pups

Been getting quite a few pup updates on the Logan litters from the past couple of years. Sounds like quite a few have been in the hands of hunters. Got an update also on a male pup out of the Logan and Hammerhead litter that is just 5 months that is lighting it up on caged coon. The two I have out of that litter are great acting and have real nice mouths. Like most Logan pups their looks are second to none.
Logan is still in good shape and it looks as though we are only going to performance him if we breed some females when the time comes.

LOGAN

Folks I own 4 out of Logan an they are some of the Best acting an some of the easiest pups to get started. Folks should take advantage of him before he is gone . Didn't mean to high jack your post Scott but just had to voice my opinion on Logan. Thanks for all the help !

I have a Logan x cami female at my place.....she started herself at aprox 8 months.....
Very laid back at home...goes huntin like she shud....carries a big horn for a female.

Winter

As always it is cold up here this time of year. -6 this morning but is supposed to gradually warm up into the 30's next week. Might be able to get out and do some hunting if that is the case.

Cold or Raining

That's usually the way our weather goes here in Mississippi this time of year. I thought I was going to have to call you earlierin the week and get you to order that cold weather back up there in the north country. When it gets down below 20 degrees, its just too could for this southern boy. How is Creek doing haven't heard you say much about her lately. If you get to where you don't want to feed her anymore I'm sure between me and Steve we could find her a nice warm bed down here in Mississippi lol. Its suppose to be pretty warm here I think the next few days. I need to get on Tramp pretty hard between now and the Winter Classic. Are you going to try to make the Winter classic. I don't think I,ve heard you say. I know its a long drive for you, but If you do I'll see you there. Take care and good hunting

I was up in Northern Minnesota last week for work and the warm day was zero. Bad roads both ways and took about 10 hours to get home Thursday night. Went to the Packer game yesterday and seemed like a heat wave at 24 degrees. Creek is doing great. She was in heat but I did not breed her this winter. I just like hunting her too much. We hope to get out this weekend as it is supposed to get up in the 30's. We might get a January thaw.
Good luck with Tramp at the Winter Classic. I hope you win it all with him. I don't think I will make it as much as I would like to. I have to go back up to Minnesota the week before and my wife is going back to Virginia where she is from for a week so I will need to stay home and take care of things here.

Scott, That is a beautiful hound from your past! I bet that big son of a gun had a horn on him! Glad to hear you might be getting a thaw out up your way. I know you will like being able to get out and hunt a few nights. I saw Mr. Jack was wanting to feed Creek for ya. I have to agree, if you get tired feeding her I bet she would love our feed and weather down here! Just saying! Lol! I know that won't happen.
I haven't been in the woods near enough the past month. Seems like one excuse after another, Holidays, Rain, Flooded Swamps, Work, 4 Wheeler in the shop, ect. Got it out today and about to go cut them loose. Take Care and Good Hunting!

Good to here from you, This is a time of the year when the weather don't always make for good hunting up here.
Saw that old picture from many years ago and had to post it. He had a good cold nose on him and was a natural rig dog. He had old Smokey River Diamond Jim close up in his pedigree 4 times and was a sit down tree dog. Here is a picture when he was a pup with my oldest son over 30 years ago.

He was a nice one. When he was real young my wife told me I should take him along hunting because he made a racket the whole time I was out. I told her it was the dead of winter and he was too young to take out. She told me she did not care about that take him along anyway. In those days I would take out 2 or 3 dogs and I did not want to put him in the box with the others so I tied him in the back on an old Nissan pickup I had. From the time we started going he was smelling the air and at one point he opened and a coon crossed in front of me on the road. I thought it was just a coincedence and kept going. I got down the road about 3 miles and he did it again and I could see in my mirror a coon crossing the road. I cut him loose and he ran and treed that coon. It fell out to him and after that I just kept taking him out.
Jack,
His name was NiteCh Ch Thunder Blue Go Joe. I bought his mother Belle out of Tennessee as a pup from John Worley in Chattanooga. She was the first real tree dog I had. She was out of a dog called Coon Crazy blue Dallas out of Alabama. His sire was a PR dog that I also owned named bear. I never put him in a competition hunt but did go to a local clubs money hunt one night and won it with him. Both Belle and Bear had Jim in the 3 gen pedigree and in the 4th Generation.

We continue to get good reports on the young pups out of Logan. Lots of nice females bred to him in the last year down in Alabama and a nice cross made up here with Hammerhead.

That time of the year when just looking at possibilities. If it happens at all it would not be until June or so. Logan is not young anymore so who knows.
Things are going well. The Hammerhead pups will be here this week so just waiting on that and keeping them warm. Supposed to be a high of 8 degrees tomorrow and down to 13 below at night in the next couple of days so I have her in a warm spot.
