Missouri youth season - taken Halloween day. Both boys have hunted since they were 7 - the oldest (15) has gotten several bucks but the youngest (10) has always gotten does. This is his first buck and he's pretty happy with it. Youngest and dad were in a popup blind - dad holding up a flap and using his arm for a gun rest - dropped him in his tracks at 200 yards with a Remington 243. When they came out of the blind he got up and ran and a couple minutes later they heard oldest shoot twice. They found the youngest's deer about 300 yards away and the oldest's deer was within 50 yards of where he got his deer last year.

Unfortunately - we had a coon hunt last night and I forgot to take the camera. When they came by the hunt all I had was my cellphone so we had to take the pictures this morning.

Austin's deer - 11 point, 13 inches wide, 16 inches tall

Nick's deer - 8 point, 16 inches wide, 13 inches tall

Austin Nethery
Son Of Richard Nethery.
He got this Eight Point this morning, the second day of Youth Weekend.
He is 14 Years Old. Wish I had one for my Daughtor Emily but she missed hers yesterday. She gave it a good try though.
Here is a Pic of Austin and his Deer.

Mjflores.

Austin Says Thanks,
Man this was a great hunt, At the point where Austin Dropped the hammer, the buck had busted us, and was about to be gone.
Austin anchored the buck at 50 yards with a frontal heart shot, with his Savage 110 30 06.
I wish Emily could have hit hers yesterday, but she shot over it with her Springfield Bolt Action 30 30.
All in all though we had a good youth weekend.
Next weekend, its my turn, as us old folks get to use our rifles. LOL

Love to see those young ones get their deer. We know several young guys that got their first bucks this year. Always a fun thing to see them go.

Shot October 31st with my new Darton Bow I won at the Dan Kollek hunt with Convoy. Using a Hell Razor at 18 yards and he went about 70 yards. No monster, but a nice 2 1/2 year old buck with a 15 inch inside spread.

Halloween buck

I still can't figure out how to post a picture directly on here.

But, its a pope and young 8 pt that went 40 yards. Bow and arrow kill. I did not get a complete pass through and when he turned to run the half sticking out smacked a beech and broke. When we skinned him the broadhead had caused a 5 inch gash on the opposite side through his ribcage. I used rocky mtn assassins. The rut is definitely on in southern Indiana. He was chasing two does. They got a way from him and I hit the tru talker and tricked him. A good twenty yard shot. The taxidermist said he is a 3.5 year old.
