if the change was to move to April so be it,the members voted for it.But i can't under stand why other associations want to leave there early spring dates to later in the year.Is their something some body knows differently or just coincidental things happen.

more power to the Redbones!

Larry, I agree with you it would be nice to know the answers to those questions! It sounds like to me that some board members don't know whats going on or wasn't given all information! As Dean said he wasn't even contacted!

Andy,

Could you clarify for us. Are you saying they are going to re-vote at this years redbone days when you say our vote will count?

It was explained to me by our president that our by-laws dictated when bids had to be submitted for redbone days etc.. Maybe it would be in the best interest of the association to post a copy of these by-laws on our new association website and put a copy of the minutes from the meetings for all to see. It has been my experience that transparency and open communication whether you agree or disagree is the best policy.

It is time to roll up the shirt sleeves and assign some committees to get to work contacting zones and sectional hunt contact members and get busy making changes to accomodate the date change for 2015 if that is the quickest we can make this happen. Quit worrying about losing the 4th of July date it is a done deal!!

There are members willing to help if asked. If you want to hunt at national days you will make the effort regardless of when it is held.

Lots of help

The board has good people on it and looks like lots of just regular members willing to help with this . That is all GOOD.
I would like to remind everyone that last July when this motion passed we had a bunch of discussion before the vote . We talked over the facts that school was still in, those who farm may have conflicts, other groups may take the old date, hot weather concerns, cold water, coon movement, new location option and the fact that we were leaving it up to UKC to pick the date. All this was covered and debated at that meeting ,when no more discussion came up we voted. It Passed... I'm ready to help wherever needed. I'm listed in the red book , been a long time Redbone supporter and breeder . This is going to be a good change ,can't wait to see everyone in April at that first hunt.

Jeff

It is my understanding that the motion made at national days was to (look at & investigate changing the date to the nearest date towards the last weekend in April. ) Kelly Hyde was at the meeting at cedar grove & I believe the minutes were accurate . So the date change has been approved by UKC & I guess a final vote by the members in July on the date changes will take place.

Not sure how the zone hunts will work out . I have our zone hunt in September . Guess we will cross that bridge in due time.

general meeting minutes

The minutes in the general meeting at southern day did not mention anything about looking into the change , it was questioned in the general meeting and I confirmed the minutes did not contain those words and claridfied the motion also did not contain them. Did the minutes in the board meeting contain these words. ??? if so how did they get added. and why weren't they read that way in the general meeting. ....not trying to divide our association, just telling the truth about the meeting I was in. The more we can all understand this issue the better we can deside the direction of our association.

I was at the meeting last July when you made the motion Kelly and it was about changing the date of the hunt...not checking into it. There was discussion about checking with ukc about available dates in april...but that was after your motion. And there was considerable discussion after you made your motion....much more than there would have been over a motion just to look into a different date. I think everyone at that meeting knew full well that they were voting on the date of national redbone days to be moved to the last weekend in april or as close to that date as possible.

comes down to the truth

It all comes down to the truth and weather people hold the truth and what it means as a standard that our leaders must go by. No matter the organization or group.
The truth is that this motion read as follows . I make a motion to. " change the date of National Redbone Day to the last weekend in April or the closest weekend to that date that UKC will allow".
Words mean something and we need to all tell the truth as to what was voted on and passed at the July 2012 meeting. Anyone who tries to twist the words of the motion or add words to it to change the meaning are doing a disservice to our association. This will not go away. It is time that we all hold the truth to a high standard and follow our own rules. I try to stay positive about our association and look toward changes that can improve what we currently have. As a member I would think we all would want that and to allow new ideas that are presented and passed according to our own rules to become our new way. Think hard if you willing to accept something other than what is the truth. It's not just your own character your effecting.

Kelly, I know exactly what I voted for and I think everyone else who voted knew without a doubt what they were voting for. Was a mistake made in the way it was written down....maybe. but the people who were there all heard with their own ears and know what was said so a mistake should not change the vote or the outcome.

Truth

The motion was: " Change the date of National Redbone Days to the last weekend in April or the closest weekend to that date that UKC will allow". Exactly.
Everybody that was there knows without a doubt what the motion was. I was there and it was very clear. There is no way I believe there was a mistake "in this case".
This must be why many years ago they came up with meeting "minutes".
We should video the meetings ("all meetings") from now on. Have a Live feed to the new website for all members to see.
All this missunderstanding, confusion, missing parts of the minutes, mistakes etc... Sure is convenient for those that voted "against" changing the date.
How long can something like this be dragged out, for how many years I wonder?

happened before.

This exact thing happened before . The members passed a motion to have a Hall of Fame. A committee was formed and Joe Maitland and myself worked out the rules. We took it back to the board and the motion somehow had the words "look into " having a Hall of Fame added .The next board vote went like this." well we looked into it, we don't want it". I never forgot how that motion was effected by those words "look into". Now here we are again years later and the same little words are showing up.
Once again I only want the best for our organization ,I believe in correcting the wording so it reflects the true wording of the motion so we can move forward with this change . Everyone have a great day.

That is exactly why I suggested that our minutes be posted to our new redbone association website for all to see. Out in the open and not behind closed doors.

I was there at the July meeting and the motion was read back to us and voted on and passed simple as that.

Whether you agree or not everyone should be able to agree that due process was followed and have the courage to stand up and follow through with what the association members voted on regardless of personal conflicts.

Good luck with those red dogs and see you at the next hunt!

Jeff Murphy

Posted by Hoosier Outlaw on 03-01-2013 10:37 PM:

A mistake in the wording of the minutes when they were recorded should not void the vote that was taken after the motion was read aloud at the meeting when put to that vote. Mistake or not....we all voted on spoken words that were read aloud....if most of the people who heard those words agree that this vote was for a change and not to "look into" a new date....then what is written in the minutes should be corrected and all minutes should be audio or video recorded from now on. People make mistakes and if this was a mistake...it was made by a single person and that is not at all unheard of....but it should not hold the rest of the voting membership hostage and void all their votes on the motion as it was read aloud to them prior to the vote. Correct the minutes to reflect the original intent of the motion and do not call for another vote on this matter unless a new motion is made to change the date again at the next meeting.

This somehow resembles our goverment at work!

I have been a member of the association since 1981 I think! I used to be very active. Serving on the board as both director & trustee several times. We have always had the same problems as long as I can remember! Shane made a suggestion with some merit! Video or audio mtgs. Always run copies of the minutes before the doors close so they can't alter them. I would love to be active someday, but I have no desire to have adversarial relationships with people that our suppose to want the same thing! The betterment of our breed, & our association.
Personally, if the association does change the date, I think it opens up a large window of opportunity for the American & the National to start working together instead of always being at odds!
Has anyone given any thought to the to the National hunt being able to be moved alot farther East or west across the northern half of the U.S. Because of the date it would not be as hot in Ky, or Tenn. and it would be warm enough in Wis. or Ia. or mo. or anywhere across the northern half! We could use the Southern for the southern half of the U.S. from the Carolina's to Ok. or Tx. That way everyone would get to participate in one or the other in a year. Since the dates will be close together it might make it hard to go to both in the same year! You could make sure that when National's is in the East, that Southern Day's be out west, & vise- versa. That would make it alot fairer to a larger number of our western members!
Just food for thought! I'm glad to see that we have a board with a vision for the future! I would love to see a combined hunt every year with Nat. & Amer.! Sure would be great to all work together towards our common goal!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! John

You are right

It takes more than what you have said to offend me, I have absoulutely no interest in being on the board. I dont see it as stirring the fire or causing trouble or trying to separate anything I think that was already being done well before I ever joined the association. There are some people that have posted on this thread that I care about and just think as long as they been in it they deserve answers. All I have said about what I was told was said by a board member to me directly and I have nothing to hide. I just asked 3 simple questions earlier and they still have not been answered and it just appears to me that what I was told is exactly what is trying to take place, I dont think that is right and these people deserve answers they pay there dues the same as others, you would think that atleast the board members would know what was goin on and they dont, so I would think that any division is being created by someone besides a nobody like me. Its pretty simple seems to me just answer the 3 questions and then it will be clear what the intentions are. I will keep my mouth shut from here on about this and its not up to me to prevent any further division, I just telling what is the truth and it looks as though it is falling into place, I have know idea why or what the reasons are but I do hope yall get the answers you are looking for.

Good Luck, no hard feelings to anyone just hope for equal treatment!!!!!!!!!

Chad!their use to be 3 associations the Redbone Hunters &Breeders of america merged with the national and then only 2,But we all need to agree on what is best for the Redbone breed it self the best thing i would like to see is one Redbone association, where we would be a stronger group.I don't know if that will ever happen, but it would be nice for the breed.

First off let me say that every meeting is already recorded, as there is a voice recorder on the desk in the front. I think that Kitty does it so she can ensure that the minutes are accurate......I am not sure if anyone ever notices it.

With that being said, I was not at the meeting last July due to work schedule so I am not sure of the exact wording of the motion that Mr. Hyde made. So, I am not going to take sides. I do know that during the board meeting at Southern Days, which I was at, there was 1 board member in particular that didn't miss a moment to interrupt Kitty as she read the old business minutes that she had wrote it down wrong. He stated that the motion was NOT to "definitely change the date" and that the wording was supposed to read as "looking into available dates with UKC".....
