Been doing some hunting. Been super busy @ work still but I'm not complaining. Getting ready to take some time off & gonna get back to hinting the woods hard!!! Dirty is coming along pretty good. Roxie May be going to stay in S.C. For a little while so I will just be running him with deuce. Hope y'all have a great Christmas !!!

Good looking bunch of pups Darren. I think this is the first cross on a Hornet female with Logan. A lot of old Ranger back in this pedigree. Good luck with them.

I really think this will be a great cross. Ole Belle is a grand pup outa Hornet and that cross has worked. These are good marked , big headed pups. Hopefully she can raise all of them. I am going to try to get them in hard hunters and competition hunters hands. Darren

HUNT

Drake and myself went for awhile last night. Cold and a full moon didn't make for a great night. First drop I cut BB and Joe loose. BB didn't get struck and Joe ran up the road. I got Cotton out and cut her. She struck an old bad track and Joe came in to her. She worked it down a deep ditch and got treed. It was a den. Joe went about 100 yds deeper and treed. I started to him and Stroker started barking in the box and pulled Joe off the tree. Joe is 10 mths old and has treed his own coon. He is a little inconsistent right now. Next drop we cut Cotton and Stroker. Stroker got struck followed by Cotton. They ran a decent track down the creek and Cotton loaded up. Stroker got treed about 3 or 4 minutes later. We got to the tree and Cotton had the coon and Stroker was split but couldn't find his. I think he just missed him. Y'all keep'em Lookin' up!! Darren

PUPPYS
Lost 3 pups yesterday. All were good yesterday morning but had 3 weak ones yesterday evening. Feel helpless fooling with these pups. Dixie seems to be a good mother but she sure had a bunch to tend to with 10 of them crawling everywhere. Hopefully can raise the rest.

Hunt

My buddy Jason Myers came down tonight and hunted with Drake and me. We had an adventurous hunt. First drop we cut Cotton , Blade and Kink. Kink is Myers 6 mth old pup out of easy II and Ed Mauneys gyp. Blade and Cotton kept trying to tree but wasn't right. We walked in and they were about 20 ft up a leaning tree. Blade got nervous and dove out. Luckily he landed in the creek and didn't hurt him bad. I had to shimmy up and get Cotton. Next drop they struck a sorry track and worked it 700 yds down creek and got treed slick. Last drop cotton struck in about 300 yds and slammed a tree. Had a big coon and we squalled him out to the pups. Myers pup caught him on the ground about 150 yds down hollar and soon was joined by Blade. They were gettin a good whipping and I cut Cotton in on him. She held her own until he cut her bad above her eyelid. She backed off some but they done enough damage to finish him. Done them pups some good. Myers pup gained some confidence tonight so we got something accomplished. Y'all keep'em lookin up. Darren

Ole Cotton has come a long ways. I can usually depend on her to get me one treed. I enjoyed the hunt as well. We will do it again soon. Darren.

Hunt

Drake and myself got a late start tonight. We cut Cotton and Stroker loose at 9:00 on our management area. Not much timber and lots of hunting pressure. Cotton struck in at about 750 yds and started working a bad track. Over a mile later and Stroker got treed. We drove around but had to walk 300 yds thru cutover. Got to them and it was big den. We called it a night with Drake having exams at school tomorrow. Y'all keep'em lookin up. Darren

Pups

Got 5 pups out of Logan x Dixie. All are doing good. Should raise these 5. Got my 1 female out of Razor x Lady. 2 wks old and gave her a first worming yesterday. I may have tried too hard with these pups. Probly should've just hung a heat lamp and left it at that. Looking forward to hunting this week and seeing these young males keep progressing. Hunt

Drake and myself made a couple drops tonight. First drop we cut Cotton and Stroker. Cotton struck in at 520 yds, followed by Stroker. They worked a decent track up the creek and Stroker soon loaded up. Cotton moved on and crossed the creek. We got about halfway to Stroker and Cotton fell treed about 250 yds to the left. Stroker couldn't take it and pulled up the roots and left. We got to Cotton and she had the grease on a limb. Next drop we cut Cotton and Blade. Cotton got struck in about 300 yds and Blade was 350 yds the other way. Cotton worked an old bad track in and out of the Luxapilla creek and finally got him going up a big ditch. She stayed quiet for about 5 minutes and just loaded up treed. She had meat. Blade came in and treed with her but got no reward. Y'all keep'em lookin up and have a Merry Christmas!!! Darren

COTTON

Little Cotton is a gritty little helfer. She has had to kill a few coons lately as big as her!! Pretty much alone. She has a few battle scars here lately for sure. I like my little ball of fire. Gone start back hitting some hunt with her as she just needs a cast win to be Dual Champion. I am looking to breed her in the Spring or early summer.

Hunt

Had a good hunt tonight. First drop we cut Cotton and BB loose. They went 800 yds and split up. BB went right and ended up coming to a paved road down the creek. She never got struck and we caught her up. Cotton went over a mile the other direction and struck a bad track. We kept driving around and she kept on working. We got within about 200 yds of her and she loaded up. This bottom is hunted to death and dogs have to really work to get one treed. We rolled this one out to her. Next drop we cut my two young males loose. Brothers , Blade and Stroker. Blade struck first and Stroker followed close. They worked a good track down an old slough and Blade loaded up. He treed hard but Stroker went right and kept working. We were looking Blades tree when Stroker loaded up. We went on to him about 100 yds past Blade. Stroker had his coon and we moved out in the field and seen Blades coon. Called it a night. Y'all keep'em lookin up!!! Darren
