Why does a dog that goes the "wrong" way also getting away from barking, babbling idiots? I think that is more perception and attitide an owner has about how his dog hunts than fact. "My dog does right and everybody elses is wrong" attitude. Is there never decent dogs in the cast that strike close and put a coon on the end?

I don't want one that leaves when it gets backed. You WILL NOT break that. I don't care who you are.

I've broke 3 that was independent and jealous that would leave when backed. All 3 made better than the average hound. You can break a dog of any bad habit.

The very Best coon hunt I was ever on was a competition hunt, but saying that, the very Worst hunt I ever had was a competition hunt, so Im no stranger to the Hunts.
If you Comp. hunt on Saturday, that leaves 6 more days of the week for pleasure hunting. If you miss 2 hunts a month due to work, that leaves 28 something days to pleasure hunt. Now Im not a Scholar or nothing but thats a lot of time in the woods for you and your Competitive self to have a good time. Me, I had rather have good company and, I guess, a me too dog.

Deer chasing is a good example. The first time a dog does it don't pretend you don't know what he is doing is the main thing. I get my hands on him. He gets hunted by himself. If he ever does it again he is kind of dumb. When I get my hands on him again he is stupid if he ever chases the third one I don't worry about running him down. He goes in somebody"s deer pack. A dog like that will ruin every dog you have. People that only have one dog or don't hunt with friends seem to be more tolerant of it.
i now know who the experienced hunters are on here.
