Not all together true. When I get one that will run in and tree a coon every time I cut it I think it is time to sell it. It gets boreing and to much like work. I like to watch a dog progress and help it along. It is like trouble shooting. Trying to figure out what will make it click in a pups mind and listening to it work a track trying to figure out how to find the end of it. Once it knows enough to get fast at what it does and goes deep if it has to then the only fun is at the comp hunt to hear a race between other good dogs.
These days you don't get to hear that becouse every one wants there dogs to go differant directions incase they don't have the fastest track and tree dog. It is safer and easier to call if they just go get there own........Of course if they do get on the same track and mine is faster than yours. I am going to call yours a me too dog becouse it lost the race to the tree.

I'm not talking about a dog that will tree " A " coon when you go.
Alot of dogs will tree " one " if given enough time.
That's not what I call a coondog.

Heck , most people probably have never seen what I call a coondog.
I even bought one ONCE for $500.
Sure , you can buy a dog that will tree a coon once in awhile for $500 , but that ain't what I call a coondog.
I'm talking about a dog that you can take out and EXPECT it to tree every track it starts. And EXPECT to see the coon every time it trees.
Sometimes they can't , but that's not what you EXPECT.
With a coondog , HOPE is never part of the equation.
Have you got one of those for $500?

You are right, most probably have never seen that. And, if they haven't seen it and experienced it on a night after night, year after year basis, they have NO CLUE what you are actually saying (though you said it very well)!
