A recommendation
Lyndon Crosby was the BSJ for one of our club's recent shows. And I recommend him highly if you want an honest BSJ who does an excellent job. Yes, I showed some dogs when he judged, but I didn't win anything "big" and I don't have a problem with his choices. I like the way he checks the dogs without "manhandling"
them. Each exhibitor feels as though he's thoroughly considered their dog and he's polite while being efficient.
On the topic of physically examining dogs - last weekend I experienced a judge who terrorized some of the entries because of her rough technique while supposedly examining dogs on the bench, grabbing them around the ribcage from behind (surprise attack) and creating a "squeeze chute" while moving "the squeeze" back to totally destabalize each dog's stance.

Lyndon is a very good judge, and he is right about our plott, lol, he and my wife has gone head to head several times and both have won. His Walker Carolina is a beatifull hound. But as I said at the start some judges said she sould be removed from the bench and that is wrong and that is my gripe, either they don`t know any better or that is their excuse to ...... on another note when I judge I do believe in putting my hands on a dog so I can check for muscle tone, especially if there is more than one in the show I will go for the one with the better muscles in a tie.
And for the clubs who use those judges I won`t be spending my money at their club, and the clubs who won`t say ahead of time who the judges are I won`t waste my time going there. Lifes to short and I`m getting to old for the BS.

Blueticking:it
You are right in that it would cut entries in half. I wish there was another way UKC could do that without cutting entries. Our club done this when we held the AKC Grand Nationals & it went very well. I voted differently on 1 dog I was told by other 2 judges after the show, but 2 out of 3 picked the winners & that's fine with me. This show went over very well & was told by poeple showing that this was one of the best shows they'd ever attended. It looked very professional & went extremely well. I too thought it was as good a show as I've ever saw.

I've shown under Lyndon too, he's a good FAIR judge!!!
I was reading over the new breed standards for Walkers and noticed that white or pink spots on the nose is now acceptable, just wonder how many judges are still gonna hold this aganist dogs.

I've never been a big fan of 3 judge shows. One I know of was won with all second place votes and non of three agreed on who they thought was first. Wasn't dishonest just showed the variance in their personal preferences when looking at several nice dogs that did meet their standards.
Most judges give their honest opinion , it just isn't the same as many think it should be. You have to accept that for the day but also know that the minute that show is over your opinion is worth the same as theres and if you got a nice dog thats worth taking down the road to the next one.
A QUESTION : Have you ever watched the American Idol tryouts ?
Some think they 're the real deal and in reality they should be arrested for disturbing the peace.
rowdyhound......i knowwhatcha mean....i had someone try and Ban Nasty from showing,,,,, he said what lil white on her nose was a DQ.......i had to show them the deduction not DQ...... tho most did not count it agin her... had one judge say no way would he pick on with white....

The way I read it pink or white on the nose IS NOT a deduction any more. I'm just worried some of the old schoolers will still take off for it.

ok the whole head is worth 5pts,how much for a little
spot of pink?
you can word it anyway you want a fault is undesireable
or never it all means the same.
This is out of the 2009/2010 UKC rule book under TW.,
NOSE: Rather large and prominent, with black pigment preferred. White or pink spots inside the nostril or on the outside of the nose are acceptable.
