Guess I will turnem loose tonight

I will hunt Sounder, Magic and Lumber. I sure hope coons are moving or I'm going for a walk.

On the other hand took my new are to STL last night and it averaged 40.8 MPG I like those numbers anytime.

Maggie should be in heat this month I will breed her to Magic when she comes in.

Ok hunt

Magic treed a layup coon alone. First tree was a cherry tree and all kinds of coon crap on it but no coon seen. Lumber treed on it Sounder didn't.
Did a little pup training with a walker pup earlier before we turned loose and I think my dogs were worn out from all the barking at a cage coon. Oh well I do know Sounder is completely out of shape so I have some hunting to do this week. I have a class reunion over the weekend so no hunts from we this week.

Hunted tonight

Took Sounder and Lumber
First dump both dog struck and treed within 100 yards with the meat.
Next dump 300 yards short track and treed had the meat.
Third times a charm Sounder 900 yard struck and treed. Lumber 1000 yards struck and treed both had their coons and it was time to come home.
Lumber still not blasting in there yet when cut loose but learning quickly that staying close is no good at all.

Took Maggie, Lumber and Chris had Slick. They went a 1.5 miles finally struck a coon but went under the Hiway so the caught them. Next drop 250 yard struck and tree with the meat. We came home

I hope she and Sounder have a nice litter of top hounds with lots of old Uchtman blood up close. Should have looks, hunt, mouth and accuracy not to mention early starters. You shouldn't have any trash problems to speak of. Sounder still hasn't treed a possum yet or skunk or ran a deer

Hunted tonight

Took Sounder, Lumber and Chris had his GrNite Slick dog.
It's good practice hunting with a get gone walker dog and a treedog to boot.
We treed two singles and walked a good long ways to both. Lumber treed very nice. Last tree was a good 30 minute walk and the pup treed the whole time going to the dogs. With some fur on him this season he should finish out nicely.

If coondog to coondog with a pedigree to back it up means anything, there should be something nice come out of this litter. Dixie was also a very early starter, so these pups should be the same.

Working weekend sucks

Put a damper on all my weekend hunts for sure. Oh well a couple more weeks and we will be slow.
I need to trim the fat off Sounder he looks like a hog and he sure is a easy keeper.

Lumber

He is coming along nicely! Not super fast but getting it done with the GrNite's and Nite Ch he is hunting with. I see him build of confidence at every tree and he looks like he wants to be on the wood. I should have some fun with him this coon season.
He is still trying to figure out the cut loose thing. I need some hot coons to dump him on and he will get that take off down pat.
