One more thing that no one will know till they start haveing these is how many guides you will need. These fun hunters have been hunting some were. Who is to say they can't guide to some of the ground they have been hunting.

That's right. I have several friends and relatives who own 200 to three hundred acres. I try to talk them into hunting with me because I do alot of hunting by myself. Two main things for me, I hunt there when gators are bad where i hunt the most and they allow deer hunting and they allow me coon hunting but the deer hunters do not have total run of the place. These small places are great coon hunting for me but I would never consider guiding a cast to one because they would blow through that and be gone. Also these fellows don't have a coondog but they have been with me often enough to know what coondogs do and could easily put the check marks in the boxes because the rules are so simple. If a club membership is a requirement to judge HTX then clubs might have to to consider a few "gratis" memberships for that purpose.

Well we sure wont know till we try. Our Stillwater club is going to try one and I plan on helping in any way I can. Like you guys I have high hopes. The only thing I see as a problem is getting the word to the pleasure hunters. I think when they get the word they will come though.

HERE'S MY $.02 WORTH.

THE PEOPLE THAT ARE GOING TO NITE HUNT ARE GOING TO NITE HUNT.

THE PEOPLE THAT COME TO SUPPORT THE CLUB THEN GO PLEASURE HUNTING ARE GOING TO DO JUST THAT.

NOW WITH OUR CLUB, IT'S GETTING HARDER FOR US TO GET THEM TO LET US SCHEDULE THEM ON OUR MEETING NIGHTS LIKE WE USED TO.

BUT IF THE OPPORTUNITY WAS THERE TO HAVE THEM IF SOMEONE WANTED TO, THEN HOW COULD THAT BE NEGATIVE?

YOU'D BE HELPING THE CLUB MAKE MONEY.
YOU'D BE HELPING UKC MAKE MONEY.
YOU'D BE DOING SOMETHING YOU ENJOY.
YOUR DOG COULD EARN A DEGREE IT MIGHT NOT OTHERWISE GET THE CHANCE TO EARN.

HOW COULD THIS BE BAD?

TODD, GIVE THE CLUBS THE OPTIONS TO HOLD THE HTX ON NITE HUNT NIGHTS, AND LET THE CLUBS WORK IT OUT.

IT WONT TAKE BUT ONCE OR TWICE TO SEE IF IT'S GOING TO WORK, BUT IF THEY DONT HAVE THE CHANCE TO DO IT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW.

Your right Christy. The key word is choice here. It will work for some and not for others BUT WHAT DOES THAT HURT.

I killed 8 coons tonight. It was the first time any of them had been out of the pen hunting since March. I had two good races and killed 3 coons out of the two races . The rest of the trees were because I took one trained dog which is my Layup artist. One tree , one coon . Another tree I could not find. Another,That I might could have said Strike and Tree Friendly because he did not come on it with his usual triple OW Ow ow, then Uh Uh Uh about 90 barks a minute. He might not have passed , I do not know. I know I started at dusk and was loaded up headed home at 10:30 with 8 coons. No trash , treed till I got there then shut up and I watched him to see where to shine where he was looking.
By the way, He is just a layup artist, every non track layup tonight as within 100 yards of the truck. The chases were about ten minuites to fifteen minuite, SHORT, in general but he was open all the way as needed. Not too much and not too little.

HTX

Looking forward to hunting with you over our Christmas visit to Edisto. Do you hunt the marsh or on the hill more? Sounds like your dog would title out in HTX format easily

Only been three times with three different trained dogs. I won't take all the the trained ones incase the gators are back out. I think he would have passed HTX on that one because he got on a running track on the third one but he would have had two faults alredy for the layups. And, not sure, but he might have got the third layup before the hour was up and that would put him out.
Been treeing too many on the hill before they ever get to the marsh so far.

Treeing a lay-up is not considered a fault. It just simply does not count towards the requirement of open trailing.

Thanks I see it now. Under the standard requirements I would put check marks in the boxes he did and x in the opened on track box when he did not. I think that is why I would have thought it was a fault. I see now that there is a second series of boxes for standard Faults.
A dog should open on at least one track in the hour and finish that track with a coon seen to get a pass. Not open on a track and loose or quit it and go tree a layup somewhere else.

Correct.

Did anyone ever make a decission on this or does it have to wait till the end of the year and be voted on?
