Has nothing to do on how I feel about coonhunting, It's all about the secure feeling I have why there wearing them . I know I have done all I can do to protect dog or child.

i have to laugh, i raised a teenager that loved to go mudbogging with the women. i payed for his phone and his truck, he dumped the phone in the mud and the truck also(burned up a tranny i just payed 2300.00 for) and refused to answer, and he paid when he got home. like i said before, a dog is easier to raise than a child. for sure.
same thing would happen if i had a dog without a garmin, when they walked in all limp looking, ears back, i did bad look, shi%%% would hit the fan.
i know a garmin would be easier, but we are not able to afford one now. too busy paying for a vehicle i dont need and another transmission thanks to my loving dear child.
i previously said how my friend used one on my skeet. i loved it.
it just makes me more nervous now that i dont have one again. there is nothing i can do about it but save my money and hope for the best, but i do have to say, the adrenalin sure is a pumpin as soon as you turn the dog off the leash til you get him back in the truck without one.

I wouldn't hunt without some kind of tracking system, a nite light and a compass.

If I see mine headed toward the highway on my garmin I call them back to me. I guess if you are dumb enough to just watch them get ran over your dogs and your kids are in danger.

I ALWAYS have the Gramin on mine. Noway Nohow will i turn them loose without it.

Just because you have the Garmin doesn't mean you have to watch the screen.

IF cuttin the dog listening to it strike run and tree is BORING you neecd to get out of the sport because your not doing it because you love it.

I have owned a Garmin for 3 seasons. I LOVE IT! When I first got the unit I looked at it alot. I was always wondering what the dog was doing and where he was headed. Now I don't so much worry about what he is doing just where he is going and where I am. You can also tell if the dog is running the deer. The speed is a tell tale.

I started hunting the dog without a Garmin and all I had for a light is a 2D Maglite. I purchased a 4D maglite and was amazed at how much a brighter light made things easier. Honest to goodness I think you can get away with using only a 4D mag for a lite. No need for the hi voltage super fancy stuff. A Garmin on the other hand is worth the dogs weight in gold.

I finally purchased a Laser Torch light from Bayou Lights. I wanted something just as bright as a 4D that was rechargable. The Laser Torch is 165 with shipping and I get along just great.

This is so true... I leave mine sittin in the truck on the dash turned on so I'll have a idea where the dog has went if hes not opening.

To me, a Garmin helps me know so much more about my dog, both good and bad. The Garmin will tell you that dog you thought was out there hunting the woods out hasn't gotten more than 75 yards away, hiking his leg on every tree in the woods.

I think I had better dogs before Garmin came along telling on them!!!! LOL, LOL!!!!! I guess it is just me

Technology

That's what it is all about. People don't use carbide lights anymore why, because there is a better way. People don't find there way to the wagon with stars anymore why , because there is a better way. A garmin is not trust worthy on tracking and treeing. They will show treed and the dog has not said a word. I use a compass just to know I still can. I use a bright light to see the snakes. I use a Garmin to cut the hardheaded dogs off and I did carry a Busnell Backtrack till it broke. I would not turn a dog loose without some sort of tracking system. Its not to check my training. I don't know how you could check your training this way. Its to catch my dogs when they get out of pocket.

Why would anyone take the chance would be my question to you?

so your kids where a garmin?

My kids didn't need a garmin. They didn't make them back then but my kids didn't get out of my sight when there was a busy street close enough for them to get to in it. They were allso tought of leash commands unlike the kids of today. I could call them back too if I needed to.
I didn't need a shock collar for the kids either. I used a belt and it worked pretty well. I have had a lot of people ask me if I could make there kids mind as well as my dogs do. I just tell them " if you will let me use the same methods".
