Ok! If the dog was carded for 2nd tree, there was no reason to start a 5 minute clock on him. Once dog A's tree is closed and you find out dog B is split, I consider dog B's tree also closed because what else can you do? You can't start a 5 at that point. If you can't run the 5, then you must consider the tree closed.
I have never seen any judge start the 5 on a dog that is treed in for 2nd, 3rd or 4th tree.

start the five, and when the five is up and you go into scoring the dogs B is split and C is with him and not treed in before the five, then C is minused if the coon is seen cause both A and B trees are dead, it is a tough break for C

The judge is now suposed to take the call but the dog must go on the card for 125 and be minussed if its not split.

This way, at the end of the hunt the judge cant refuse a tree call only to find the dog split but now its too late to call it.

Thanks Marv. That was exactly my point.

Was B's tree up on the orginal 5 minutes?

Allen since your in the mood of answering questions. Remember they knew the exact time dog B treed.

1:30 + 3:30 = 5:00

I didnt know. I though in order to score a tree you have to have atleast one of the following to happed. All dogs declared treed or dog holds it's tree for 5 minutes. Never seen anything like it.

Oh boy, I am in trouble big time. Hopefully, better late than never. Sorry Champ.

In accordance with Rule 11, it is the decision and responsibility of the judge to declare any dog(s) split if it is obvious to them. If it's not obvious, as seems was the case here, then you don't start a separate time at any point. In this case dog B's tree would have been closed at the same time as dog A's.

Further, the fact that the judge knew the exact time gone on the five when dog B was declared treed is irrelative.
