MORELS/LACK OF

VERY POOR FOR ME THIS YEAR.WE ATE A FEW MESSES, GAVE AWAY MAYBE 5LBS. AND ENOUGH TO FILL THE TRUCK ANTENNA. I STARTED DOIN THAT BACK IN THE DAY, THE FIRST ONES I FIND GO ON THE ANTENNA, FOR LUCK I GUESS. THEY DRY DOWN AND STAY RIGHT THERE.WHEN IT'S 5 DEGREES OUT AND SNOW ON THE GROUND, I JUST LOOK AT THAT ANTENNA TO BE REMINDED OF THE WARMER WEATHER AND GOOD THINGS TO COME. <v> p.s. I GOT A HORSESHOE OVER MY DOGBOX DOORS

I have hunted with herold... I've only been here a year,(mostly hunt by myself) but I pleasure hunted with him one nite he had a blue male, and I had my male plott, then saw his dogs at some local hunts, never had a clue he had an oppy pup.

It was a crazy nite, striker didn't really look good, his dog got thru the country and treed one by himself, and striker met us at the tree, then we cut em again and striker blew up treed about a hundred yards away, we got to the tree and his blue dog was there, we found that coon too... wow, small world!

I told someone the other day ole herold had about the second best bluetick i've ever seen, first one being that son off oppy i saw as a kid!! man i'm excited, i'm gonna go visit him this after noon!!

I'll do that, i just went over there, but he wasn't home, i called him and set up a hunt in a couple weeks when i get all my ducks in a row.

i saw her though, he has several hounds, but can't miss an oppy dog, she is a smaller hound with alot of that famous oppy ticking to her. Alot lighter and more ticked up than the rest of the dogs in his kennel!!

can't wait to hunt with her!

As of now I'm off for Bluetick Days. It isn't looking good for being able to hunt Bo and feel confident about my chances. Part of me really wants to take Bentley out there for young guns and then hunt him thru the weekend, but that's a lot of money and time away from work. Might just tell them I'll work instead and save my vacation for another day. Decisions, decisions....

Reasons like what you have just mentioned, and hundreds of other houndsman's tales mixed with Bo's current health weigh heavy on my mind. As you see, my Dad publicly posted on here he thinks I'm making a mistake, so you can imagine what gets said over the phone. Then again, if Bo gets back to where he was, and he is also my very first winning coon dog, I'd like to see some pups out of him. Maybe I should also be doing the same with Bentley and mixing the two lines together for a several years down the road kind of a plan. I am pretty sure my better half would have me living with the dogs if I had that many running around..

Bentley reminds me a lot of Bo when he was younger. I feel strongly about him, and know that this time next year with a hide season in the middle of that time, that I would hate to draw out with Bentley. Gonna be one of them kind that picks um outta the sky and has the track speed to boot. Can catch um by himself, and has scars to prove it.
