Go Man Sam, Timber Jack , and Burning Ben were all in our kennel at one time. Ben turned into a good dog and a better dog than Sam, but neither could hold a candle to TJ in their prime. As Alton Key and Bill Wallock said, TJ had that extra gear. Some call it drive, some call it speed, I call it heart!

You're an old fart lmao. I'd sure like to sit down and talk dogs with you sometime. I can't recall if my first hounds had Timber Jack in them but I'm pretty sure they didn't but the other two you mentioned are in everything I hunt.

If they had Sallees breeding, there's a really good chance they had Timber Jack. They had a female littermate to Little Girl 2 and Scarlet Fever that were granddaughters of Timber Jack. Shane bred Outlaw Timber Girl to Burning Ben to produce this litter and sent a female to them. They bred this female to a male out of Outlaw Jack (son of Timber Jack). That is the top side of Ranger in a nut shell.

The only Outlaw dogs in my first ones were Billy the kid and what he was out of. I'm pretty sure the Timber Jack dog isn't in those papers but I may be wrong. That was 20 years ago and I don't have the papers in front of me. I'm sure your Jack dog was a hell of a dog and I can tell you're proud of him. Have to remember he's just one of many pieces in a puzzle with many, many pieces. Thanks to you and all the other people that have bred nice hounds there are a bunch of good ones out there to choose from. When I started this post it wasn't because my dogs lack drive but rather because I was looking for something that had drive to breed to so I didn't loose that. I've seen some pretty lazy dogs in all the breeds and have no use for them. Thanks for your input. For now I'll have to wait and See how these planned Ranger pups will turn out and then go from there.

BTK was out of Burning Ben X Jessie. Ben was out of Famous Amos X Betsy and Jessie was out of Red Oak Mike X Bear Creek Ruby. Famous Amos and TJs mom Dawn were half brother/sisters from the same type of cross. Betsy was out of Ace and Henry's Queen. So Burning Ben and TJ were cousins. That's why these dogs crossed so well on each other. We bred a few Famous Amos daughters to TJ and a few TJ daughters to Ben. There were 6 GrNtCh that came from these crosses. Moonlight Kate was from a similar type of cross with Ben thrown in twice through Ratt and BTK.

Richard I'm pretty sure I can find Walker dog (and more) in just about every line of Redbone out there today that is winning. But since these dogs aren't even in the 3rd or 4th Gen pedigrees it doesn't matter right?

Yep , Ace was inbred Timber Chopper from a son and daughter of TC. Timber Jack had Timber Chopper up close 4 times. Ben was heavy Timber Chopper from Amos x Betsy so he was TC 5x. BTK had Timber Chopper 6 times, Moonlight Kate had Timber Chopper 22 times. Doc was Fireball on top and Timber Jack on the bottom through his mom Daisy who was out of Moon. Moonlight Bo was out of Doc x Kate so throw another TC in there 27x. Yeeeeeeoooooow!

T-Top started with Rock who was a son of Go Man Sam. Rusty Red was out of Go Man Sam. Any more questions? lol

Pretty sure if you look that Rock (think the name is actually Rocky) was bred to Roxy his half sister out of Go Man Sam to produce the T-top Rat dog so they're doubled up on Go Man Sam. Then Rat was bred to Raven and if I remember right both of her parents were out of Bomber. That's a lot of Go Man Sam in there. I've sure had good luck with dogs from that stuff. I don't know anything about the Sam dog but he sure seems to be a foundation of a couple well know lines. Can you tell me about the Sam dog Allan? I saw somewhere you said you had him in your kennel at one time.

Straight from the Breeder...Donnie Miller told me himself that Betsy Momma was maybe the best dog he ever hunted and she was also Full Blooded BLACK AN TAN...He also told me out of all the dogs from this breeding that Burning Ben was the Weak Link...

Bill Wallock was my kennel partner and he was handling him for Rich Osborne. He was a consistent country coondog with a good mouth and was a nice steady tree dog. Nothing flashy and not a fast track dog. He was an above average pleasure dog.

Ya Donny was about to kill Ben. He wouldn't hunt for him. Bill Wallock rescued him from the thrown of death. He wasn't much of a dog when we first got him up there in WI but he developed into a really good one. He was a late bloomer for sure. Ran silent for the first season but caught a lot of coon on the ground at 3 years of age. He got over 180 coon that first coon season in WI. He was a meat dog and if it had a white strip running down its back he was all for that too. When he was 4 he started becoming a competition dog and at 5-6 he was tough to beat and was a legit first strike , first tree dog. I think Ben just needed a change of scenery. His grandpa was inbred and his mama was crossbred. But they were all some of the best to ever live. Ace, Queen, Betsy, Amos. I'd take any of them.

The Black and Tan makes sense because we bred him to a littermate to TJ and the entire litter was Black and Tan. Roger Gibson said Betsy was silent by herself but when you threw her in a hunt she was a first strike dog. She and Ben are the only ones I know of that were like that. Betsy was a coondog and she won her share of big hunts. She spent a few months in our kennel. I hunted with her later in life and she could still get it done fast at 8 years of age.
