dogs every night. Never ever have had this problem before. Dogs always have to go deep usually ending up on land we aren't suppose to be on. Is anyone else over run by these one year wonder coon hunters?

Throw 1000's of coni's and snares out there and welcome to Jackson County Iowa until middle of December.

im glad im not the only one that seems to be having troubles. thought it was my dogs just running to be running, thought about cutting a leg off him to slow him down. maker has been going deep, seems that there are no coon in the areas i hunt, funny thing is i have more new land then ever before and still have the same problem. i have only harvested 6 coon this year, normally its 6 coon a night. ive been hunting a silent close range dog named magnum and he trees some here and there with dens, leafy trees, and 4 of the 6 coon harvested are his. i hunt my go get er' maker and he trees with coon in trees always on land i dont have permission to be on. id prob have another 10 coon if i could shoot them. ive been leaving him sit in the dog box cause im afraid of where he will end up. opening weekend maker ended up 1.68 miles away treed with a coon in someones yard, this past fri night was 1.48 miles deep, across two game farms, way above someones house with the meat, but what do u do? i just dont think the coon are out there, something is going on. my fur buyer told me the most coon he has seen from his trappers is 11 for the whole season. says his best hide hunters are complaining about not gettting any coon. he told me my 6 coon are the most he has seen this week. what the heck is going on?

The high corn price over the last few years/Golden Marlin is part of my guess. Knew a guy over by Kevin White that was quite proud of killing those corn fed coon.....????

I've heard area farmers "brag" about killing over 100 in the warmer months by poisoning and just going back at night with a .22. Then I go out there during legal harvest season and find myself leaving some for seed. Doesn't make much sense, but that's the way it is. I think rumor of fur being worth something gets ppl fired up to trap or own a dog for a couple months too. Another reason why I love hunting December, January, and February.

i agree with the poisoning, ive heard of plenty of farmers who killed 100 or more coon with mt dew and fly bait, dnr needs to crack down on this!!

The WI DNR frustrates me greatly. I'm sure they'd look at this situation like deer. AG TAGS are the biggest joke to me. A yuppie moves to God's country from the city to start an apple orchard business. They are appalled that the deer would eat their apples, so 1 phone call to the DNR gets them over 100 ag tags a year. Now local hunters come in with rifles 12 months a year, and kill um all. Mother does are shot and left behind are their newborn fawns left to die. If they cared that much about the wildlife, they sure have an intertesting way of showing it. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, so when enough farmers are complaining about coon dmage, who's gonna miss a few coon?

dnr doesnt have a clue of what is really going on. bout like most of our government, they are a business plain and simple. if the dnr makes money they will turn there head for the few who B**ch and give them a bone to keep them satisfied. the deer hunting thing is out of control and the dnr just keeps pumping there heads full of $*it about how many deer, i dont buy it, deer are on the decline also. wildlife as a whole is declining do to these 20 acre piece of heavens everywhere destroying there homes, add in ag tags and deer hunting season starting mid sep to late dec, and ag tags to hunt all year, and you got a thinning population of wildlife. if there is a shortage of hides this year on coon, the price will go up and again we will have more ppl out coon hunting thinking they are going to make it rich lol. i have heard more hounds this year then ever before.

Thanks. 2 of them were layed up (all balled up so they were there awhile) and the other was some what of a short track. The little guy is holding his own for 9 months. He's still got a long way to go.

Cody all of my hunting spots I've run into people hunting them...talk about piss a guy off. Then there's another group of them driving around shining the trees in the fields for coon. Is it no wonder my sorry dogs can't tree a coon right now? I'm fed up lol.

I've yet to see a truck with a dog box in it.
