Warrior, my friend, You've been drinking too much of the kool-aid too. Let me spread a little perspective on this. How many hunters do you know? Now compare that to how many usda agent s you know, how many federal dog inspectors, for that matter how many peta members you know.

EVEN IF THE PAWS BILL DID GIVE GOVCO THE RIGHT TO COME IN YOUR BACKYARD (which it actually protects you from them) THEY DON'T HAVE THE NUMBERS TO DO IT. All my life a I've been hearing that the anti's are comeing to get my guns, take my dogs away, shut down the rodeos I was riding at, and taking away my right to pray. I'd sure wish they would so I'd know what one looked like. I've been looking for an anti to whip everywere and I haven't seen one yet. If they ever do get here I'll probably be too old to fight.

A better charity than "Make a Wish"would be "Catch a Dream" (created after the Make a Wish foundation refused to grant wishes that involved hunting).

This foundation fulfills those wishes that the make a wish folks won't.

He's exactly right. If you don't like AKC then fine, don't go but for Heavens sake go ahead and donate to St. Judes.

You can donate to St. Judes any time and you don't have to go through AKC/UKC/PKC or any other KC to do it. How ever you do it, JUST DO IT cause the kids sure need it.

Another good one to donate to is the Shriners hospital system. All you gotta do to donate to them is contact them and they will be glad to have it. Better yet, you can give the donation to any Shriner or Mason in your community and 100% of the money will go to the Shriners Hospital.

NOTHING is more precious than a child, we should all strive to help those less fortunate any chance we get.

Most of the ones complaining and saying they won't hunt in it now since it's AKC, most likely weren't going to donate anything or haven't donated anything anyway!

Ronald McDonald House is a really great place to donate too also.

I have been coon hunting for about 8yrs and have been to the St. Jude for the last 6 and hunted all 12 nights, entered 6 bench show, with dogs that have no bussiness on a bench because it was for St Jude, Cant tell you how much Chicken & Fish I have eaten(not just me also wife and 3 kids). We have spent alot of $ there and have enjoyed every penny. I will be there this year eating chicken and fish but will not be hunting or showing dogs.

I hope some one from the hunt will get on her and read some of these posts.

We saw this post and decided to give a board member a call and find out what was going on.
She has explained it to me like this...
AKC called them and said they'd like to come back, and are going to give St. Jude donation of 10,000.00 a year for 3 years.

This board called UKC and UKC said they could not match that type of donation...so, they decided they couldn't turn down the donation for the hospital..which made sense to me also. This is after all, a hunt for the kids.

You can register your hounds to hunt and show on the bench at the hunt, and just for the 3 days if this is what you want to do. She said she thinks it's free to do this, as it is free to register them with AKC now till Dec. 31st.

We have always tried to donate and help with this hunt, and we will again this time around.

We may not agree with AKC on everything..we breed a couple litters a year and we don't want to be under investigation for any of it, but we also know that this is the big St. Jude hunt of the year, every year, so we will be there to support our local group helping St. Jude.

AKC was the first registry to have this hunt, 2 others before UKC held it. UKC has only held it the last 8 years. I hope others will reconsider and come join us.

Polly

I don't believe it will matter who holds the event, it's purpose in the first place was for charity. If U.K.C. could not match or donate a tab more then, I feel it's just as good to allow A.K.C. to hold the "charity" for the children and families they have helped.

"Great Job" Steve Fielder and A.K.C.!!!

Folks. I don't like the idea of UKC not having it either. But. Not only is this a good cause,(the children) it also helps the sport of Coonhunting. People look at benifits like this as humanitarian acts. Meaning, the more we,as coonhunters do things like this, the more recognition we get from the opposing groups, or general public. The more recognition, (perferably good) we get the more excepted this sport gets. We need more of these type events. Reguardless of who is sponcering them. Not only to help say St Judes, but to help us as well as a group.
Look at Bikers, They use to be the outlaws. People despised them. Now days their doing benifits left and right and the whole darn counrty wants to ride a Harley.
Look at the whole picture..........
