People I am going to give the one biggest piece of advice you can get when thinking about who you plan to use for freezing,DO NOT FREEZE IN STRAWS. If the person that is going to do your freezing doesn't freeze in pellets,find another facility.

pellet is better , we have both. and have straws . nothing wrong with straws. just get the right vet to do it.we had 5 pups off of 14 year old semen. we use Deans in IN.he draws in pellet form.we also have some iny MO at Mark Smiths

Take your dog there to have it drawn. He will ship to your vet when ready to breed, there is a time frame on how long you got to induce it in your female. Get with a good vet.

Kristen @ Block Sporthounds did a good job for me. She did the A.I. on a sat. night about 9 pm cause she thought it was the right time. My female is having pups right now.

I was surprised to find out what it cost to have frozen semen shipped. Collection and storage isn't too bad but the owner of a female can really have a lot of money invested into a breeding. What a typical shipment cost some of you guys have paid?

Travis it's the weight of the tank. #30 and charging the tank with liquid nitrogen. Call 1-800-GOFEDEX for a quote from zipcode to zipcode and 30# for weight. That will give you a rough estimate. Also overnight vs 2 day.

$50 to a $100 .it cost us $50 to ship chill semen.

I was told by a reputable clinic that it cost around 300, I thought that was a little much.

Travis it really depends on weight and how far it's going and how fast you need to get it there. Some places charge for paperwork. I don't, but some do. Chilled semen can be in a box that weighs under 5#. Frozen semen always needs to be sent via a liquid nitrogen vapor shipper which is about 30#.
