If Leopards were that much better , they'd win every cur hunt there is and nobody would hunt anything else .

I've hunted with a few Leopards .... they didn't make me want to get rid of any hounds.

SINCE THERE IS NO NEED TO LET CUR AND HOUND HUNT TOGETHER BECAUSE CUR HUNTERS WONT TRAVEL VAST DISTANCES TO SUPPORT THEIR OWN NITE HUNTS, THEN I HAVE A WONDERFUL IDEA.

SINCE I DO NOT EVER SEE MORE THAN A COUPLE BLUETICKS, B&T'S, PLOTTS, REDBONES AT OUR LOCAL HUNTS THEN WE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO REFUSE ENTRY TO THEM SINCE THEY DONT SUPPORT THE HUNTS THEY COULD BE COMPETING IN! HOW BOUT THAT! THEN THEY COULD SET UP THEIR OWN WORLD HUNTS(LIKE THE BLUETICKERS, ROFL!)

Posted by get um redtick on 08-08-2007 09:57 PM:

if i wanted to hunt my cur i would have to got to WV before i can hunt. i see some blueticks and redbones in our hunts but bo B&T's and if you let the curs in it may get a some more people to come to comp. hunts.

I'm not interested in listening to squeky-mouthed, silent trailing, 130 bark tree dog curs. I don't care if they tree 4 sacks full of coons. that's not why I go coon hunting. THEY ARE VARMIT DOGS, NOT COON DOGS. If a person wants to "meat" or 'hide' hunt, the cur dog is the way to go, but for the pleasure of listening to a hound work a track, locate on the tree, and turn over to a solid tree bark, WE MUST NEVER ALLOW THIS GREAT GULF TO BE CROSSED BY CURS HUNTING IN COMPITITION. \ ENOUGH SAID.

FUNNY!!!. Trott.

Don't know if he has hunted with one, but if he has not i bet the person who told him heard it from his cousin who's boyfriend has a dad who works with a man that son hunts them, lol. If he has hunted with one then he has the right to that opinion of the one he hunted with, but they do make more than one kind. Trott.

I hunt curs and Justin has a valid point, not many of us hunt them in hunts. Trott.

Let's See...

Get um Redtick posted this link a couple of responses ago...

http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/...82007_00001.jpg

I would like to see one other breed show me something close to the standards that you see on the back of the ALCBA reg. papers.

I'm not saying that there have not been some folks who have gone around this one way or another but I would imagine that a good majority of the people have followed the rules and that is the reason that the breed has come so far in the last 50 or so years.

I think that most folks would have a hard time arguing against putting the Leopards in with the other hound breeds if the word cur was not in the name!

Leopards are open on track, they are tree dogs, they are very successfuly hunted on tree game much harder to tree than a coon (ie. bobcat & gray fox). I can't believe that they are not already the seventh UKC coonhound breed.

Black and Tan
Bluetick
English
Leopard
Plott
Redbone
Treeing Walker

That just looks right in every way to me. I would like someone to give me their best argument on why the Loepards should not be on this list. I will debate each of you who wishes to respond respectfully. Also, if you would like to respond in private you can PM me or send your response to my e-mail account.

I thought the only people on here crying were the ones making excuses for not hunting them together. Maybe its just a little crying now so they wont have to cry later, when the man with the Cur is being handed the scorecard.

I agree. I hunt blueticks but was given the opportunity several years ago to hunt with John Wicks leopard cur Jug.

When I got home my buddies ask me what kind of dog he was.
I told them he was a coondog. He may have been funny colored but he was a hound as far as I am concerned and a good one.
He hunted hard, opened on track with a bawl, located a tree with a dying bawl and rolled it over to a never ending chop.

I also hunted with a few more Leopards and I believe these dogs are a lot more hound than cur.

UKC needs to check into letting curs in, if for no other reason but boost up participation in the hunts. In the local hunts i go to,they are lucky to have 10 dogs in the hunts. That's open and nt.ch. With the price of gas, entry fees for show and hunts, the registry has got to be down. Years ago, your local hunts would have anywere from 30-50 dogs at every one you attended. I think ukc needs to do whatever it takes to get back to that kind of draw out. I'm a die hard walker man, but i dont loose any sleep over another coon hunter wanting to hunt whatever color he chooses. Ive been beat by every color and that includes a cur dog. jmo!!!
