A Big Thanks

I need to say a big Thank You to Larry Stringer yet again. Larry pulled my hams out of the fire while I was gone to training. He hunted Jack for me up in Ohio and I can not thank him enough.

Larry is a fantastic houndsman, and a better friend. Larry....I owe you big time.

Jack is back down here in Tennessee. In thin coons and rough terrain.

Jack has done a bang up job since coming home from Ohio. He has put a coon up every time out. I can't thank Larry enough for all of his help with Jack.

Jack put his first one up in a quick fashion. It was about 15 minutes or so after being cut loose. He put her up on the side of a hill and locked on down.

The second night was a bit longer track. The track itself probably lasted about 15-25 minutes and ended with a small coon down in the flats about 700 yards from where he was cut.

The third night that week was a rough night to be hunting. It was windy and the weather was changing quickly (right before the storms hit). Jack struck and put one in a den at first. After I got him off of that tree I sent him in there again. He ran a good track and ended up on the side of a hill that was dang near vertical....and way and the tippy top of that tree was a big ole sow. I was proud of him that night, he worked hard for that coon, she was old and tried nearly every trick in the book to shake him.

Since then, it's been so icy that I've been locked down on these hills. But this week I'll get my three nights in if it kills me. lol

I've got to have Jack in top form for the Winter Classic.

maybe one nite ill get to see it for myself because from what I hear and most importantly who I hear it from that Jack is a coondog sure enough! good luck at the winter classic to Kent and Jack.

It is official Jack will be competing in the 2014 Winter Classic I got my confirmation back from UKC.

I took the opportunity to get up with Jon Christmas again last night for a GREAT night of hunting.

We took off to a new place of Jon's with Jack and Rusty. We cut them right on the timberline and the struck fairly quick. Jack and Rusty moved that coon through the timber about 350 yards (from place of strike) and treed with conviction. To boot, they treed a good bit as we walked the edge of the treeline in the field to get to them.

Rusty really impressed me. He struck in quick and really laid it down on the tree.

They had treed in a good sized cedar tree and I was almost ready to doubt them when Jon saw his head in a hole through the limbs. (big mistake mr. ringtail) The ole Rossi .22lr single shot took him out of the tree with one shot and down he came.....and boy was he mad about it.

They had a good fight and did a fine job working together to get him finished off.

Jon and myself were both convinced that this coon was bigger than he was. We both thought he was close to 20lbs. but he was only 13lbs when we put him on the scales lol. He was a pretty thing with good color and a mouth full of some of the longest teeth on a coon I've ever seen. This thing's canine's came down past his lower jaw and were stout at the base.

I had a real good time and was highly impressed by Rusty. Jack looked good too, I'm real proud of Jack and his progression and his performance as of late.

Keep those red dogs in the woods guys!

Thanks for all of the kind words on Jack. He is a nice young hound that still has plenty of learning to do. I do as well, lol. He is a real pleasure from the yard chain to the tree. I couldn't have gotten luckier when Larry decided to give this pup to me. I am forever in his debt for all of the good memories with Jack.

Jenny was bred and is now back to Larry and being tuned up for the Winter Classic. I hunted with her recently and she is still a tough one. Larry has a real nice female on his hands with Jenny.

boy i like the way this hound looks he looks all hound. is he bawl on track ?none the less he's a looker

Roger,

Thanks for the compliments on Jack I appreciate them.

Jack has a roar mouth on track with a bawl locate and is chop on the tree. He is a fairly loud dog with a voice that is enjoyable to listen to in the timber. But it is unique enough to pick out of a crowd.

I'll try to get them pics posted in the next couple days. I work monday then off christmas eve and day go back thursday and off for 6 straight.

Daddy works the 31st then he will be laid off for there winter shutdown for 2 months. He said maybe we all can get together before he goes back lol.
