-- Hound Hunters Take Notice (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=329472)
Email sent! Its way to long to post here but I will be sure to let everyone know what the response is.....It was actually a nice email, and thats not easy for me
Ok, I have now gone back and forth with her a few times now. She was rather defensive right off the bat? (what the hell have people been sending her?) I really sent her a very very nice email. Nothing combative. I was just pointing out that it was unfair and unresponsible to publicize false information about us as a group. She/hsus should have been discussing the truth.....Its a minority of bad seeds out there that allow for this fire. She tried to use rediculous #s to plead her case. Its really just poor marketing.. Here is an example she gave to me.
" Many shelters report that 50 percent of the hunting dogs they take in are heartworm positive. This condition is easy and cheap to prevent, but can cost up to $1,200 per dog to treat, requiring the dogs to be isolated for months, and sometimes requiring surgery to remove the worms from the heart, all at taxpayers’ expense. Many shelters report that as much as 90 percent of the dogs they take in are unwanted or abandoned hunting dogs."
Here is what I said.....
"To go by whats reported at shelters hardly constitutes the term MAJORITY! Does that mean that in the city shelters %90 of the animals are pitbulls? and also %50 of them suffer the same lack of vet care? That makes sense since you are talking about the most popular types of animals for each of the part of the country. These are the #s that are misleading and part of the whole marketing ploy. Again 1% is still not acceptable, but dont pigeon hole a whole group because of a small majority. The amount of animals in a shelter only constitute about 1% of the hound population to begin with. Therefore the true #s should read.....Of the 1% of the hounds in the country that are in shelters %50 of them lack vet care... Some of them could have been dogs that got lost (happens to any pet) and some were turned in because the economy got so bad (from foolish government spending into witch hunt fanatical false foundations like hsus) that people could not even afford there hound!!!The information presented by HSUS is extremely flawed and biased. In most situations this would be slander!
She then responded to this by saying thank you for letting us know your thoughts on the matter!
Still no response
I have still not heard back from vice mail and I was nice to the lady....

here is her response to me
In no way did I state in the video, nor does The HSUS state anywhere on its website, that all hound hunters treat their dogs in such a matter. Instead, we make a point to say that many hound hunters do, which is true, not that they all do. It is a sad fact that many hound hunters abuse their dogs in sickening ways. Many do not feed their dogs for long periods of time because they mistakenly believe that hungry dogs will hunt better. Even hound hunters have contacted me, urging us to do something about how many hound hunters threat their dogs. They have explained in vivid detail and sent images of hunting dogs who receive little to no food or water, whose water is consistently green, and whose kennels are so entirely filled with excrement that they must stand on cinder blocks to avoid standing or lying in the filth. Other hunters have contacted us, explaining how many hound hunters fail to treat injuries to their dogs, even broken bones. Hunting dogs consistently show up at rural shelters across the country, particularly in southeastern states, emaciated and rife with ailments such as fleas, ticks, heartworm, mange and cancer. Many shelters report that 50 percent of the hunting dogs they take in are heartworm positive. This condition is easy and cheap to prevent, but can cost up to $1,200 per dog to treat, requiring the dogs to be isolated for months, and sometimes requiring surgery to remove the worms from the heart, all at taxpayers’ expense. Many shelters report that as much as 90 percent of the dogs they take in are unwanted or abandoned hunting dogs. Many hunters simply abandon their dogs or dump them at local shelters when they fail to hunt well or become too old to keep up with the chase. It is sad that many hound hunters choose to burden taxpayers in such a manner and choose to treat their dogs as nothing more than disposable hunting equipment. It is also unfortunate that many other hunters rush to the defense of these hunters and this deplorable treatment of animals.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,

Yeah she reads this!!!! They dont care about what you say or how you say it.... Bottom line is our point of view will not make them any $. Without $ they dont exist! Therefore they are not going to change what they say or do even if it is false.... Do the math, how do her #s equal a majority....they barely = a %!!! Dont get me wrong I dont think there should be a % of neglect. Its not fair to the dog, they didnt do anything to anyone and people will allways look for a house pet. Fighting this fight against them is useless. We need to band together and do our own PR for the sport and show everyone else on our own. If people only get to hear one side then its the only side there gonna take! I tried to be nice, it didnt work or matter..... I once had a little more respect for hsus as a whole because I thought they were a little better then PETA etc.... Shame on me!!! There is just no discussing with these people...its all marketing to make $. They dont care about animals. They are no different then any company selling something! I am not saying people should not email her, just dont expect any understanding, or expect her to changer her view....thats not gonna get her a pay check next week. They dont care!!!!

Well according to her we are neither a an expert on the matter nor are we well informed of the sport most have us have grown up doing, supported and care dearly about. But they saw a shelter in Va. so they know absolutely everything? Whatever gets some poor uneducated volvo driving yuppie to donate some $ so the ceo can drive a nicer volvo and have a plush office and give nothing to the said shelter! I am so pissed!! Everytime I try and give the benefit of the doubt.....I get bit in the ass! I have always been in support of a hunting season for PETA members.....Guess who should get added to that list?
im gonna light a fire under this matter i have a cousin who is a radio dj he said hed be happy to make a statement about it but i got to think of how to write it so it doesnt hurt us and makes them look like idiots
so far im thinking "in recent the HSUS has made a claim that hunting dogs are mistreated by most of all owners and are and i quote "just another hunting tool" i would like everyone to consider that they are basing there facts off less than 1% of dog hunters and then the portray that 50 % of all the hounds that are taken in by the shelters have heartworm and 90% are mistreated and just left because there sick or cant hunt no more now all this is based upon 1 shelter in va now how does this 1% of dogs make most owners cruel and mean people now i think the truth of the HSUS should be known i would like everyone to look up all the facts of the hsus and know they do not own or operate one shelter and less than 4% of all the money they bring in goes to shelters to help the animals it was intended for they are simply an animal activist group who uses helpless animals for profit please visit website ........... (the site that lists all that info on here) and know when you donate to the hsus you dont help an animal you make a bigger check for the ceo please donate to the actual rescues and organizations that need it.
and i will get all numbers correct before i go through with it

You wanna help an animal???? buy a hunting or fishing license, any gear for hunting, ammo, etc..... A % of all things we buy for this goes to wildlife management etc... I am pretty UKC, and AKC dontate to adoption/shelters....hmmm where would they get money from? Oh yeah.....US!
Did anyone get the email about 11 million constituents thats one in every 29 americans that are members of HSUS per Megan. Theve banned chickens and pits we knew this would be next on their agenda. I think we need to let people know whats after hounds it will be fishing, rodeos, circuses, seeing eye dogs, horseback riding, commercial fishing and farming.
Keep up the good work guys. But be polite. Her last few e-mails to me called me a liar. I guess maybe I am. LOL.

i see one impotant thing that needs attention both hsus and peta contend that we use trackers and gps units so we can sit back and not have to follow our hoiunds every one of us know we use trackers and gps units to keep our hounds safe and out of harms way hsus has already made progress in california in making tree switches and gps units illegal through there improper information on trackers

I have been waging my own personal war with the HSUS by mass emailing the TRUTH about their agenda and I got the "KIND NEWS", a HSUS publication, thrown out of my kids public school system.
Make no mistake about it, they want to stop all hunting, period. That ARE NOT ANY BETTER THAN PETA, THE ANIMAL LIBERATION FRONT, THE FUND FOR ANIMALS OR ANY OTHER AR ORGANIZATION.
A FEW HSUS FACTS:
The HSUS is not affiliated with your local humane society or any other around the country. The name "Humane Society" is for luring in unknowing people to give them money through their emotional adds showing a few abused animals.
The HSUS admittedly does not operate ANY spay, neuter or animal shelters anywhere.
The HSUS is the wealthiest animal rights group in the world with over $10 million a year donated to them that is used primarily to fund their lobbyists who's agenda ranges from stopping hunting to eliminating ownership of all pets. It's true.
The HSUS spent $1 million to stop dove hunting in Michigan and it worked.
HSUS President Wayne Pacelle said his goal was to make the HSUS the National Rifle Association of the animal rights movement.
HSUS Campaign Manager John Goodwin is a convicted DOMESTIC TERRORIST from his days with the Animal Liberation Front. He started a fire that caused $1 million in damages and threatened the life of the family living on the farm.
A money trail suggests that the HSUS gave money to John Goodwin's father to help pay his lawyer fees.
Here's an excerpt from an article on the HSUS:
Despite the words “humane society” on its letterhead, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is not affiliated with your local animal shelter. Despite the omnipresent dogs and cats in its fundraising materials, it’s not an organization that runs spay/neuter programs or takes in stray, neglected, and abused pets. And despite the common image of animal protection agencies as cash-strapped organizations dedicated to animal welfare, HSUS has become the wealthiest animal rights organization on earth.
HSUS is big, rich, and powerful, a “humane society” in name only. And while most local animal shelters are under-funded and unsung, HSUS has accumulated $113 million in assets and built a recognizable brand by capitalizing on the confusion its very name provokes. This misdirection results in an irony of which most animal lovers are unaware: HSUS raises enough money to finance animal shelters in every single state, with money to spare, yet it doesn’t operate a single one anywhere.
Make no mistake about it, the HSUS is the enemy of the people. If you give money to them please stop. If you know people who give money to the HSUS email this youtube video to them and ask them to forward it to every person they know. It's a very powerful video showing how the HSUS went to New Orleans after Katrina and after the cameras were off skipped town and left the work to small shelters. THIS VIDEO WAS MADE BY OTHER ANIMAL RIGHTS PEOPLE!!! Even they hate them.

Did you notice Megan Sewell's title? Deputy Manager, Wildlife Abuse Campaign. Let me repeat that... WILDLIFE ABUSE CAMPAIGN. What does that have to do with hounds? I'll tell you, she's in charge of the anti-hunting arm of the HSUS.
People... if you're not as passionate about keeping our sport as they are about taking it away your going to lose. Plain and simple. That means fighting them at every turn with information warfare. The only way to shut them down is to cut off their money. If you see a HSUS add on TV write an email to the network asking them to not sell advertising to the HSUS because they are connected to domestic terrorists. Send emails with the links above to everyone you know. Do your research and fight back.
Finally a note to Megan Sewell since she monitors this:
I know your real agenda. I am out to ruin the HSUS and I will do everything I can to expose how your whole organization is based on lies and deceit. I know for a fact that I have stopped thousands of dollars that was to be donated to the HSUS. If I can get 1 million people to spread the word and they only stop ten dollars each you're done. There's 1 million hunters in Michigan alone. Game on.

In my first email to her I explained just that about the tracking...... Keep em away from roads, residential areas, and to make sure we can bring our buddys back home with us. Dont bother telling her...SHE DOESNT CARE and THEY DONT CARE. Thats not going to help there agenda to tell the TRUTH!
Reply from megan sewell
This is the reply I got from megan sewell after I informed her how well most hound hunters take care of their hounds and how wrong she is about many other things about our sport.
