Put 2 up this evening then called it a night. Dogs had to work for them both when getting the track going but worked it out and burned them up by the end. Long runs frost came in

Treed one with an older dog after a short hot track. Then took a pup out alone and he worked two tracks but couldnt get them figured out. Put 5 feeders out yesterday so hope to get a few hot tracks to help him learn.

Got one Tuesday night. Last night went and dog ran and ran. Finally about 600yd out heard him open up. As I was getting closer he sat down and started chopping. Got about 15 yards from him he shut up and started coming to me. I knew then something was not right. He came to my side and then it about knocked me over. The second time in 2 years I have had him he hit a skink. So that ended my night. Did not see much movement from anything last night.

Went out tonight and it was a nice dark cloudy night. Struck a fair track and treed it after checking a few trees and traveling about a 1/4 mile. Found the coon in the top of a pine tree. Left the coon and called it a night.

anyone goin in the wind?

Wish I had just stayed home tonight! Just one of those nights. .. tree down across trail on way home and no saw. Ran one but ended up in a HUGE couple hundred year old oak den. Da gone skunks every which way I turned tonight. one got scared when I happened on it in a little dip in a field. the dumb little bastard kept running towards me and I had a pup on a lead that saw it in my light and of course he decided he wanted some of that so he kept trying to pull towards it as it was coming to us. Just luck we both didn't get sprayed! Hate those things and this time of year. ...

Went to cumberland state forest. Broke dog hunted over two miles down a creek without even hitting a track...saw three other coonhunters, so they prob holding tight till late Im thinking. Left there and hit a feeder bucket on private land with a pup. He worked the track but never figured the tree. Had to work today at 6am so I called it a night.

Me and Fsa went last night first drop was a den, 2nd drop had to pull the dogs off because we were right beside somebodies driveway and they were comin out to the hard surface rd, 3rd drop treed a skunk. Sounded like a good run dogs treed, we started in to them and topped the ridge and the smell hit us in the face like a brick wall.

Went out last night and it was a little rough. Took my pup and Nite Champion female. Took a long time to hit tracks and when she finally did the tracks were awful. No way the pup was going to do much with them. Treed 3 times and saw two coons. Second tree was slick as a baby's bottom, but she checked it and just couldn't take a track away from it.

las night

We had a decent night i guess. Seemed like tracks were bad for us too though. Treed in a big den first time and caught one on the ground second time. Poor ol dog looks like he's been in a prison fight. Still home by 10:30 . Had alot worse nights. I think coons are movin in daylight a good bit.

Hunted my pup last night. Thought he was on a fox cause it went a ways and made a half circle, but i dont shock unless possitive...especially at a year old. Then he came up treed...took me about half hour cause the walking was tough, but he had the meat.

Posted by dutchhollar on 02-13-2013 10:35 PM:

Not going tonight due to the snow, but went last night and treed 2 and a den tree.

had

A pretty good night las night. Dog never made a sound for bout an hour. Then struck a track in a flat and worked it out pretty quick. Gave his two siren locates and started choppin. Went to him and started gettin leary cause the tree was only bout 6 inches big around. Looked and there it was in the very top of the tree. Ol boys gettin tuned up.!!!

Posted by Jay Bird 76 on 02-17-2013 03:41 PM:

Went last night about 10 with my daughter even though it was a little snow and very cold. Dogs hit a coon pretty quick and flat out rolled for 700 yards before treeing it. Was getting windy and we were getting cold quick so we called it a night on a good tree.

Had two young dogs out that hadnt been out for a while. They took off like a bat out of hell soon as I un snapped them. Hit on something at about 5-600 and dropped into a deep holler. By the time I made it around to get into better hearing for the chase realized it didnt sound right. And sure enough the darn fools im sure sight chasing a deer in the bright snow. Started burning them up with the shocker but nothing was happening! No green light when I hit the button! They ended up taking off onto the next farm and I had to get the truck lost em on gps. Man o man was I hot! By the time I got around to back into gps range they showed treed at .9 from were I had driven up the road. Had to walk in to get them and sure enough they had a big old coon but that sure isnt the way I want them getting to one. Still pissed about the dead battery in transmitter always keep it on belt and forget to charge that part..... didnt forget when I got home last night haha
