I have a dog that jacks the tree bad and I wont hunt it in the hunts because of that.

People are always talking about leaving the mean dogs at home, I think that they should leave the tree jackers their also.

Tree jacking is more likely to start a fight than anything else.

I agree! They should also leave these dogs that cant stay treed at home also!! It drives me nuts to be on a cast and a handler trees his dog, and either the dog wont stay treed or wasnt treed to start with. They get minused. Then that handler whispers to me, " WE MUST HAVE A MEAN DOG IN THE CAST"!! They fool themselves into thinking the only way their dog will leave is if they got run off by a mean dog! If a dog leaves because of a little blowing and face barking, SHOOT TO KILL!!

Heres a thought!! Alot of times folks like to blame other folks dogs for running off game or treeing off game. They say, his dog got mine to running deer!! The other says, well, they aint tied together! He didnt have to run it. Well if a dog blows or face barks and another dog leaves the tree, and the dog that blowed stayed and treed, how is it the blowing dogs fault?? He stayed! HE STAYED!! HE STAAAAAYED!!! The other dog should had also!!!!!!

If the dog is not being interfered with from aggression, he cant be scratched. You must have both ingredients together! Not 1 ingredient on one tree, and another ingredient on a different tree. They must be on same tree. If u put eggs in a bowl, milk in a seperate bowl, and cake mix in a 3rd bowl, u aint gonna have no cake!!

That's exactly it!

I pretty much give up on making my point.... YOU WIN gfults !!

Just one thing before I leave.. I will shorten my quote one last time to include the aggression WITH the interference. Here is my quote from above in the post.

(((If, in the process of face barking , contact is made and it intimidates or agitates another dog in any way , then that is interferance and scratchable)))) quote...

That quote shows both at the SAME TIME ON THE SAME TREE...

Quote RedBones4me;
then it doesnt matter how aggitated or intimidated your dog feels, you cant scratch the other because yours has not been interferred with.

RedBones4me ... I have no idea how my dog ''FEELS'' I only know if you interfere with another dog , it is scratchable. I would have to check with Oprah Winfrey to see how he '' FEELS '' ..

I think we have pretty much worn out this subject and as I stated in my very first post , it is almost never agreed upon.. Good hunting to you boys.......

aggressive behavior

After reading some of the quotes by one gentleman claiming to be a MOH, it would seem to me that UKC should review it's policy on issuing MOH licenses.

I agree with you. I read the whole thread and its clear he is not qualified to be in a position of authority from some of the comments he has made reguarding others and understanding the written rules from UKC. His MOH licence should be suspended from this attitude in my opinion.

gfults, I do know what an ill hound is and I will not tolerate one. I know that there is a big difference in defending one's self and causing the problem to start with. A dog SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DEFEND HIMSELF AT A TREE! I've seen dogs get tumbled by dogs jacking and also just by movement and not get upset, just keep treeing. Most dogs that are hunted in rough company very much will get very touchy about another dog bumping into them, they learn to protect themselves.

If you beleive that my tolerance for ill dogs will change if I own one you are only kidding yourself. I have been there and know what I will do and it's not keeping them and putting them in hunts.

gfults, you really should go back and read what you have written. It really does make you sound like someone I would NOT hunt with if I could help it.

Well you posted in a previous post that.....

(((If, in the process of face barking , contact is made and it intimidates or agitates another dog in any way , then that is interferance and scratchable))))

But then you post.....

(((I have no idea how my dog ''FEELS'' I only know if you interfere with another dog , it is scratchable. I would have to check with Oprah Winfrey to see how he '' FEELS '' ..)))

Then how could you even scratch a dog for being aggressive and interfering (aggitated or intimidated) with your dog because, like you said .... You dont know how your dog feels.

Maybe Oprah needs to be the judge on your cast.

face barking

as soon as i seen my dog face barking id take a hickory stick and show him the only agressor is his handler.AND MOST TREE JACKERS WILL NOT JACK THE TREE WITH ALOT OF COMPANY.

BUT IF YOUR DOG JUMPS ON MINE WITH OUT A REASON.WHILE PLEASURE HUNTING OR IN A COMPETION.BECAUSE YOU KNOW UR SELF THAT YOUR DOG IS ILL ITS NOT THE FIRST TIME ITS HAPPENED.THATS WHAT WE HEAR ALL THE TIME HES NEVER DONE THAT DONT KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH HIM.THAT DOG SHOULD BE CULLED.

JUST BECAUSE A DOG TREES A COON HE IS NOT A COON DOG.

DOGS ARE LIKE KIDS IF YOU CANT MAKE THEM MIND AT HOME WHAT YOU THINK THEY GONNA DO OUT IN COMPANY.

Thank you!!! I was worried u were gonna want to go huntin with me sometime. You can say what u will about me. I dont care! Anyone who thinks a dog that defends himself at a tree is ill dont have the right to comment about the intelligence of another!

I aint never been gator hunting. We dont have them here in middle Tenn!! If my interpretation of the rules is strange, then so is UKCs! UKCs rules simply say u have to have aggression and interference! Not one or the other. If u will reread my post u will see thats exactly what i said. When u reread my post, if u have trouble with the bigger words, like A, An and The, let me know> I will try to help u!!

You dont even know what u wrote! Go back and look. U said on ur cast u warn the handler of a facebarker that he is one step away from a scratch, and will be watched closely for interference on every tree! U say nothing about having both aggression and interference on the SAME TREE! If a dog is showing aggression only on the first tree, and interference only on the third tree, u CANNOT scratch the dog!!

I DONT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE WORDS I CAN READ JUST FINE CANT SPELL SOMETIMES BUT I CAN READ. THE ONLY THING I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IS IDIOTS!! SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH COONDOGS , EVEN AS A MOH I BET YOU DONT KNOW WHAT ONE IS, AS FAR AS FACE BARKING AND TREE JACKING LOOK AT IT LIKE THIS , IF YOU WAS SCREAMING IN A COWORKERS FACE , OR JUMPING ALL OVER THEM YOU WOULD NOT HAVE A JOB LONG ,

Ur calling me an idiot?? lol. Well just tell me what kind of a genius allows a computer site discussion about dogs to get themselves riled up!! If I get up in ur face and start yelling and cussing at u, are u gonna take off running?? Probably not! So how can u sit there and blame a dog that simply blows or facebarks for another dog leaving a tree? U cant. Makes no sense at all! I dont care what some of u think about me neither. None of u know me but have already made comments that i hunt ill dogs and that i dont know what a coondog is and that my moh shoul be suspended! No, i dont hunt ill dogs. But i bet they will be there when i get there! As far as the other, dont do me any favors!! Whats idiotic is passing judgement on someone youve never met or even seen!

Posted by Bill(Chew) on 07-03-2008 01:01 PM:

gfults, you seen to be the most aggitated person on this post. You also seem to be passing judgment on others, I laught at your posts and truly hope that you are not as bad as you sound like. You write like you are text messaging, how old are you? I may have had more good dogs than you have had all together, I don't know but you are coming across as an arrogant kid.

You keep telling me that I don't know the difference between a dog defending themselves and an ill dog, you don't beleive me but I do. I also beleive that a dog SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DEFEND HIMSELF AT A TREE. If you cull the ill dogs instead of hunting them because they win ( because other dogs won't tree with them) them you don't have to have a dog who will fight to stay.

I've hunted several that would fight to stay if needed but they had to be forced to fight, they were not touchy at all. I've also had a top young female who after drawing ill dogs in three straight hunts became a buzzsaw herself, she went to a pleasure hunter with no papers and will not see another hunt. I perfer dogs who just back up and keep treeing.

Longshot - Minus that loveable face barker for "not showing tree"

The face barker sure has something going on besides having a coon shot down to him.

Ah, what do you want to bet that if he face barks on the first tree that he will on the second, third, etc? If he never does more than face bark then you can not scratch. But if he is face barking and is keeping another dog from treeing then you scratch.

The face barker will!! If the other mutt dont stay then he is minused and prob wont win anyway. If the mutt dont stay, then when the cast gets to the tree, there will be nothin for the facebarker to facebark at. Cant scratch him then!!
