-- Cloning a legend (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=407816)
Guys shouldnt we be thinking of ways to better our breeds rather than clone the old ones???

Adam's Rip and Hard Creek Hobo were as good as i ever hunted with so i'd get a clone of one of them. Rip reproduced pretty good also. I say if i wanted to do alot of winning Pac Man would be the one. Dont think a dog ever won more than he did.

Well here I go again this being confused. I didn't realize I had jumped on or off a wagon AND I didn't realize I had called anyone out. Pure and simple you made a statement. I was only trying to understand that comment. The way I understood the comment it is inaccurate so I was just trying to understand what exactly you meant by it, maybe it simply was presented in a different way then you meant..
Merchant's Banjo II placed 7th and 4th in the ACHA World Championship and then in 1967 got his best finish of 2nd Place.
Merchant's Banjo II placed in the Top 7 in 3 out of 4 ACHA World Championships entered in.
In 1961 when Stan's Sailor Boy won the World Hunt, Johnson's Banjo came in 2nd Place. Banjo was the father of Banjo II. I would have to check but I don't believe Banjo II was born until 1962.

Cloning is an option.....look up Clayton, he is a clone to Charmayne James's great barrel horse, Scamper. Scamper is a gelding so they cloned him for reproduction reasons.
Its just up to the registrys if they will recgonize cloning or not. Currently AQHA (horse registration association) will not, so although you can breed to Clayton and have the genetics of one of the great barrel horses, you still have an unregistered horse.
I am really surprised that there hasn't been any cloning in the coon hunting world. Just not enough $ in it I guess.

Dude, he was a fox hound and the chances of our coon dogs being descendants of him are very slim. Have you ever seen a pic of him he had about as much hound in him as my wife's cur dog. He was black and tan in color, not a black and tan.
My Pick
I would Hunt with Pace's Possum . I Legend to Me in My Mind and Heart. Stolen in 2000 By a Low Life . Never gonna Know the Low Lifes Name but He sure Stole one of the Best. A Finley River Dog that Ran Hard Hunted Hard and Treed Harder than Most Have out there Now and proud to say My Buddy
GRNTCH Moffett's W.C. Deamon. Won bout every hunt he was put in the 2 years RUSS BELLAR pushed him in the hunts. Also won the last PCA world and the first PKC world in back to back years. He placed in the top 20 of the UKC world a few times. From everyone ive talked to thats hunted with him says he was the Best coon dog they ever walked behing
