sorry to hear about the parvo

i took zues out with the big dogs saturday night,first night blu has been out in 3 months. anyway i wanted to get the pup around some timber at night,the dog box,and let him see his daddy at work.
after blu treed i took him in.he followed me right to the tree.wich was growing out of a creek bank,curved up with a big hole in it.blu stood there in two foot of water up on that tree trying his damdest to get in the hole.zuess ran up and down the creek sniffing the tracks that were in the mud and he actully followed the set that went to the tree until he had to get wet then he stoped and just looked at his daddy wagging his tail.
all in all i was pleased with the pup and suprised he actually took an intrest in the coon tracks in the creek for the small amount of time ive worked with him.i mostley have just been obediance trainning them,and working with the female on the blood trailing thing.poor zues has only seen one coon tail a buddy brought me.

Glad to hear you got ole boy back out and in the woods. I am sure he loved it and probably felt good for you to get back in the woods also!! These pups out here are havin a lot of fun with the cats but that is about all we have to run. They have quite an interest in coyotes also. They like to go out to the crp grass and run on fresh yote tracks out there. Hopefully goin to get on some coon here in january after the deer season is done.

it did feel good to be back in the woods,especialy with blu.i really needed it.i have had some complications since my first heart surgery and was back in the hospital at thanksgiving,havent really felt well since,but a night in the woods with my favorite huntin buddy(blu)made me feel alot better.and working with zues makes me feel better too,he is so much like his daddy it aint funny.he acts like him looks like him,i need to post some pics of the little fella,my son calls him little blu.on the coyote thing,im not sure if thats what you want to run them on but if you do look around and see if theres a fox pen near you and get them in that,once they start running fox they will usaully chase yotes,i have two deer hounds that will flat run one down.

Kinda off the Subject But this is one of My Kids !! Saltlick Kennels "Red Socks" He is a Full Brother to SLK Hammer ..

He had been a Pup that was in our Youth program and well he ended up being returned Due to the Youth Changing their goals ..

Anyway He is now a Trainer in a Yote pen in NY.. But is hunted on wild Yotes often.. This pic is from almost 2 weeks ago . After a 2-1/2 hour run on this 60# Yote Red Bayed it then rung him Out before the Houndsmen could get to him !! He was running with 1 Pup along for the ride !!

Ally/Boo pups due in Mid April

I've been waiting so long for this day....and I'm hoping she took.....Went to see Steve and BOO on Friday....First time they knotted up for 25 minutes.....Then 4 1/2 hours later we tried again and they stayed knotted up for 38 minutes....It was day 11 1/2 -12 of her heat cycle........

My goal is to take my gyp's extremely cold nose and uncanny fast tracking ability and combine it with Boo's speed and coon killing instinct. Homogonize the 2 together to get a super cold nosed, loud mouth, fast tracking hunting machine....
I got Ally to train and use as a blood tracking hound to recover wounded game, specifically deer. so I started training her at 11 weeks of age.....She went 8 for 9 in deer recoveries her first season as a young pup, and 7 for 7 this past season.

side note: Ally has treed coons before while we've been out just walking in the woods, but I never really focused on coons with her....She did see her first wild boar this year at the Grand American.....nearly pulled my arm out of socket to get to that thing and she was all fired up the rest of the day.......

Ally is truly a sweetheart of a hound, and she aims to please in the field...When it's time to to go to work, she's all busines.......she'll be turning 2 years old the same date the pups are due.

I have followed SLK's "Boo" very closely since he was born, and he is everything and more than what I was wanting to cross to....I could go on and on for hours about him....He's a gentleman to handle, and a monster in the woods...

Pups "by the numbers" would be 38% BlueGascon, 31% Bloodhound, 25% English and a splash of B&T.....

I stopped by steves yesterday,GOT STUCK,steve had to shuttle us to the house.
should have seen the look on my wifes face when steve started letting the "clan" out for a romp,all she talked about on the ride home was how big all the hounds were.

Chuck....I got stuck on Friday....never made it to the "Y" in the driveway......got hung up about 150 yards in........Thank got Steve fired up the old tractor and pulled me out.......

My wife was the same way her first time there.....It's definitely a "greeting to remember" once his doors open and the kids are cut loose.....

Blaine...I hear ya....I'm hoping there's a least a few blue ones in the litter

my son,who i hope becomes a great houndsman some day,was just in awe over steves dogs.he has an eye for hounds and he had somthing to say about every hound steve has.he was really impressed with kitten,the smaller blue tick looking hound,she is not the most impressive hound there but she caught his eye for some reason.well i have to take that back,he was really impressed with hammer and queen.he spoke more of those two

Have bever seen queen but hammer is a good looker. I have only seen hammer, bear, and Boo. All 3 of those really made an impression on me.

blaine queen is a gorgeous tri colored walker looking hound,very big boned and loud,real deep voice.
I cant wait till steve breeds her with sheltons hammer,the pups from that should be awsome.
