THATS the difference in the country and the city. FYI in the shouth any hollar is called a hollar. Ravine is nothing more than a statement made by a yankee Across the Mason Dixion line...

I watch the Memphis news everynight I'm not hunting. There is not more depressing news in the world! It's as bad (gangs, rapes, drugs, murders, rapes, violence, etc...) there as anywhere in the world! I'm glad I live between a ditch and a bottom!

This sport is getting ahead of itself here!!! we have all these gadgets to tell what your dog is doing and what not but still nobody can come up with a boot and chap that is anywhere close to wicks!!! but i guess that is why they are working on the 40 collar, see if it's slick or junk and you don't have to walk...save on boots that way...LOL...but if it's a coon well pull up the ole torn and patched up boots and get walking....

Coonhunting has changed a bunch and will continue to change , if it don't die out someday. There is no stoping technology. I even hate guys talking on cell phones all night long in the woods too , but that the way the world is today.

In the mean time , I strap on my 21 volt light and Garmin and quad cab truck and hit the woods. I'm as guilty as the next guy.

I remember the 2 cell also... back then though we had WOODS here instead of miles & miles of cutover & new growth pines. One guy had a wheat lite to shine the tree, but the GOOD LORD knows it was a heap of fun..
All the trees are now on the crik r creek....
Also remember when we possum hunted to catch them for local church... They had a possum supper back then.. Caught um, but NEVER eat one to date.... TIMES they r uh changing.... An I don't think its for the better..... GOD Bless ya'll all...

they have scent detectors for gas/propane for the people working for the gas companys, how much harder would it be to program the gadget to detect possum/deer scent,,ect ???

as for the video part, they make mini-wireless surcurty cams that operate off 9volt batterys,,.
all you would have to have is a netbook/laptop to hook the receiver to and you are in bussiness,,an dc to ac inverter in the pickup could give you the ac power for receiver booster for the cam setup.,the main thing would be the range output of the cameria, which could be boosted with an ampifier circutboard addon....as for the shocker combo,,how hard would it be to put it on the same collar as the tracker collar,,mount the cam in between the 2 units and they could be counter balancers to keep the cam in proper place..,

when you think about what you said ,its not that far fetched,,if a common coonhunter could afford it would be the bigest selling point for it..but look what the garmin has done for trackers,,cam may not be far behind.....

"Scent detectors" for Propane, natural gas, freon, etc etc don't actually sniff and detect the scent of Propane, Nat Gas, or freon. They detect a lack of oxygen. True story just blow in front of one.

BUT , I do remember Grandpa saying a long time ago that some day you be able to put a collar on your dog and then know where he is at all the time. Of course we all rolled on the ground in laughter and made fun of him....

Many years ago he also looked up into the night sky and said '' someday a man will walk on the moon '' ,,, and everybody really had a good laugh at that one...

Who knows what the future holds in technology , but I'd be willing to bet a tracker/shocker combo will come out pretty soon all in one unit.

Did your Grandpa ever talk about the price of silver reaching $100 an oz.? Did he mention when?

That's not too far fetched. I was pondering that yesterday while shopping for new tracking collars. But I was thinking about a light added to the collar as well. People are always saying there is only so much room on a dogs neck. That would take care of that problem. But I don't think it would be successful unless the weight came out to be the same. Otherwise the dog couldn't hold his head up to hunt. I hope these companies are reading this. I'm still not sold on garmin yet, but would like to see a combo collar come out.
