Ronnie, I guided Tex on a cast when he won the NC state hunt. Not sure if you are talking about that cast but I brought him back to Greensboro, and like you that is a cast I will never forget. That hound could get treed with a coon as fast as any I've seen. It was like he was the only dog in the wood's.
I have been hunting a grandson of Tex called Crazy along time. Once you see one like that it will get fired up.

I drew Hardtime Rocky when Bill Smith was hunting him in nt.ch. cast 3 time's. I seen Allen Shoe (Southeastern Walker man) offer him $5000 under a tree on one of those cast. He was nice, real nice.

Posted by stanley ailshie on 08-10-2009 08:54 PM:

Chuck , You are right. Alan told me the same thing about Rocky. He said Sons tounge was dragging the ground to stay up. He also said Charlie Butlers Buck Creek Gracie and Russ Bellars Stricker is the best he ever saw go.

Posted by chuck barham on 08-10-2009 10:55 PM:

Never heard of Gracie, was she out off Tex? I drew A man at Southestern one year that had guided Striker the year before when he won walkerday's. He said he run every track that night so fast that the whole cast were saying he was running deer untill he fell treed all 5 time's.

I drew a man named Robbie Stout hunting one of Bellar's dog's at the PKC world hunt afew year's back that was super fast at finding the right tree. Either Hitler or Pyshco can't remeber which one it was.

id say the best i ever drew is nailors southern country rock. he impressed me alot.

Jerry Winn had a male walker dog named Lumber, he was out of Shep, best I have ever seen unsnapped in a nite hunt!He could tree coon like a good squirrel dog trees squirrel,I saw every coon, the leaves were off!He was the reeal deal.

Interesting post, I have lost more cast than I care to admit, but some of them I have enjoyed the most, when it was by a nice dog.

I drew wipeout speck once and he got it done. Hard to argue him with all the hardware he has won over the years.

I have drawn some fair hounds over the years, some you would know, some you will never hear of.

Blaze Bauers Jewel still comes to mind when I think of tough comp dogs. Had a locate like a Jake brake on a semi. You could just hear the brakes come on and know it was over.

Drew her son JR a few times and he looked good.

I remember a 7 month old female out of Lipper that flat smoked everything in the cast one night. Somewhere in KS about 20+ years ago.

A little blue female in Girard KS a couple years ago treed coons nothing else even knew where around. The entire cast called uncle about 1 hour into the hunt........ she was about 6 or 700+ ahead of anything else there.

Ive had the pleasure of hunting with and hunting some good one's for people. Bad Habit could pull a coon from nowhere! Tar Heel Henry was double tuff in his days! And one i wont ever forget was a english dog named Jay that Mike St,ledger from ILL owned. Mike and Ronnie Bone had just won the NKC world with Cracker and i was staying with Mike at the futurity that year hunting a NICE young blue dog, he took me hunting and that English dog treed coon after coon after coon on ole Sport till we said mercy!! That year a Plott dog named Sarge layed many a whoopins to win the PKC futurity!

A Redbone named Storm out of Minnesota. Not once , but twice.
I promise you every time he treed in South GA he had a coon, and he made it look easy and he was to himself everytime We've seen him on 5 trees and he has scored over 1000+ with the 2 nights combined. Hope I never draw him again probably dead by now

There was one of the replies that named a dog that I drew one time, My bitch was over 10 years old and the dog she drew was 5 years old. My female scored +525 in PKC cast and the other dog mentioned never plussed apoint all night. He was the guide as well. Not going to say which one cause I'm not raining on a parade and I know that dog was a good one. I guess it just makes me appreciate mine even more.
