guess i should of put it a diff way if u walk in and see a dog attack your dog all i know is if i see one attack mine ill kick the crap out of it and if the owner wants to go a few rounds after thats fine with me not pointing right at u ironwood just anyones dog i see ATTACK MY DOG IS WHAT I WAS GETTING AT I GUESS

Your right Jim I don't own a mean dog. Can't stand them. If I even hear of one Ill not hunt with it. Im sure alot of young hounds are ruined from this.
Im sure there are alot of mean dogs hunted all the time and the owners know it. Too bad too. I could have the best coon dog in the world and if it was mean it wouldn't be mine.

But if by chance I did hunt with a stranger and didn't know the dog and a fight broke out I sure wouldn't beat another mans hound. I would just load up and leave never to hunt with that dog and probably that guy again. Because I guarantee you he knew his dog was mean. Didn't bother to say anything. Except geesh he's never acted like that before! How many times you hear that?

I don't mean that anyone should beat someone else's dog within an inch of it's life... I guess I made it sound that way.

Going by the "some dogs just don't get along" thing, I can say that if my dog happened to jump on another dog, I wouldn't want anyone to jump on him. I'd want to take care of it myself and I'd probably get pissed if someone did jump my dog.... hell, I don't know where I stand on this!!!!! Just keep ole Fangs in the pen people!

Hey, terky, don't take it personal, but would you defend yourself if someone jumped you? If you answer yes, do you think you should be punished for defending yourself?

Do you really think a dog should be, and I quote,"Beat to death" for defending itself?

Just because a person approaches the situation sensibly doesn't mean he would just sit down and watch.

I've learned (and you can take this for what it's worth) there is a right way and a wrong way to go about anything.

Guys I hate a mean dog just as much as the next guy. But I have to agree with Craig.

As far as the hunts go Im sure enough people in that area know the dogs and if enough say its mean then it shouldn't be allowed to compete. Just my opinion.

Well I won't hunt a mean dog and if I end up with one no one will ever have to worry about getting it. BANG!!!!! If two dogs are rollin I ain't getting bit tring to peacfully break it up. Sorry, the first one I come to is getting booted. If that is a problem then to bad. I have never beat anyone elses dog but I have kicked one and I repeat one of someone elses for jumping on mine. I was there and seen it, had mine on a leash and the other was coming after him. Guess the owner felt it was ok cause he sure didn't complaine. Have hunted in the hunts for about 9-10 years I guess and have judged lots of casts and only scratched one dog for fighting. In those same 9-10 years I have had one dog scratched for fighting and that was when he came into another dogs tree. They both got it and it was atleast the secound for the other dog. Had had the old dog in the hunts for like seven years when that happend with not one problem ever. What do you think happend at the tree where mine got wrote up. Recon mine started it or the other jumped him when he got up on the tree? I am not saying you should beat another mans dog but You go pulling on a dog that is mad you are lible to get the fangs your self and let me tell you those tetnis shots hurt about as bad as the dog bites usually. I guess I would be on the end of some of those don't touch my dog second fights but you do what you need to and I will do the same. Sorry if it ever comes to that in advance.

I would shoot a mean dog in a heart beat. Would not be a problem, or I guess maybe I could post it on here for sale to someone else as a straight coon treeing machine without a mean hair on him. The one and only dog I have scratched in the night hunts had never done it before. Imagin that. Just because a dog jumps at the tree doesn't mean one has to grab it. You are right, jumping does start lots of scuffles. I agree with that but, just because a dog lands on one doesn't have to start a fight. How many times you been bumped into at a bar? Did you throw down each and every time or just realize that it was an accident or just someone that is way drunk. I have also seen someone try to knock you down like that and that usually gains some attention.

I do not understand why some of these dogs are in these hunts. I could not own one that I couldn't take hunting with my friend and not worry about what is going to happen. Yes things happen and innocent dogs get wrote up but an innocent dog won't ever get barred for fighting. If a dog gets wrote up three times you can bet there is fire with that much smoke. This cracks me up that people say don't touch my dog and all that and maybe they are right. Maybe it isn't the dogs fault at all, maybe it is the one feeding them that is the problem. I do not have a problem correcting my dog, but I kind of look at it like if two guys are in a fight and one is your best buddy you are going to do what need be to break it up. What ever that might be. The majority of the blame for mean dogs has to lye in the hands of todays breeders. We breed for some much tree power that they can't help but want to clame the tree and sometimes that means one that is a little touchy. That is where culling to help the breed should come into play, but I guess the want to win in compitition is to strong for some and if old fangs is a good dog they just have to put them in the hunts and forget about the dogs that everyone else has enterd.

I know a guy that used to hunt with a guy that traded dogs alot, they went one night and at the first tree his dog was way back from the tree bleeding, on the second tree he went in and the dog had chewed his up again, he shot the mans dog, took the collar off and started down the hill when the other guy was coming up, he said, " you get him buck" "yea I got him, here's your collar" " darn you shot my dog buck" " yea and if you bring another mean one tomorrow night ill shoot him too".

I haven't been in a nite hunt for several years. I was working with a blue JetV male I made a nite champion in 3 hunts. I did have alot of fun. I also hunted with a buddy in several after that. I saw about everything then. I was lucky not to have to deal with alot of dog fussing then. This is when I decided to give it up for awhile. Pkc hunted some locally and saw alot of face barking and dogs running each other around here. I guess I like to pleasure hunt too much to get agitated with the hunts.
I like to hunt females now seems less likely to have problems.
I to this day don't even like a dog that face barks bad. Trouble in the making right there!

Lots of fine folks out there and lots of folks hunting aggressive dogs and they now it. I say keep them at home, hunt them alone!
