Yeah he did too, he is a pup out of Moose, 8-9 Months old that I'm hunting for a buddy. He started that bear over his dad too, turned em both down off the strike to see what he could do and he went straight to hunting and the bear wasn't too far and I could hear them both bayed up, he never quit and still hated those bears just as much, can't ask for much more than that! He went from seeing 0 bears to 9 bears in one weekend.

sure wish we had that many bear in our area, it would sure be fun! were we run in michigan there is alotta jack pines and flat land, Might find and tree three bear in one day or not find one all weekend or sometimes every 2 or 3 weekends go without a chase, worst part about it is were definitly! not lackin the dog power, just the bear numbers, they keep getting lower every year, the dnr finally cut back on the number of tags givin out this year so it should get better in the next few years, your hounds look like there doing a great job, keep up the good work!

Posted by BuckNAze on 05-17-2012 12:13 AM:

Yeah it just depends here, sometimes I find one bear, I've also not found any but usually I can hunt for a good 8 hours and find 3 bears or so. Only one the dogs haven't treed was on a split race, dog might of caught it but I'm not sure. I think I'm about as wore out as the dogs by the time I'm done hunting 3-4 days straight. 9 bear trees this last weekend, that's probably the most for me. Trying to beat 118 bear trees last year but with a new baby girl on the way any day I doubt I'll reach that #. I'm just having fun training dogs and seeing some bears in the air. Sorry to hear about your bear #'s going down to overharvesting. Here we just tree em and leave em, rare if we shoot one. Glad the DNR is cutting the # of tags for you guys, I know you're probably not the one doing the killing, you're probably like me and just enjoy seeing the hounds work and love being out in the woods. Hopefully with the # of tags down your bear population rebounds a little so you guys can have some more fun!

ya i honeslty enjoy training season way more than kill season, the thrill to me is just the hunt and hearing the dogs run. our trainign season starts july 8th so its gonna be a little time yet before i can have some fun, we only treed 32 bear this past year but that pretty good for our area, it just gets so hot in the training season, its tough trying to cold trail/run a bear when its almost 90 degrees by 9 or 10 oclock in the morninn in jackpine/flatland area, we sometimes gota cold trail a few miles before the dogs can get into a swamp or a decent area where they can get scent, it usually just depends on how long its ben since its rained and sometimes that can be a while, but im sure you know how that goes! then most of the time we usually jump the fast little tennis shoe bears that will run all day on the flat land and not tree, but usually towards the end of training season those little bastards usually start treein cuz the dogs are in pretty **** good shape by then, but im gonna be startin college soon and im gonna git a decent career under my feet so i can move to an area where i can hunt close to home and hopefully just not on the weekends, and yea the bear numbers will go up soon, its really just certain areas that its down, but in most parts of the U.P. its not to bad, but just alota overkill happened where we spend our training season in the lower peninsula

You want soma Hisstory? My story is I was in puppy love with a Beautiful girl in high school. I sat behind her in study hall. I'd rub my pencil on the nap of her neck in study hall in 5th period what felt so good to me by a Red Headed Irish girl would do to me in Home Room first thing in the morning. This one was 5 foot 8 and some kind of beautiful. She finally got tired of my advances and turned around and said, "Quit it Fool" but she said it in such a nice way. Directly she was into Dragstrip cars and all kinds of BS I could care less about but I was coon Hunting all the time. She got into HSUS kind of Freaky stuff as well. Always been freaky some. She got her a bear cub, eventually, and the dam thing grew up and got mean and she caught all kinds of Hell from the HSUS. Even went to Jail for it. It taught her a dam good lesson about HSUS unless you are a Monied individual is what I ascertained. Guess what? , the next thing you know the dam thing had plain excaped. LOL At that time we had no Armadillos, Coyotes, few Eagles , No Swallow tailed Kites, no Red Cockaided wood peckers . no Wood storks, And people say No Black Panthers , But I know they are lying because I have seen one about every fifteen years . But that bear got loose somehow and now people are saying we got Black bears as well down here in the southern Coastal Plains Of SC . We have had a few for awhile up in the northern coastal plains next to North Carolina.. I hope we get enough to sic the dogs after one day. They don't even mess with trashcans yet, we got so few. Me and that old girl are friends but we give each other wide berth. She is dang near 60 and still half crazy for all I can gather.
