I guess the one that stands out the most was back in the late 70s when me and big brother were huntin (hide huntin) and we had a "COLD NOSED" dog, ya'll know the type..freeze ya out but always get the coon treed well after about 3 hours he treed and we got to him low and behold there was as a coon skeleton on the lower limb (guess somebody shot it and did'nt kill it) now we knew that ole hound were'nt THAT cold nosed. We shined the tree and there sat a big coon just a huggin a big limb..

this one was'nt in a tree..but I was out hunting one night by a lake by myself and I saw a nose sticking outa the water (I was around 10yr old) so after cleaning my drawers I got a stick and poked the "dead" human..or so I thought..it turned out to be those nose and glasses masks and I SURE was glad!! LOL

believe it or not i had shot a coon one night that got hung up in the top of the tree, and the following week i went back hunting a different dog and he treed in the exact same tree and the only coon i saw was the same dead coon from the previous week.

I had an incident where I took my hound to a state park during the daytime for some exercise. There happened to be a DEC officer I knew in the parking lot, so I turned my dog loose and was chatting with the guy when my dog treed right in front of us, but he wasn't barking. But he sure seemed interested in something in that tree--he was standing on it and jumping up now and then. I went over to take a look just as he grabbed something white. Not knowing what it was, I gave him a firm "drop it" and he did. It was a peanut butter sandwich! I let him have it... I have no idea how it got in the tree.

Another time, the same dog (yes he's a pot licker and used to eating human food) was treed hard on a small spruce tree in my fenced yard. He has free run of the yard and has been known to bark at all sorts of things in the yard when he knows he's not hunting, but this time he sounded properly treed so I went out to check. I didn't see anything, but the tree was small enough so I could bend the top down. I found chicken bones! They looked like they had been butchered--there were clean breaks. Its possible that a coon had taken them from the neighbor's garbage, but I suspect that would be giving the hound too much benefit of the doubt... Talk about treeing trash!

A buddy of mine was hunting about a mile south of my house, many years ago and treed a guys pet monkey in his yard. He went to get his dog and apologize to the home owner. When the home owner came out, he was very kind and told my buddy that it was the second time that coonhounds had treed that monkey. I know this is a story I shouldnt even tell, but it is completely true.

Like longshot we have numerous Flying Squirrels and the dogs do tree them quite a bit...They are nocturnal thats why you see them at night....but the strangest thing I've ever seen is when my hound treed a balloon....yes it is a walker...

Had a young female I was getting started and as we were almost back to the truck one night she came treed. Was really laying em out. We went back to her and she was on a tree about as big as your leg. It had a hole up about 4 feet and my buddy ran a stick in it, then out of a hole in the bottom ran two mice.

My Dad and my Grandpa had tow pretty good dogs when I was young and they treed one night and all they could find was a rabbit in the fork of the tree with is head missing.

I also treed in a tree that had a coon and a rabbit in it.
