The difference between you and elvis, and JiM, and I is that we have all been to "your country" and managed to tree coon....

You on the other hand, draw conclusions about what it's like up here.....

Have you been to North Georgia? Did you hunt feeder buckets or natural woods? DId you tree the usual 8 singles per hour that you do up there in your part of the country? I was trying to be nice and make a valid point and you come back with this. Do you really feel that it's the same thing hunting down here and hunting up there?

By the way, If i had a friend from up north that wanted me to come hunt then one day I would probably make plans and find time to. I can't hardly afford to just travel the country and coonhunt everywhere. Gas money and time are valuable.

Yes, been to North Georgia....and managed to tree a couple coon. No feeder buckets, and no, we did not tree 8 singles in an hour....I've only EVER done that one time...come to think of it...it was only seven singles in one hour....so I've never done it.

I was not being "snotty"...and the fact that you "assume" that I hunted over feeder buckets, and by making statements about "8 singles an our" being "usual"...that simply proves my point.

The biggest difference that I saw between the two was the density of coon. There are simply more coon per square acre, or square mile here... The coon still had striped tails, and they still climbed trees. The dogs had to go hunting to strike a track, but they did in fact put coon in trees. It was not the nearly impossible feat that you make it out to be, treeing the coon was not any different here than there, finding a coon to tree was the only difference.

Fact is, we also treed on a couple of den trees....but we didn't beat our dogs because it was dark and we made the assumption that the coon should be outside of the den....we leashed em up..turned em loose again and found another coon to tree....

One place I hunt is full of den trees. I like to take young dogs there just to smell all the tracks going up trees. If you're looking to go den tree hunting it's the place.

Den Trees

I am treeing in a Den about once or twice a week. Every den I tree I will search the hole if I have to climb to look in it. Have not missed yet. Last night treed ina den and smoked it out and well two came out, one boer and one sow. So I cant speak for or about anyone elses dogs, but I know during the winter months you are going to tree ALOT more dens then you will in the summer months. First because hell its cold and they wanna be warm just like us and two the boers are checkin dens for sows. So Id say check your dens bc there is always a chance there is a coon in there.

I have never nor will I ever whoop a dog for a den tree, like I said in my earlier post I check dens and if there is a coon in there I pet them just like treeing one on the outside, after all a dog cant determine if they are in a den or not, all they knowis the coon went up that tree so he is up there somewhere. I personally have treed 11 coons in about an hour and a half and that was in Indiana. Thats the best huntin I have ever done, it was fun easy walkin and good company. But saying that it is impossible to tree 8 coons in an hour or assuming that just because where someone hunts is the reason they make more den trees or trees in general is ignorant. Yeah thicker coons means more trees, but the coons sure arent thick in oklahoma and Im treeing on average 3 a night. To me thats pretty good for only hunting an hour ot two.

Most people return to their homes aftre going out to eat,so why is it so hard to believe that a coon would return to it's home/den after feeding/
