-- Babbling Idiots Need Scratched!! (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=466854)
Rip's posts make perfect sense to me.
I will add that It has gotten to the point where most coonhunters have no idea what an honest strike dog sounds like anymore....As long as they keep their head ratteling they must be tracking.

No offence but it sounds like you two don't know what babblers are. If your not willing to withdraw to prove they are babbleing you don't want it to much.
Put a dog that leaves babbleing in a cast with me and see if it doesn't get scratched. Now if you take that minute away I will quit shocking mine if it does it as a pup.
I will strike any dog I have off the collar and bet the hunt entry the 8 doesn't get them. I don't care what the rule says. I will train dogs to win by the rules. Takeing the minute away just makes it easier. All you have to do is find a good hight drive dog and teach it not to run in a straight line when you cut it. Most of them are open mouth dogs unless it is discuraged from puppy hood and if it hunts as it goes it is more lickly to find a closer track. That means lets go to my tree first boys. Then let me cut mine to yours.

lmao Some of you are the biggest hypocrits when it fits your position. Comp dogs and comp hunters are so superior to the rest of us low life pleasure hunters. lmao

If you would breed for a coon dog and not to all of these paper tigers so you can get a super tiger paper on your pup you would get rid of these comp. breed up idiots were someone was looking to make a buck you need to keep score During the season and threw the week not how many points you scored at the hunt on feeder buckets which is were most of these comp. dogs make it any more.
90% of them are face barkers or mean or a babbling idiot and independent and no longer work with other hounds and could not tree a coon that that they had to grub it up. Me I am breeding to a coon dog titles are nice especially when earned and handled and feeder bucket titles they needs to be a new title feeder bucket slick handler and babbler Grand Night Champion and another Gator Grand Nite Champion more coon hunters could enjoy the hunts if you seperate out to these classes

I certainly know what a babbler is. I have owned and hunted some of the best at it. I know how I like to see a hound perform. For those that don't like babbling, that is fine. However, don't ever think that a hound that babbles can't be a track driving coon treeing machine. A top hound that babbles is tough to beat. I don't like a babbler and don't have any at the present and hate to draw one in a hunt. Can't remember drawing out with a real gator in many hunts. I have never waisted one kernal of corn on feeding coon. Can certainly understand why many do use feeder buckets. One thing is for certain, the KC's don't twist your arm to bring ol super cooner to town.

I have a 4 month old walker who I have let tree a drag and a caged coon and she opened on track on both. I was all excited until i let her out yesterday with her sister and she was running around in the yard like she was trailing. I called her over to me and started petting her she rolled over on her back and started barking while I was petting her. It looks like she may be what yall are calling a babbling idiot. I wasn't going to keep her but after reading all these post on how the dogs that babble win so many hunts I have decided to keep her and win some hunts with her. Shoot maybe I can hunt her over some feeders and grand her out and sell her for a couple thousand. If it works as planned and with her having such an advantage over other dogs maybe she will be the next world champ. Maybe I can breed her to my silent male walker and get some good pups.

Grady, Grady, Grady....... A lot might be learned by simply "considering" the opinions and comments made by experienced veterans.(opposed to quickly discrediting??) Pretty sure guys like Rip and Josh have a fairly good grasp on what a babbler is. And, both of them would probably be asking for a vote immediately following your ruling to scratch a babbler.
Just sayin' bud.

By the way Allen, I have been sudying, training and teaching at dog training seminars for almost 40 years now myself. The one thing I have learned for sure is I am still wrong sometimes. I have learned from some of the best trainers in the country and some from people just getting in the trade that came up with something new. I try to respect everyone that gives it. The young and old.

Grady, what rule are you applying to scratch the dog for babbling? When you go by the book, the MOH will overturn that majority of cast vote every time. Oops - huh? lol.
Just pickin' on ya a bit.

There is a big differance in opinions of what a babbler is too. No matter how long you have hunted coon with hounds.

Any dog striking under a minute goes in for 50. If they are babbling minus them under the current rule. If we cant tell or its a 2-2 vote, put them in for 50. If dogs are striking before the minute is up they are not working very hard to find a track.

I probably shouldn't throw everyone from Michigan in there, that was wrong. But the last straw for me when I was there..... I was hunting a young dog that came treed and a minute or two went by and was backed by another. I could tell that he was treeing funny and as we went in to the tree, he wasn't there. BTW, leaves were on. I told the judge to minus me and after I got those words out of my mouth, the leaves above us started to shake and down came my dog and coon. It was a tree that was easily climbable by man or beast so when he fell, he fell about 20 ft from the base. Thats when the scratch talk started. My youngster was clearly discombobulated so I withdrew and walked him back to the truck and never entered another hunt in Michigan. It wasn't worth having to deal with those kinds of shenanigans. The funny part is, the guy that started bumping his gums about it is a regular kinda on this board and would have people believe he is the golden saint to the coonhound world. Whenever I see wins by him, I always think of that hunt and wonder how he pulled his current win off.

Nope that one just doesn't make any since. Mine will have a track in less than a minute a lot of the time in pleasure or comp. and she doesn't do it laying around my feet.
L.Lyle, that would work here. If you don't dump on a creek you have to dump in crop land of some kind. LOL
