ok since no one wants to talk about the original subject....Why is it When Sheepster responds to a question, even if it is pertaining to the subject at hand, the conversation still gets side-tracked?

you see wayne, when the weather turns just a little cooler around late september, I get in the woods pretty regular. Then the leaves start to fall. I REALLY get in the woods then. You would be amazed how many coons you can tree when you got a dog that KNOWS HOW TO FIND A COON AND LOCATE THE CORRECT TREE AND FINISH A TRACK. And, NO, I have no feeder buckets whatsoever. A couple of my friends are offering to help me pay for the feed and they want us to put some out. I aint gonna do it. They want more good hot tracks to put there dogs on and they are getting tired of walking so far sometimes. I'll take my good nights with my bad nights and just keep it real. Just my opinion.

Sheep I just figured it out- you dont want leaves just like another fella I knew! He had a mutt he used to take to the woods it was a sheperd mix. Anyway he didnt like leaves either he said it made it to hard to find the coon after he spotlighted it with all them leaves. He just had the dog along for company and to make it all legal like. Sheep you know where I am coming from dont you?

dang sheep,i thought you said you didnt have any coon down there.
now which is it?
are your coon thin or can you tree a hundred coon a yr and not even summer hunt?

Posted by sheepster on 11-02-2005 10:06 PM:

ha ha yeah man sure thing, just walk around spotlightin all night. ha ha

Posted by sheepster on 11-02-2005 10:07 PM:

I've owned her 6 years come January. Thin enough to make it interesting but enough to make the dog go hunting and FIND ONE.

Maybe we should come up with a new name for the people who have something against other breeds of dogs....In the human world we call these types of people racists, who have something against the color of anothers skin, perhaps we should call these people breedists? Anyone have anything better?

A little deep there Sheep.... I like most all dogs, the only dogs I don't like are the ones that fight! I would rather have a slick treeing idiot than a fighter.

Perhaps Sheepster you hate the owners rather than the dogs?

I am partial to the redbones though!

lol lol ....................... RELAAAAAAAAAAAXXXXXXXXX I'm kidding guys. I have seen some GREAT WALKER DOGS. However, most of em are sooooooooorrrrrryyyyy. But like Gablefan said, the thing about "MOST" walker dog owners is this, even when the dog is sorry, the owner still claims there great.

That is not what I said or the intent of this thread.

Posted by bond007 on 11-03-2005 12:50 AM:

gablefan,
i have hunted some of all the breeds and like them all. some do things diff than the others. if all i was going to do was pleasure hunt id have a blue. they tend to open with a bawl mouth long drawn out all the way to the tree. they dont get in a hurry doing it. they just do it. there are some very nice blue being hunted in th comp hunts. ones that come to mind are al #1 open event leader in pkc and another in tenn making the top 10. these two are very nice and hard to beat day in and day out. there are good in each breed period.i hunt walkers because they are what works for me. if i could get another breed that hunt to suit me id have it. ive tryed several and just didnt see what i prefer. will still look for another. shear #'s of the breed is the diff i have found.if i found a b/t that did what i want id have it. be it bluetick redtick plott or walker. we all have in our mind what we look for in a coondog. i am happy with what i feed or they wouldn't be here.
just like people who hunt feeder buckets. if he is happy with the dogs that can only hunt feeders so be it. it makes me no diff. i will use buckets to train pups. but they better be able to tree them without them or i wont feed it.

Not all dogs make coondawgs, we all know that. The reason walker dogs dominate the comp. hunts is because the walker breeders all got together and bred their dogs for comp. hunts. They made all the right crosses. And they outnumber other breeds by a large margin. If you are a new, young hunter, would you settle for a breed that might get it done, or one that has proven they can get it done.

Instead of whining about walker dogs success, we as breeders of other than walker dogs, need to study and implanment a similar plan for our breed of dog. In my case that would be blues and B&T's. Every dog has an equal chance. Every dog has good nights and bad nights. We as handlers just have to get constant results from our dogs. If we do our part, the dogs will do theirs.

Sheep

If this is j-tom I am affended for what you said I hunt Walkers you know that , but I have to work hard to get them to do the things they do . I love hunting so much I have hunted dogs that most hunters would say kill. Just to go hunting and be in the woods. I also hunted a three legged dog and came in second on a hunt , no it aint first but we had fun and they talk about that dog still today If this J-tom you know that dog it was Tiny the one I got from Curtis . So walker hunter don't all hunt for money . Still freinds Shane Elrod

However, you know the type I was talking about. I know you seen it yourself. Which one was tiny???? I cant remember. Your friend, sheepster (J-tom)

SHEEP
what makes this so incrediably impressive is that on the other post you state that you honestly dont beleive you have 76 coon in your entire county.

Posted by J. JOHNSON on 11-26-2005 01:21 AM:

SHEEP YOUR ALRIGHT WITH ME BUT YOU DO TRASH DOGS YOU HAVE NEVER HUNTED WITH AND YOU ADMIT YOU DONT COMP HUNT SO QUIT TRASHING THEM AND OTHER BREEDS,
NOW FOR MIKE IF YOU HAVE THE MOST ELECTRIFIENG DOGS HOW MANY TRUCKS HAVE YOU WON? AND WHY DONT WE READ ABOUT YOU IN THE MAGAZINES.
I BELIEVE THERE IS GOOD AND BAD IN ALL BREEDS SO JUST SHUT UP AND GO HUNTING.
I HUNT WALKERS NORMALLY BUT I HUNTED AN ENGLISH GYP IN SUPER STAKES LAST YEAR IF THERE GOOD AND HONEST I WILL HUNT THEM I DONT CARE WHAT COLOR THEY ARE
