Agree 100%, I am all for a flat tax, whatever it is, X percent and let it go. Close the gubment offices that help steal our hard earned money.

Saw an analysis once that revealed that it took 100 dollars of tax money to give 1 dollar of welfare due to it going from local to state to feds back to state then local with all the grubby thievin gubment hands in between.

So federal welfare is 100 times more expensive than local welfare. 100 bucks to get 1 dollar back to the community that sent it in the first place is rediculous, and that was back in the 90's. No telling what it is now that we have expanded gubment as much as we have.

Did you see the article revealing the huge increase in gubment jobs that paid over 100 grand a year????

Odd you mentioned the costs of medicine seeing as Obama made a MULTI BILLION dollar deal with the largest drug company in the country to get them to sign on to his bill.

I am all for taking baclk control of the Govt. I am surprised you are wanting that as well seeing as YOU are supporting the man and the administration who is in the process of taking our most sacred and personal freedom we can have from us. Our Health. It will no longer be YOUR decision when this passes. It will be the decision of the Board the Govt places you under to determine if you are WORTH being treated fpr whatever illness you may have.

My insurance company has NO control over me. I pay the agreed to price and premiums and get the care I need WHEN I need it.

Go to ANY country that has Govt controlled healthcare and see if they get the quality of care we do.

THEY DONT.

Okiedog, he was talking about doctors practicing DEFENSIVE medicine. That is running tests because of lawsuits.

No doctor wants to be sued, and defensive medicine is a HUGE cost to the consumer.

It's directly related to the liberal politics of the democrats, as even now when they are talking healthcare reform they refuse to take friviolous lawsuits off the table and refuse to protect physicians even when they practice good medicine from being stolen from by trial lawyers.

Incidentally that's where Oprama and the Dems get alot of their money from, ambulance chasers.

On average a medical student graduates with a debt of more than $125,000. Then you have the cost of running an office is more than $100 an hour. The average cost of developing a new pharmaceutical drug is $800 million. These are just some of the overhead doctors face.

When politicians talk about "lowering medical care costs," they are not talking about reducing any of these costs by one red penny. They are talking about forcing prices down through one of their liberal schemes.

There is already 125,000 pages of Medicare regulations and pricing guidelines the Govt MANDATES. "Universal health care" will only mean more.

Health-care costs are the result of a 1965 Social Security amendment that created Medicare and Medicaid. It initially was a basic welfare program that covered most persons aged 65 and older as well as all needy individuals. Immediately, four million patients swamped the program treatment and more than 18 million Americans registered to have 80 percent of their medical bills paid by the new program.

Today over 45 Million are on the same program with FEWER people actually working and carrying the load. Thus prices have went up on those of us who actually work and have our own insurance because we, by the forcing of the Govt, have to pay for their care as well.

This the prices on US, who actually pay for our own care have been raised to carry THEIR debt on the Govt and Insurance companies.

What is so hard to understand about that Okie. It isn't rocket science. it is basic 3rd grade math.

When this new Obama care bill gets passed the number of people dependent on the Govt for their medical care will increase again.

Anyone who works and pays taxes will pay MORE out of their pocket to cover the new Health care program.

I you think health care is expensive now, wait until it is "free".

Senate Health Care Bill in Time for Christmas?
Senate Democrats are pitching last-minute holiday deals in an effort to reach a vote on the massive ObamaCare plan before their new Christmas Eve voting deadline. With Congress remaining in session so late, concerned citizens surely must be worried that congressmen won't be able to finish their shopping in time.

Even the public option is on clearance as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) signaled her willingness to see the Senate pass a bill without it. "It isn't just about health care. It's about a healthier America," Pelosi cooed. However, she is well aware that anything goes once the bill is in conference committee, so don't get your hopes up about defeating this monstrosity that easily.

The proposal to expand Medicare to people 55 and over died a quick death after Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) announced he would not support the measure. Democrats angry with Lieberman's stance accused him of flip-flopping because, back in September, he did support expanding Medicare to people between 55 and 64 who were out of work or unable to obtain coverage. His idea, however, became moot when the Senate decided to offer subsidies to the uninsured to purchase insurance.

Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE) remains a wild card after the Senate shot down his amendment to restrict abortion funding in the bill. Nelson rejected the ensuing compromise. He certainly has other considerations, too, not the least of which is the attitude of his constituents. Nebraska is a solidly red state, and recent polling shows that only 20 percent of its citizens support ObamaCare. Nelson doesn't appear to share the Obama administration's sense of urgency, either. Asked during an interview whether he was concerned about his party's self-imposed deadline, he replied, "Are you talking about this Christmas or next Christmas?"

Of course, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) needs Nelson's support for the final package to avoid a filibuster, but any compromise he crafts to meet Nelson's demands to reduce or eliminate taxpayer-funded abortions risks driving away other liberal votes. There are reports that, in an effort to cow Nelson, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel threatened to axe Nebraska's Offutt Air Force Base -- home to U.S. Strategic Command, the successor to Strategic Air Command, which is charged with command-and-control of the entire U.S. nuclear arsenal and employs more than 10,000 servicemen and federal employees.

Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says Reid is being so secretive with the bill, that only those called to Reid's office for a chat have even seen the current bill.

Still, many Democrats are willing to swallow the HarryCare pill because they see even watered-down legislation as the giant first step toward their goal of government-run health care. There's also a strong desire among Democrats to give the White House something, anything, to sign, so that Barack Obama can crow about it during his State of the Union address in January. Health care "reform" is, after all, his primary domestic policy initiative.

In a sense, Democrats are in too deep to pull out now. One Democrat strategist likened it to robbing a bank: "They're in the bank, they've got their guns out. They can run outside with no money, or they can stick it out, go through the gunfight, and get away with the money." Despite this Bonnie and Clyde strategy, let's hope and pray this holiday season that at least three or four Democrats (and a handful of RINOs) realize that all of the ensuing murder and mayhem is not really worth it.

ObamaCare is facing more unlikely opponents every day, including former DNC chief Howard Dean, a medical doctor. "You're going to be forced to buy health insurance from a company that is going to take an average of 27 percent of your money," Dean said, "and there is no choice about that. If you don't buy that insurance you are going to get a fine."

And Dean wasn't done. "This bill I think is more likely to make the crisis worse than it is better because it's so expensive," he said. And as a result, he concluded, "[H]onestly the best thing to do right now is kill the Senate bill." He even penned an op-ed in The Washington Post expounding on his opposition.

Granted, Dean wants something even more leftist than what the Senate is grinding out, but sometimes the enemy of your enemy is your friend.

Basically, what the Demon-rats are saying is "If you filibuster, you miss Christmas. Since we don't really celebrate, it means nothing to us."

your right on clinton on sending our jobs away but it wasn't only him but why should i have to pay for others health insurance i worked my whole life paying my own way now that i'm 70 years old why should i suffer for those that don't see fit to take care of themselfs and there families, as soon as the government gets involved in anything it ends up the workers end up supporting the shirkers
i have always worked at jobs that payed benifits often times making a lessor salary but it covered my families needs i never expected the government to support any of my needs as i man that is my job not theres.
heres a good one my retirement covers me and my wife on medical insurance as long as we like obamas plan says now i have to pay a tax if i don't join his plan

I THANK THE GOOD LORD EVERY DAY I LIVE WHERE I DO BUT THE GOVERMENT NEEDS TO TAKE BETTER CARE OF ITS TAX PAYING CITIZENS AND DEPORT THE REST BACK TO WHERE THEY COME FROM AND BUILD A BIG WALL. THEY CAN BAILOUT BANKS AND MAJOR CORPERATIONS BUT THEY CANT GIVE A MAN THAT WORKED AND EARNED HIS MONEY WHEN HE WAS ABLE TO WORK A LITTLE MORE? THAT AINT RIGHT!
